Nice but needs to breathe…couple of hours in a decanter would help. I disagree with comments that it’s past peak. This has the structure to go another 10 years, in my view. Still showing a lot of primary fruit…just beginning to show some more earthy elements. Good tannin and acidity to continue to evolve.

Perhaps a bit too rich and superficial for me now. The sweet oak seems to have taken over a bit which is a negative evolution for me from the first bottle that I drank a few years ago. I don’t remember bottles 2,3,4 being like this either. I have bottle 6of6 left which I’ll keep until at least it’s 20th bday for a vertical, but I don’t guess this will improve.

Decanted for a couple of hours. Med+ ruby/garnet. Med+, developed nose of red and black cherry, leather, earth, dried herbs, vanilla and some cedar and spice from 3 yrs in large, neutral oak casks. Dry, w/ med+ acidity, tannins and high but balanced alcohol (14.5%). Full-bodied but very well balanced, w/ med to med+ flavor intensity and length. Traditional in style, it is a very elegant harmonious wine which is still drinking very well. At its peak or slightly past.

3/6, very good cork. Decanted 1/2 hour. Medium/deep garnet core, pale garnet rim. Red cherry fruit, quite rich but with freshness too. Touch of vanilla, florals. Medium/full bodied, red cherry fruit, spice, lovely soft tannins, quite rich and round but with lovely vibrant acidity which carries a long, harmonious finish. Very tactile, lovely, drinking beautifully.

This bottle started out strongly, with ripe red and dark fruit, some nice minerality and leather flavors and pretty smooth texture, but after 45 minutes it started losing its fruit and became rather thin and angular. Maybe this bottle was a little off and not representative.

Yet another 2007 Brunello that's drinking so, so well. Very Lisini in style, even in the context of the vintage. Tannins have started to resolve and are well-integrated, Full-bodied, lush fruit showing sottobosco, leather, tobacco, and fig notes, through to a very long finish. Get some red meat on the grill and enjoy this wine over the next 3-5 years.

Final bottle, and I'm very happy to have opened it now - in the early part of its preferred drinking window. Red/dark red fruited, with chewy, ripe tannins, good soil notes/typicity, etc. Subtle spice, plum and forest notes add welcome interest. May well continue to develop, and should drink well for another 5-10 years. 14,5% abv. cork and fill in VG condition. recommended, with a fair chance to improve from here.
This 2007 Lisini Brunello di Montalcino is maturing at a fast pace. Tasted blind – maturing mixed berries, earthy undergrowth and iron note. Smelt like an old Italian wine aged in traditional large barrels, slight nail vanish volatile acidity. 1997? Barolo? (81/100)

I was disappointed in a bottle of this one that I drank in late 2017. That is not the case now. My rating is probably low. The WA rating was 94. I decanted for one and a half hours a year and a half ago.....that barely worked. I was in a rush when I opened this bottle and did not decant.....just let it sit open for an hour and a half. It was fine and did not seem to improve much over the evening from the first sips. Conventional wisdom would suggest decanting this one......and I would normally have done so. However, it did not seem I missed much by just opening. It is in a great drink window with all of the dark berry notes one expects in a Brunello...….but I expect it to last a long time.

medium red with tawny/brick rim - bright nose of sour red cherries and some leather/tobacco - initially restrained, but opened up after 1-2 hours - beautiful full mouth of sweet ripe fruit - long 20-30 sec finish - classic expression of this style of sangiovese - a beautiful example of an elegant mature Brunello

A spectacular brunello. Antonio Gallonis review at Parker nails this. Pronounced cherry fruit, seductive structure and sheer elegance. Evan at this price a very high value for the price. I really wish I had bought signicantly more

A bit surprised by this, in a good way. Producers that did well have clearly made good wines, but the warm vintage 2007 is not a five-star vintage for me and I have had a feeling that you might as well drink up. But this is in fine shape, quite powerful, but it doesn’t lack complexity and nuance. Tannins are fine, ripe and well integrated. There’s tobacco, herbs and the feeling of that chalky, gravelly road. If I were to nitpick, the cherries are a bit towards the dark side and the acidity doesn’t sparkle. Still works like a a charm to lamb filet with a sauce based on marsala, fresh sage and butter.

Traditionell Brunello med de sedvanliga uttrycken av jord, läder, körsbär och lakrits. Begynnande mognad men tidigt i drickfönster. Inte helt olik Biondi Santi i stilen men behöver nog några år till på rygg innan den spelar ut sitt fulla register. 92p nu, antyder högre utdelning för den tålmodige.

