Nose is beautiful forest loam, warm spices and dried currants and berries. Mouth feel is silky, maybe a touch overly old. But still some beautiful fruit and an almost sweetness to it (in a good way). Complex white pepper, plum, and a long finish with a touch of acid. From a 375- what a treat.
Initially the nose is cedary but that grew to be a strong green pepper aroma. Palate has a nice smooth rich mouth feel with plenty of chocolate initially. A good but not great wine. Not sure there is a lot of room for improvement but its not fading any either.
Wow -- the last bottle and I am now wishing I had even a few more in the cellar. The color is a thick, opaque, rich red and the aroma right out of the bottle will knock your socks off. The forward fruit and its intensity are balanced with a deep, long, soft finish. This is reminiscent of the golden age of California Cabernet before the advent of "blockbuster" overly hot, high alcohol wines. Don't get me wrong, this wine is plenty big -- but has the complementary finesse, balance and structure. Think Sgt. Pepper's live at Royal Albert Hall. Magnificent!
