Popped and poured. Slightly sour aroma of red fruits and earth. Pleasant cherry and leather flavors, some menthol in the finish. Lovely, delicate, balanced, linear. May add complexity with more time, or maybe not. Right now it's a very good basic Chianti.

Très beau nez de chocolat à la menthe et de cerise. La bouche est très typée Sangiovese : Acidité bien présente, tanins fins et élégants, griottes et épices. Légèrement disparates encore, les différents éléments prennent du temps et de l'aération avant de se placer plus harmonieusement. Un très bon Chianti tout à fait typique de l’appellation. Pourrait bénéficier d'encore 2,3 ans de cave. Sinon, prévoir une heure de carafe.

Medium purplish color. Aromatic nose of chocolate, licorice, cherry liqueur, dried sage, dried thyme. Palate is dry, medium body and tannins, with notes of mint, unripe cherry, raspberry, anise, medium oak, and mineral. Tobacco on the medium length finish.

Reasonable, balanced, but perhaps it's either stale-dated or it had little going for it to begin with. At $31 a bottle (the price I paid), it showed little fruit, no tannins, limited nose, and none of the musky bits (barnyard, minerality, cheese) that might be of value. Not tight, not fruit-forward, just slack.

I think the wine at this stage is not as good as I had hoped for, it is a bit simplistic, therefor the low rating, not much goes on at the nose, neither the taste.
Darkish ruby color, nose of berries and spice, medium bodied with nice fruit, some floral accents, and nice spice. Good acidity level, not particularly long finish, and a bit bitter at the back end. Pleasant bottle had at Pizza Fresca in NYC. Went well with the pizza

A nice but not outstanding Chianti Classico, bright fruit on the nose and similar bright fruit on the palate. Noticeable acidity, light tannins and a decent finish make this a pleasant wine, but for $26.99 I was expecting a more full bodied wine.

(13.5%). Nice, rich fruit here but still remains (berry) fresh and focused. Creamy, soft finish with warm tannins. What a nice job of straddling the line to deliver all the best of the new world while showing restraint. The first Chianti I've enjoyed in ages. Not cheap, at $26, but worth the price of entry.

The 2011 Querciabella was richer, darker and more forward than the ’10, showing red berries, wood spices and Tuscan dust. On the palate, tart red berries with hints of spice prevailed, staying juicy and rich throughout. The finish showed saturating red fruits and hints of earth. This wine was beautiful on this day and will likely improve a little over the next few years, but it’s so good now, who can resist?

Initially disjointed and uninspiring, decided to put away and give it another shot the next day. Not a bad decision.
Charming nose of deliciously ripe dark cherries covered in dust, alongside notes of violets, leather and toasty oak. Some funk also, which I feel makes the nose all the more interesting. On the palate medium bodied and well defined. Starts with even an illusion of sweetness but quickly the high acidity emerges, grabbing the palate and painting it quite dry. Bright, ripe dark cherry and licorice are joined by flavors of earth, leather and spice when moving towards the finish. Quite palate cleansing, mouthwatering and all the way balanced. There is obvious oak, but still the wine has a fairly pure feel. Yet, I'm not enjoying this quite as much as the previous vintages, where the fruit has been more vibrant. Nevertheless a good CC that according to the producer should be enjoyed at 13-17 celsius, which is something I definitely agree with.

Quite accesible and enjoyable. Less tannic and concentrated than previously, but I would still describe as more "modern" than "elegant". Soft red and black fruit, vanilla and spices. Very nice.

Just having bought this Bottle with some of these wonderful colourful Pasta Packeges end of last Year at one of the biggest italian Supermarkets in Hamburg, Germany. Quite nice Nose with some, but little Vanilla, the typical Hints of Cherrys. On the Palate really fresh, despite the Fact that this Wine comes along with 13,5%..... Like that very much. Long Aftertaste and in my Opinion this will involve for some more Years. In Order to give a Hint to the NZ-poster of this Wine. In Hamburg this Bottle Costs 18€, which are roundabout 24 NZ$...... Who wants to earn that much more Money? 88-91?

(Recommended by John) but.... very light, brick red hue, strawberries and vanilla on the nose. Palate quite light, more berries with a slight green finish. Ok, but not worth $39 (NZ) Im afraid.

I read kampster's note below and have to agree this is a more modern style of chianti classico, but I'm seeing the biodynamic site coming into play here, as there was a freshness and vibrancy to the wine that I don't always see in other CC. I have to say also that this is cracking value - I'll be making another purchase.

Excellent value as always. A modern interpretation of Chianti Classico without heavy extraction and over-zealous oak usage. Plenty of fruit and adequate oak. Very elegant and accessible at the moment. Highly recommended. Drink or hold a few years.

Chianti Classico tasting- the black rooster crows at the dawn of a new age (Allerton Hotel, Chicago IL): Nose: Nice and straightforward nose with good tones of licorice, red fruits, cherries, and some spice tones.
Taste: Medium bodied with medium+ acidity and some supporting tannins. Well balanced with tones of licorice, red fruits, and spice tones.
Overall: This is a nice and straightforward Chianti Classico. It is lacking depth, but is easy drinking and good.

Tuscany Sangiovese tasting (Prince Wine Store - Bank Street): Milk chocolate and liqueur cherry are balanced with some vanillin oakiness. There is a rich fruity mouthfeel with delicate tannins.