Decanted 5 hours. Absolutely singing in the glass. Starting its tertiary developments with leather flavours creeping up on the dark fruit. Tannins still firm and the acidity high. Stunning with duck ragu. Absolutely ready to drink but this beauty has many years in it. Would be very happy to consume the rest of the case over the next 10 years

Another awesome bottle from one of my go to producers in Montalcino. I read about this winery in early 2005 as a producer to keep your eyes out for before we embarked on a wine trek in Tuscany and I've enjoyed their wines ever since. This did not disappoint. Opened about an hour before dinner, it was singing with crushed red fruit, supple tannins and s long earthy finish. Last of this vintage but no regrets opening at the ten year mark.

Pnp, nose reticent at first, slowly opening to some dust, sour cherry and some herbs. More time yields some fig and leather. Nice cut, not flabby like some 07's can be. Short finish. Might evolve from here, 2 more years max for me. Overall unremarkable.

Medium garnet color. Super pretty and classic nose of leather, tobacco, red cherries, dark plums, flowers and some cedar wood. On the palate there is also some menthol and a graphite kind of minerality. It's medium-full bodied, with medium-high tannin (that is round) and medium+ acidity providing some freshness too. Good length. A very pretty, classic and ageworthy Brunello that still has a few good years ahead. Good PQR too.

Menthol on the nose. On the palate, jammy cherry followed by bitter cigar tobacco, with moderate silky tannins and good acidity. This is a decadent expression of Sangiovese -- rich and fruity, with tannins in the background, which seems to be characteristic of 2007 Brunello. It's a long way from traditional, although it is undeniably tasty. Excellent quality, but below average value for the money: A good Chianti Riserva could match it at a lower price.

Cherries, cedar, currant, with a glossy, sweet & plump personality. Moderate tannin, some toastiness, mint, not very interesting or complex.Tastes good, but not particularly Tuscan or even Italian for that matter.

This bottle was more tannic and austere than I remember the first bottle being. And that impression was across tasting on multiple days from the enomatic. A traditional style brunello for sure, but this bottle would have been better off with a few more years in the cellar I think. Will hold my last bottle for a while.

PnP at Tosca Restaurant in DC. Paired with duck confit ravioli and a bone marrow-oxtail morsel. Brick red and light garnet in the glass. Bright fruit, cassis and crushed flowers sing from the glass and beckon the nose to sink deeper inside. First sip is a mix of red fruit, spice and light toasted cedar notes. Mid palate the tannins come in, but softly and marry well with acid and fruit. Finish is long and smooth, with warm fruit, butterscotch, cedar and hints of meat drippings and pepper. Delicate and powerful at once.

Classic sangiovese nose, mixed in with cold steel, acetone, bike tube and perhaps some portobello - and after 15-20 swirls and sips, something distinctly green as well. On the palate it has surprisingly soft tannins. It's dominated by sour cherries and the bike tube and acetone thing almost tilts into a not so nice synthetic undercurrent to the main flavors. But in the end, with 7+ hours breathing, it brings me back, soft spoken, round, with understated minerality.

From an Enomatic machine at the Sampler, South Ken, London. Perhaps not the best way for it to show its best? No nose, too much wood, not so much tobacco leaf as cigarette butt, just not particularly enjoyable. Softened with time in the glass, but not at all like the other tasting notes here.

Garnet colored with medium legs. Very light sediment. Cassis, prune, apple, mineral light toast and black pepper on the nose. Lightly toasted prune on the palate with undertones of, black pepper, stoniness, and sherry. The wine is meaty with a medium body and satin texture. Fairly long finish. The Sangiovese in this wine has calmed enough that it won't suck the enamel off your teeth. But it still has enough acidity to take it another 3-4 years in the cellar. We had chicken baked ziti and some Dutch cheese for dinner - probably should have put this with veal or other mild red meat.

Consistent with my previous note -- really nice Brunello. The nose just smells like Tuscany -- red fruit, florals, and a bit of earth. Mid-weight with excellent balance on the palate. Fine tannins are noticeable, but not obtrusive. Wonderfully food friendly. I drank this off the Enomatic over a period of about 10 days and had it with several different foods: homemade bruschetta and pesto pasta, grilled chicken and italian sausage, and even hamburgers. This wine was a nice accompaniment to all (really sung with the pesto and bruschetta). No heat whatsoever.
Among the 07's I compared in a recent tasking note, this was the most ready to drink. And it is quite pleasant now. But I think there is plenty of acid/tannin structure to see this through several more years. And I look forward to trying at least one of my bottles with more age on it to see how much the secondaries develop. This was an excellent value at the $40 I paid.

