Drinking at its peak and will last for many years to come. Pronounced nose intensity with notes of cranberry, strawberry, spices, toast, mushroom, truffle, flora. Extremely aromatic. Medium+ acidity and medium tannin.

This was superb. Such great lift to the aroma, with a kaleidoscope of florals and red fruits. The palate was silky but had such fabulous minerally detail. It is supremely youthful but has enough flesh and complexity to be thoroughly enjoyable. The finish powers on and there is substantial structure buried just below the surface.

My first Roumier. Converted. Had it alongside Cathiard En Orveau 05 which we had first. Thought that was very nice but this blew it away especially on the palate. Reminded me of the better Rousseaux on the nose with its elegance, purity and bouquet of strawberries. One to look for in a good vintage.

Sweet mixed berry world, meaty, exuberantly perfumed and lifted with incredible amount of substance at core. Elegant, driven, large and pleasurable. Killer Roumier vintage as always. 94+

Tasted with JC and RT. The finest Roumier I have had by some margin. While some say that Roumier performs best in off vintages, this '10 is truly spectacular. Lacking the typical backwardness / purple fruit of younger examples, this has blossomed into a beautifully balanced yet robust wine of depth and complexity. Lovely.

Showing just a divine nose, a vibrant intense display of strawberries. On the palate, just an avalanche of flavor, so tasty and complete energetic black fruit. Gorgeous clean finish, the tannins are practically invisible.

Definitely very pleasing but it felt a tired and advanced bottle, no way 2010 should be drinking more advanced than 01 (and 09) in the same flight). So based on this only ~92 but I would say there must be better / fresher samples of this wine out there that could of course rise way above this score.

Tonight this wine never really shone. There were some unattractive notes of barnyard / carton, perhaps brett disturbing the experience. The wine still felt in the midst of its development. But good material is here, just not the right time.

So far 3 bottles opened out of my 6pack. Normally, I'd open a bottle a year at the most but the 2010 Cras is singing right now. I can see it going the long distance given the density and structure but right now it is the very definition of iron fist in velvet gloves, make that the silkiest of silk gloves. The texture is airy and silky and yet the intensity of flavors is notable. One bottle was slightly off and even that showed class and smooth poise. When on, the aromatic fireworks will astound you and the bottle simply refuses to shut down or get shy throughout. Why not 100 points? Well because it is not there yet but the potential is there; I think some bottle age could bring out more sous-bois and mocha, caramelized sugar notes I find so appealing but the 2010s don't yet fully possess.

Dinner at Jua. Courtesy of Jason, who thought this had a touch of TCA. While I'm notoriously TCA insensitive, I didn't sense it at all. I thought this was terrific, though slightly out of character for Roumier - it drank more like a darker fruited version of Fourrier; a bit of almost fizz and minerality on the front palate and then delicious fruit (though quite dark). I tend to expect a lot more structure and lighter cherry fruit from Roumier, but who cares? This was really tasty.

Miscellaneous Wines from a France Trip-Burgundy, Alsace, and Paris; 4/20/2017-4/29/2017: Ruby. At first, all medicinal black fruit and menthol, but then, some redder elements, less green, and rising orange peel and florality. Compared to the perfectly fine 2012 village Chambolle from Mugnier tasted earlier tonight, a completely different level of depth and complexity. Amazingly approachable and understandable now, but it has the stuffing and balance for the long haul.

Some Wines from a Swing Through France-Paris, Chablis, and Champagne; 4/1/2016-4/9/2016: Deeper, darker color than the Fourrier. Intense black cherry scents, and much more soil and anise. Outstanding density for its medium weight, and superbly embedded acidity. Game, cocoa, and light green aspects compliment the fruit. Solid but unobtrusive tannins. Not nearly as unevolved as when I last tasted it in 2013. Superb, huge potential, and nowhere near its eventual peak. Ironically, we asked for the '09 but this was delivered by mistake-lucky us.

Wine Tasted at Acker Auction (Riverpark - New York, NY): Small pour from magnum, brief note. Superb red berry fruit aromas and flavors. Great potential, but this needs time. Slightly more backward vs when tasted earlier this summer in Burgundy.

Beautiful nose of purple flowers, cherries, earth and mineral. It has so much flesh overlaying serious minerally structure. There’s a light creaminess to the fruit but the clarity of the wine is superb. Awesome balance and should be a hell of a wine in a couple of decades. In fact it is a hell of a wine now.

95+ pts

Focus on 2010 Burgundy- The 2013 La Paulee Grand Tasting (Metropolitan Pavilion, New York): Red fruited like the village Chambolle, but a whole different animal in terms of depth of material. Impressively sappy feel to buffer significantly higher acidity. Very earthy. Unlike the village, it would be a serious error to broach this over the next 10 years. Built to last.

DIVA Burgundy Tasting; 3/21/2012-3/22/2012 (Maison Champy - Beaune): Wine tasting. Excellent for its level, and for me a big step up in quality over the MSD Bussiere. Aromas of bright red cherry, strawberry and sweet spice while also slightly floral. Palate shows slightly more lean red and black cherry, perfectly supported with great minerality, acidity and sneaky good tannins. Powerful, expanding finish. This is a wine I like in almost every vintage, but the 2010 vintage exceeds expectations.
