Dark red and murky. Slight signs of aging, but seems to have plenty of life left. Wonderful aromas of earthy gravel and peppery spices. Some raspberry ganache. Light body, yet mouth-filling with a gentle acidity that provides freshness, yet remains palate staining for 30+ seconds. Some juicy texture with some earthy spice. Decent wine.

Very similar to the May 2015 bottle. Showing some remarkable intense flavors for a chianti. Dark cherries and menthol on the nose, along with a hefty fruit feel on the palate with excellent contrasting acidity.

Even more impressive than previous bottles. It definitely has gained some depth with time. Dark cherries and menthol on the nose, along with a rather hefty fruit feel on the palate with excellent contrasting acidity.

Nice sour cherry notes, but a bit one dimensional. Easy sipping before dinner, not much extra pop with our homemade spaghetti and meatballs. Nothing wrong with this wine at this price point, I was just hoping for a bit more depth.

Nose is big on dark cherries with a bit of menthol and maybe tar. Flavor profile is rich, chewy, big fruity, with a definite hit of acidity that transitions into a good bit of drying tannins -- kind of unusual for this chianti. Excellent QPR and an incredibly food friendly wine.

Scents of cherries and chocolate, like a black forest cake. There are also cherries with hints of chocolate and leather on the palate. A little spice on the finish. Soft, velvety tannins. Great for the price.

Nice Chianti with good acidity. Light body but substantial red fruit with some minerality on the finish. Nose is accented by flowers and cherries. Some vanilla from oak.

Scents or berries with hints of pencil lead, cigar, and violet. As it opened up, we caught more scents of chocolate. On the palate, there's cherries and chocolate with a little leather and hints of licorice and spice on the finish. Great for Under $20.

Not your grandfather's chianti, lighter, not as arid or acidic nor as earthy, not very complex but nice drinking with food wine. Some spice on the nose with hint of blackberry, full mouth feel with moderately long finish and nice tannins that should mellow some with age, taste of black cherry and prune with hint of licorice, chocolate and minerals. glad I bought a case at $10/ bottle sight unseen

Just bought a case on sale without having ever tried, so I was eager to check in and see what its like. There is some buzz out there that this is a modern Chianti producer and that there is a noticeable oak signature. Neither of those things was reassuring in my mind, so I was pleased to find this not to be the case at all. Maybe slightly modern for Chianti in that it is in a somewhat cleaner style, not as much about dirt and earth and acid. And in that regard, it may lose some of its Chianti-ness. But overall its a great food wine, with a refreshingly light body and decent acid. Certainly not a complex wine, but this will fill its role admirably, and I am very happy with the purchase.

Popped and poured with pasta, then finished off a few nights later. Has some strawberry aroma, along with some cocoa and earthiness. Taste has the earthy and strawberry flavors. This is pretty uninspiring and seemed to fall pretty flat when hitting the palate.

No rating. Really bad Brett nose and flavor. Horrible barn yard that won't blow off. This is at least 2 bottles in a row. Will never buy a vitticcio untasted again.

Very tasty, nice cedar tones, light fruit, but one of the lighter Chiantis I've had, both in color and taste. Great for pairing with pizza, pasta and medium-bodied fare.

Decent chianti, but veers more to the modern side - dark fruit, a bit riper, fuller with some oak showing (not too much), but sacking some earthy, savory elements I look for. Still solid for the price.

Same as earlier this month. Really like this with Italian fare. Tasted while cooking spaghetti & meatballs so there were a lot of aromas already in the air but what a wonderful mix. A consistent winner so far with beautiful red fruits soft tannins and good acidity. Great food friendly chianti.

No score. This wine followed a 1996 napa cab, so my palate wasn't ready for an average chianti. Tasted funny on night 2 and 3 so might have been an off bottle, or I just don't like this, but not fair to give a poor rating. I'll rate next bottle.

Soft and silky with cherry, blackberry, spices and smoke. The structure is solid with a moderate finish. Overall this is a nice Chianti Classico and would pair up with a variety of classic pasta dishes. (Drink 2012-2016) - April, 2012. (JD)

Very good QPR at ~$12. Not complex, but does what it says on the tin, so to speak. It was perfect with a mix of three pizzas. Stereotypical pairing, but good nonetheless.

I love Viticcio… This Chianti seems a bit leaner than it has been in the past… however, the plush-ness of the soft ripe fruit and smoothness of the wine really make this a great bottle. Soft strawberry and raspberry fruits with a touch of saline mineratiy. Very modern styled Chianti.
