14.7% abv. Recent auction purchase. This tasted like a low-end Napa Cab trying to be a high-end Napa Cab. Loaded with vanilla and cocoa, tasted manipulated to me. It is "smooth" and easy drinking, but I am not a fan of this style and not at all what I look for in Cabernet.

Now that's some tasty vino. Poured through a Vinturi, but it still needed about 20 minutes in the glass before it really opened up. This Cab is drinking wonderfully now, so no real need for long-term aging. We are planning to have this with steak, but it may be gone before dinner is ready. This would be a good choice for special occasions or dinners. ~ Yep, it was great with steak and asparagus.

Not overly impressed with this wine. It was a decent pop and pour, decanting for a few hours did not improve the taste. Would I buy it again sure, but only if I can't find a bottle of Olema (same maker).

Better than expected. This was a gift wines and one that I fully expected to be underwhelmed by and was pleasantly surprised. I had not ever tried this winery before but will not seek it out on the wine lists. It showed a lot of dark fruits depth.

Decanted 2+ hours prior to consumption, drank over the next 3 hours. I agree with BRANDILOVE's observations on the drinkability, smoothness, and subtleties of this wine. However, I would give it more credit and will explain why. At first, based on the reviews, I was expecting something a bit more robust or bruting than what this wine ended up being. The nose was subtle and pleasant, some dark fruit, spices, vanilla as mentioned. Palate was very similar and enjoyable. Finish was medium, probably 15-20 seconds for me. Now, where I differ in opinion is, I was impressed overall with the integration of tannins, transition of flavors, and overall ease of drinking with this wine considering it sits at almost 15% abv (14.7 to be exact, according to the winery). That being the case, I did not detect any heat whatsoever on this wine, something I feel lesser quality vino often fails to achieve even when it is smooth. For that I give the wine a 91-92pt rating. Definitely worth trying if you like a cab that is medium bodied and easy drinking. Also keep in mind I normally gravitate towards more extracted, concentrated, and power cabs and still quite this tasting.
Also, for the cellar, based on how the wine drank at this stage and where the tannins were, it is drinking well now and I am not sure how long I would sit on it, maybe another few years at the most. Enjoy.

So I'm enjoying this 2009 Amici Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon tonight and I find myself torn between two reviews.
On the one hand this is A super smooth, highly drinkable cabernet sauvignon. The aroma is subtle and very pleasant with a touch of cedar, a touch of dark, dried fruits and maybe a hint of vanilla.
The palate is equally balanced and exhibits that same subtle, smooth quality with a touch of minerality on the finish. It really is a tremendously pleasant wine.
On the other hand, at $38 I can name a host of wines that I like better. For me at least if a wine is going to be this smooth .. this balanced then it needs to be opulent & and least for me this wine, while delicious .. is "common".

Really drank great the first night but opened up tremendously the second night. Big nose of black fruit, cassis, vanilla and hints of violets. Very plush on the tongue with a medium finish. Really impressive wine for the price.

TNs: Amici Cellars Visit: Deep color. Notes of violets, anise, cassis and blackberry. Firm tannins with a sweet edge and flavors of perfumed berries, cassis and black fruit. Long finish. From Howell Mountain and Oak Knoll fruit. Impressive.

Bouquet of fruit on the nose. Took some time to open, but then delightful. Plum, tobacco, graphite and green peppers.

After an hour of decanting, still bit of tannins, will wait for an hour. Pure, shows the characteristics of good cab. Not Bad for the price.

Very smooth with subtle tannins. Fruit is good but more muted compared to 2007.
Good black fruit.