Very fragrent. Aromas of carnation and clove with a hint of eucalyptus. Tastes of dried cherries , mahogany, black pepper and red fruits. No need to decant, just pop and pour. We decanted the wine for 90 minutes before we poured the first glass. It was medium ruby in colour and offered red fruit, cherry, coffee, spices, cinnamon, liquorice and earthy notes on the nose. On the palate the wine showed red fruit, cherry, coffee, spices and earthy notes, paired with medium-plus acidity, ripe, well-integrated medium-plus tannin, a slightly creamy mouthfeel, some heat from the alcohol and very good length. A solid, medium-bodied Brunello. It will be interesting to see how this wine evolves.

So yeah, I love Lisini. Just seeing the beautiful label with Brunello di Montalcino and Lisini in Bodoni capitals ... The 2007 is lovely too. It might be lacking a little bit in definition, but the fruit is so lush ... There's tobacco, round and ripe tannins (there is future here, if only 5-10 years), serious mineral and good acidity. I think a well-known American gentleman with the initials JS would say hedonistic if the other gentleman RP hadn't hi-jacked the word. I love it, even though I prefer Lisini in cooler vintages where the minerality is a bit more pronounced and the acidity get's apple-like. Still 92-ish.

Translucent ruby, with slight bricking at the edges. Initially some funk which recedes with time. Nose reveals pure and restrained red cherry fruit, cranberry, green leaf, chalk, and cool mint. Very elegant and elusive in its aromatics. The palate is mediumbodied and solidly structured, with a very attractive purity in its featherlight cherry expression, and its velvety balsam notes. Over time, more tobacco and spices unfurls on the midpalate but Flavors are compact at this stage and covered with brisk acidity. Finish is dominated by fruitderived and slightly drying tannins This is a complete antithesis to the ripeness of the vintage, very elegant, feminine, lean, and balanced. It evolves in the glass effortlessly so my guess is it needs maybe 3-4 more years to unfurl its flavors and shake off some tannic bite.

This is a great Brunello. It nails two of my favorite traits in a wine, an expressive nose that wows you even inches above the rim and a long, long finish that lets you keep enjoying the wine long after you sip it. As I type this note, I sniff and sip and say, ahh this producer nailed it for me. I learned on a wine trek in Tuscany in 2005 at a tour of Collosorbo in Montalcino how they slow-ox the wines for about an hour before tastings and I find this method works extremely well for Brunello. I just pop the cork and let it air without decanting. The wine was tannic right after popping the cork but was drinking perfect after an hour or so. We followed it through dinner and even after it just kept delivering. Classic Brunello, sour cherry, kalamata olives, forest floor, great balance. Bravo!

Friday Night Double Blind Tasting $40+ (Bin 75): Crimson almost to the rim, pinkish rim; cherry pit, a bit of candy-like fruitiness from the youthfulness, tightened up with some air; tart, cranberry, cherry; delicious; many were fooled by the freshness and fruitiness of this Burgundian styled BdM; looking forward to the next bottle in a few years where the rating should be higher.

Montalcino visit June 2012; 6/8/2012-6/10/2012 (Montalcino): Ruby color. Full aromas of ripe blackcurrant, some red licorice and spices. Full bodied with chewy-smooth tannins and ripe fruit. The finish is long and spicy. This wine is slightly fragmented on the palate and I would give at a year or so before drinking. Its not for the very long haul, but a well made classic Brunello to enjoy over the next 8-10 years.

Finish is dominated by fruitderived and slightly drying tannins
This is a complete antithesis to the ripeness of the vintage, very elegant, feminine, lean, and balanced.

Bravo!

This wine is slightly fragmented on the palate and I would give at a year or so before drinking. Its not for the very long haul, but a well made classic Brunello to enjoy over the next 8-10 years.

The Italian Wine Masters (Metropolitan Pavilion): The nose showed red berries and spice with pepper and floral notes. On the palate, it was balanced with ripe fruits and a fine elegant structure. The finish was firm, and when placed against it’s intensity of fruit, showed good potential.
