2010 Domaine Tortochot Mazis-Chambertin

  • The 2010 Tortochot Mazis is stylistically very different from the Chambertin, which I had multiple times. The Mazis exhibits dried meat, iron, sous bois, cherry cola, dark cherries and herbs. It certainly shows the vintage power and terroir power. Palate is on the savoury side. This is not a crowd pleasing Gevrey. In contrast, the 10 Chambertin has excellent fruit purity. Much prefer the Chambertin. 90-91

  • From a grand cru not revered by some, but this was everything you could ask for. I'm kicking myself for not waiting 10 more years. It was hot as hell iny house and this was in a 50 degree fridge so decision done. Deep and dark and complex and so savory. Dried meat and leather but also some cherry. Interesting how properly stored aged wine all reverts to the same beautiful flavors. It was criminal what I got this for several years back.

  • 2010 Burgundy Tasting at the Wine Exchange, OC, CA.

Slightly phenolic/heat on the nose but with strong underling terroir/minerality & fruit on the nose.

Beautiful balance mixed fruit -- fig/plum/blackberry on the palate along with subtle barnyard, wet peet funk, minerality and terroir on the palate. Hint of dry aged beef/meats on the palate.

Med-full bodied with good balance and a medium finish. Delicious.

    Bravo for effort.

Would recommend buying several bottles!! Worthy of score!!

  • A very deep nose of dark fruits, meats and earth. Fresh with a lovely structure. Not very big for a Grand Cru, but with a fine depth.
