Greatly enjoyed a bottle of this on New Year's 2015, and revisiting it now only reinforced that. A bit of a toasty, bready character with zesty lemon peel. This is actually the best sparkler I've had in recent memory, including some mainstream Champagnes and Proseccos. A great value from Spain, worth stocking up on.

The nose showed almond, citrus, green apple, herbal and yeasty notes. On the palate it was fresh and dry yet smooth with tart flavors of apple, dried peach and grassy notes lingering though the mouth-watering finish.

Pale straw in color with aromas granny smith apple, citrus, and a hint of fresh baked bread. In the mouth some stone, grapefruit, with a nice crisp finish.

Boerne Wine Club - Spain (Scenic Loop Cafe, San Antonio, TX)): Fine nose, slight waxy quality. Palate was simple and thin, but taught, with refreshing smooth acidity (hint of residual sugar?), green apple flavors and a medium mineral finish. Not complex, but balanced and pleasant. A nice summer sparkling. 87

Solid value. High citrus (it has a nice little bite), a little sweeter than one would expect. Enticingly sharp smell, but otherwise a smooth drinking sparkling wine.

Color: pale yellow, watery Nose: lemons and apricots, light pepper Taste: lemons and apricots at first, strong apricot and lemon rine, acidic lemon pepper on the finish Comments: simple yet a good acidity to it, avoids the usual pitfalls that so many wine makers make like being too fakely sweet or sulphuric, also a great price point to considering i got it for $10

A guzzler. Granny Smith apples. Nothing special, nothing bad. Reminds me of sitting on a stool at the Boqueria, consuming vast quntities of delicious seafood, being handed an overflowing glass of this over the bar.

double blind. awful, although in it's defense, it may have showed better if a bit colder. wines of little stature can at least be pleasing as a quaffer if served at a lower temp. when revealed, it did little to quell my general opinion that cava can be frighteningly bad. funny to learn i had had this before, and felt the same way about it.

Blind Night (Mattias): Yellow color. Tropical fruit nose. Pears and caramel on the nose. Tastes of apples and pears. Simple and one-dimensional. Decent balance. Soda minerality that dominates the sweet finish. Tasted blind with a NV Krug Champagne. My thoughts were both were non-vintage and the Krug was from Champagne and the Castellar was Cava from Spain. No idea as to the producers of the wines. Provided by Mattias.

A bit hesitant, almost reclusive - vigorously bubbly, though. Shows hints of lemon verbena, green apple, spring herbs (chives, maybe?) and honey with a touch of yeast. This kind of fun.

Pleasant nose of fennel and hay that has a subtle oiliness to it. Orange flavors dominate a fairly minerally palate. Finishes a bit short.

OK cava. A bit dryer on the finish than most cava. It does not have the fruitiness of good cava.
