2010 bottling, purchased in 2014. Still fresh, both in color and on the nose - Lots of yeast. Fine perlage, which persisted throughout the tasting. Pears and citrus on the palate. Fruity on the finish with a hint of sweetbread, broad attack. Lovely glass. Excellent aging performance for a non-vintage champagne.

Vendemmia: 2017. Sboccatura: 3 novembre 2022. Colore giallo dorato brillante; bolla fine e persistente.

Disgorgement labeled L.0308, unknown base vintage. Purchased from Rare Wine Company in late 2017, so at least 5 years post disgorgement. Per the back label, "the source for Le Val Cornet is a tiny plot of old Pinot Noir and Pinot Meunier vines planted in Kimmeridgian soil on the remote eastern edge of the Aube." Last drunk in 2018, this is very delicious although it has barely moved since then. I will hold my final bottle for at least 3 years hoping for further development. Retasted a week later from under Champagne stopper (more than half the bottle left over) and it's quite tasty and still very fresh. This release has a long life ahead.

MASTER CHAMPAGNE; 1/28/2019-4/30/2019 (WESTIN PALACE MILANO): Degustato alla cieca. ( 50% Pinot Meunier - 50% Pinot Noir) Annata 2012. 4 g/l ( deg. 09/2017) Inox + legno. Vino particolare, emolliente e intellettuale. Di non facile interpretazione

Solid, but not particularly outstanding among a (non-blind) lineup of about 10-12 other grower Champagnes in wine group. It's been a while, but I think I had this in my ~40-50th percentile, outside of the top 4-5 among the following. (Unfortunately, I'm unsure of the ranking that I had, given the time that has passed, but I recall the NV Vilmart doing very well.)

Talula's Table with a few Berserkers - Late Summer menu: This wine suffered by following a crisp and lively rose Champagne (I forget the name of it). This showed simply, round, and almost sweet and fruity in comparison. Not bad, but not very interesting this time.

Yeast, meyer lemon, chalk, and a spray of ocean mist on the nose. Toast with citrus marmalade on the palate leads to a very long finish of honey and white flowers.
Very well balanced - not overly acidic. This is one to stock up on.

Lovely champagne with layers and layers of flavor a from bright white fruit to a floral essence that sits just below an edelflower lightness and a salty backbone that is at once on the back of the palate and light and airy like an ocean mist.

The meal: Antipasto Osso Buco with polenta and broccoli rabe Select Vermont cheeses Pears poached in cassis accompanied with red wine sorbet
The wines: N/V Nathalie Falmet Champagne Cuvee Le Val Cornet (deg. May 2014) - 91 2007 Domaine des Comtes Lafon Meursault Clos de la Barre - 94 2006 Poderi Aldo Conterno Barolo Colonnello - 94 2006 Azienda Agricola Le Ragnaie Brunello di Montalcino - 92 2012 Booker Vineyard Grenache The Ripper - 94 2012 Torrin Akasha (Syrah) - 95
The Falmet was nicely balanced and very pleasurable to drink with antipasto dish. Tight bubbles, notes of citrus and toast. Drinking as good or better than previous bottles.
The 2007 Clos de la Barre was a perfect accompaniment to antipasto and also balanced well against the reds later in the evening. Lots of buttery notes and a smooth long finish. Continues to astound me.
The 2006 Poderi Aldo Conterno Barolo Colonnello is just beginning to emerge as a young maturing Barolo. The tannins are subsiding quite a bit and had a great balance of fruit, soil, fragrance and polish. It has structure to last for many years, and it would be good to wait another 5 - 10 years to try it again.
The 2006 Le Ragnaie was an excellent Brunello but suffered a bit in comparison to the Colonnello. Its tannins were more muted but it lacked a certain complexity that I was hoping for. It is still an excellent wine.
The 2012 Booker Grenache and 2012 Torrin Akasha (Syrah) made for interesting counter-points to each other and to the older Italian wines. The Booker exhibits lots of licorice and fruit and big chewy set of tannins that are quite integrated. The Torrin presented a complex palate of dark fruit, earth tones and soil. It had an exceptional finish and had us all talking and marveling over it.

Slight score increase as I liked it even more the second time around. It showed evolution to a bit more complexity in taste and was very well-liked by the group. We drank out of champagne flutes rather than chardonnay glasses this time, and perhaps that concentrated the bubbles a bit. Very clean and crisp.

Easter weekend free and easy wine session (Kallang Way Extra Space): Tasted blind. Drank after about 45 minutes of air in bottle. Appearance is clear, pale intensity, lemon colour. Fine fizzy bubbles. Nose is clean, medium+ intensity, with aromas of yeast, brioche, saline minerality, sea shells, slight floral and strawberry. Developing. On the palate, dry, high acidity, medium- alcohol (12%), medium body. Tried this between a Zalto champagne glass and universal. In the champagne glass, it was lean and mineral with hints of green apple. Creamy in the universal glass. I actually like in the champagne glass due to the focus and lean notes.
Quickly becoming one of our favorite cuvees. Excellent depth on the nose and palate with rich dark pinot fruit, cinnamon spice, and meyer lemon cream. Rich, full bodied, and powerful with a persistent fine mouse, wet slate minerals, and wonderful balancing acidity. Drink or hold.

A very impressive nose -- black and red fruits, toast and brioche, pronounced... leaps from the glass. The mousse is quite fine as well. Prickly and frisky to be sure, but lots of red currant fruit and long finish. Exciting, one to watch.

Chateauneuf Du Pape Dinner (The Prime Rib - Philadelphia, PA): Explosive, rich aromas of brioche, cinnamon baked apple, lemon, and sea shore. Full bodied and textured with a fine, persistent mousse, this impressed with powerful spiced orchard fruit, honeysuckle, and pie crust undercut by vivid lemon citrus acidity and wet slate minerals. White flowers and a savory herb edge adds to the finish. Delicious, with plenty of life left. Drink or hold.

50/70 Celebration continues at Clooney Restaurant (Ponsonby, Auckland, New Zealand): Rich and racy with vivid acid, plenty of pinot weight yet finishing bone dry and lean. The wine's balance between the impression of weight coupled the bright finish makes for an almost transformative impression on the palate. Heaps of character in this outstanding wine. Not as perfect as the Dom Perignon drunk the previous night, but this wine is arguably the more interesting.

Heredia Tasting; 5/7/2012-5/8/2012 (Palena, Washington, DC): Nice nose of lemon peel, citrus, chalk showing.
Palate of white grapefruit, lemon peel, chalk.
Decent punch and decent cut, little less than I recall with the last bottle.

Nice nose of lemon peel, citrus, chalk, and yeast showing.
Palate of white grapefruit, lemon peel, chalk, and yeast.
Decent punch and really good minerality and cut.
My favorite of her lineup for sure and at a good price.

Had this with dinner at Palena. The nose was somewhat mute - with just bright citrus revealing itself. The palate was tense and fresh and found that it went perfectly with some ceviche that I had.
