A pale golden yellow hue. This was in a perfect spot. Very fresh, but with some development. On the nose, this was classical with fresh citrus notes, citrus oil, hazelnut and white fruits. Also some tropical/yellow fruit notes as it warmed up and opened with air. The palate has a lovely sense of citrus driven intensity and weight, but without any heaviness. Viscous with lots of dry extract on the midpalate. No sense of Premox. Very fresh still and balanced. Ripe white orchard fruit, citrus, and stoney acidity that gives the wine lift. Layered complexity on the back palate. This is at a perfect stage of maturity for my palate, but has lots of energy and is still drinking quite young. A long life ahead for those that want to weight. Long, citrus and honeyed finish.

2nd of 6, decanted an hour, perfect cork and level, essentially unchanged from November's bottle noted in detail, apple and citrus to the fore almost too much citrus, more nuance in final glass, needs time, much upside if no pox, 15 years on this showing. F+ (18).

Powerful, viscous, thick, intense. Decent acidity. Makes a statement for sure. Not tired but a bit more freshness would be desirable. Even the greatest Meursault have a life span and 13 is about it.

1st of 6, opened 30 minutes, perfect cork and level - pale but unctuous, ie v leggy, youthful; orchard fruit, burnt butter, saline, very lemony almost too much, some honeysuckle, ok complexity, little minerality; medium, long, very persistent and concentrated but not oily like the 05s perhaps because of the slightly overwhelming citric component, not particularly layered as yet, needs to round out as I believe it will over the next 5 years, upside and 10+ years if no pox (Lafon is one of the worst offenders!!!!), probably worth risking another year or two before looking again. For now F+ (18).

Oddly, it performed best when very cold at opening and then hours later when almost room temperature. Yet strangely subdued for the time between. At best gloriously fragrant, rich and luscious without exceeding the speed limit. Yellow fruity, tingly acidity and persistent. Archetypical Meursault Charmes. Probably at peak now.

Outstanding mature Charmes from the master. Broad and lush, juicy, firm. Yellow fruity. Better to drink this one well chilled. Delicious and delightful. More about concentration than variety of flavors. Archetypical Meursault.

Clean golden color, intense floral and fruit and butter aroma and changed along the time, honey at last. Silky smooth palate and long after taste. We opened and served for three hours and very enjoyable. The wine performed best in two hours.

The excruciatingly tight dry cork worked since the wine was pale and limpid. Really concentrated, nary a hint of botrytis or over ripeness. And still youthful. Not much fragrance here, it’s all about style and intensity. Bosc pear is the only fruit, so not overly complex either. Dry, a bit of alcohol peeks out. Nevertheless compelling.

Dry on the palate considering the amount of fruit density present on the nose. Peaches and apricots framed by dense saline minerality. The intensity of this wine alone merits a high score. A little more development (and glycerin), and this would be a 96+ wine easily. 2010 Lafon whites are fantastic.

Another wonderful pristine Lafon. Not water pale, more butter yellow, deeper than a recent ‘11 Perrières. At first when icy cold the lemony acidity prevailed but with air and a bit of warmth the lovely apricot skin, almond and hint of grilled pineapple emerged. Medium full, nice texture, just a bit of oak. Very Charmes indeed. Still young and could even develop more depth and nuance in a few more years.

2010 Great White Burgundy Dinner (Eli's Table - New York, NY): Served alongside the Perrieres, we all thought this was the Perrieres because of its incredible brightness and impressive textures. But alas the Perrieres was oxidized, and this was sensational. Complex array of apple, pear and quince with impressive depth and intensity. This comes across as rich to start, but then vibrant and minerally from middle forward, providing an elegant overall package. Even better with more flora character when revisited at the end of the evening.

This has evolved nicely and is showing real density combined with complexity, but it remains a bit too much a behemoth. Very pleasant wine - but don't hold it forever as with time in the glass you start detecting some POX.

Quite a bit of matchstick reduction eventually fades to reveal orchard fruit, white flower, and spice notes. Concentrated minerality on the palate coats the mouth and leads to a long, lingering, dry finish. Energetic and balanced, with the rare combination of high acid and ripe fruit seen in the best 2010s. This is a gorgeous wine.
