  • Aged Côte-Rôtie from a great producer for under $50? Yes!

More tightly wound than expected upon opening, it blossomed with air. By no means and pretty wine, but wholly true to place. Peppery, 'scratchy' (high-pitched), smoky, and freakin' delicious! In fact, so good, I left about a third of the bottle for a second day, a mistake. (Note to self: You idiot! Do not ever again waste aged wine by holding it overnight.)

Minimal or fully integrated oak. The imperceptible alcohol, either 12 or 12.5 abv, enhanced the experience. The wine made me crave real Gyro (not that loaf stuff, which still would have worked), something fierce! 93-94.

  • Was pretty thin when 1st popped but after being open for 15-30min it hit a real sweet spot. Pepper, mature fruits, spices, green olives and rare meats with just a bit of tannin on the finish that kept a great balance. Was absolutely stunning with olive crusted lamb chops, one of the better pairings of the year.
