Really good, great dark fruit, funky earth and herb, nose and palate with fine acid streak but nicely full and in fine form. QPR at this point is tops. Last bottle from 7 years back.

Bright ruby. Agree with Decanthor that Mr. Malocchio's review is dead on. Grapey, meaty wine with a very nice mineral spine. Dense but still quite lively on the palate. There is a lovely a game, red fruit and spice core to this wine. Fantastic value.

Tasted alongside 2009 Principe Corsini Birillo Maremma Toscana ($20). Cantine Valpane ($16) had more concentrated flavors (of dark fruits, bramble, a touch of smoke) than the Birillo. The Cantine Valpane tannins were more well integrated and overall a smoother texture. A nice, funky fruit forward easy drinking wine.

Very surprised by this wine. Mr. Malocchio's review (below mine) is dead on. I love the fruit and earthy/barnyard notes on this. Very soft on the palate. Excellent pairing with my Italian cold cuts. Tasted great on day 2. Buy more.

Decanted 3hrs. Meaty, grapey, ripe, rich, and funky, with a savory barnyard-mineral streak. Heavier on the palate than many traditionally-styled Barberas, but very alive and tizzy, and effortlessly supporting its 14% abv. Good length and depth emanating from a sweet, slightly gamey, dark red fruit and spice core.

Not quite up to standard of earlier bottle. Taste was flat and a bit insipid, with little of the rich flavor of last bottle.
