My first V-R and second to last '02 red burgundy. Light brownish red color. Strawberries, raspberries, white pepper spice, and tea scents. Smooth and ripe, with red berries, spice, and forest flowers. Acidic and lightly tannic, it is nicely layered and lengthy on the palate. Good now but probably not gonna last much longer.

Ook wat mint en eucalyptus, heel ver weg een restje maggi en duidelijke sporen van eikenhout-opvoeding. Smaak / Afdronk: Prachtige zachte smaakindruk. Zowel fruitige als meer ontwikkelde tonen. Zachte zuren, behoorlijk wat boterzachte tannines die de wijn nog steeds voldoende kracht geven. Indrukwekkende lengte. Algemeen / potentieel: Nu nog wat jong, nu al verleidelijk, maar toch best een behoorlijke toekomst. 50 + Kleur: 5 + Aroma / bouquet: 11 + Smaak / Afdronk: 13 + Algemeen / potentieel: 7 = 86/100

Doug's 60th Birthday Party; 7/28/2006-8/9/2006 (Civita Castellana, Palazzo Doug & Jeanette): Clear, mature looking in spite of its youth. Nose: mineral, earth, no fruit. Palate: long, persistent and sapid; earthy and oaky but fruit-less; moderate in alcohol, acidity, tannins. Seems reasonably well balanced. I am not confident in judging this one's aging potential, but it isn't so great right now. The same wine, a few weeks earlier, was much better.
