  • Tasted over 3 hrs
    -med dark red mild clearing
    -red fruit spice iron
-med+ acidity gives a lot of energy, med/med- weight sappy focused tangy earth red fruit mineral, med/med- tannins
-very good now, still has the vibrancy of the vintage with some turning of the fruit into early maturity, suspect another 5+ years on this prime drinking plateau

  • Not quite as thrilling as my last bottle as this was a bit more woody and corse, but still so much stuffing and pure, gorgeous fruit with a touch of Vosne spice. Better in 3-5+ years.

  • One of the two bottles was corked.
The other was rich and complex with taste of raspberry, strawberry, leather, thyme and minerals

  • Tight. Didn't give up much until 2 hours after opening then started to flourish. Both red and blue fruits, lots of earthy flavors, long, smooth, vibrant. Wait on other bottles.

  • Blind. Surprisingly youthful, a bit angular, could do with some more years.

  • Very good with a 2-3 hour aeration. But not the best format for formal tasting notes

These 10+ year Chevillon wines definitely need some aeration though. Don’t show well without air!

  • Classy , fruity , why do the purists despise Nuit?

  • Midweight and still showing a mix of raspberry fruit and some earthiness. Little more closed than when I last tried it in 2014, give this 5-10 years. Tasty with a decant now.

  • An epitome of the vintage with a beaming, dynamite nose of sweet cherry and raspberry that is made nuanced by toasty herbs, fresh mulch and plenty of Asian spice. Silky and concentrated fruit has pristine balance and abundant, energetic structure. Just slightly chewy finish reminds you that you’re drinking adolescent NSG. Great now, even better in 5-10 years.

  • Tasted over 3 hrs
    -ruddy red mild clearing
-reductive element partially blows off leaving some ripe black cherry
-med acidity, med weight fairly dense ripe dark fruit with some animale and stoniness, med/med- tannins and a bit of sweet wood residue occupy the moderately long finish; really improves in the 3rd hour of aeration
-great balance and nearing a mature plateau, has lost the spicy exuberance of its youth

  • (at Petit Louis - Baltimore) Absolutely delicious. Both savory and spicy (lovely combo of NSG and Vosne). Starting to reveal all its got. A heady mouthfeel yet shows terrific balance and length. Should drink for another 10+ years. Great example of late fall / winter burgundy. (92+)

  • immediately it possess dark fruit, plum, blueberry, violet, bubble gum bouquet. Nose is big, dense, charming, friendly, reminded me some kind of New World wine aromas. Medium and smooth on palete, tannins just integrated. Can feel the richness of the wine. this wine can be aged for further 10 yrs.

  • Really got lost a bit in the line up today.
Young.. really young. Decanted 5 hours and still that fresh/bright fruit is prevalent. Tasty with a hint of funkiness. High structure and well balanced, but just needs a lot of time.

  • Nose of Christmas spice, cherry and menthol. Lightweight palate, sweet and savory with a silky texture and deep mushroom/earthy flavor element. Good but seems more advanced than I would expect for a 2010.

  • Blackberry, raspberry, cherry, sous bois; dense, thick, elegant, poised, and with some depth; not dynamic but oh so pleasing, although seemingly disintegrating with time and, while perhaps still young, may also, it seems, be worth drinking up now

  • Really a delicious bottle of wine and pinot of a high order. Attractive on the pour, with airy red and black fruits dominating atop a mineral backbone. With air there are lovely floral notes, framed by iron.

Beautiful silky texutre-this is Nuits, right? Tannins fully integrated, and while they provide a proper backstop, seem almost undetectable. Youthful but with the potential to gain depth and more complexity. Could only be Burgundy. These '10's are so sleek and confident, seamless and alluring.

From what might be among the last cases of wine shipped by Premier Cru before they were arrested. To paraphrase Billy Martin, that guy was both a born liar AND convicted.

  • Ripe and full with smoked meats, iron, earth and black fruits. It is sweet and full in the mouth and flavours are tinged with savoury things. There's good density and a finish that is long and very earthy.

  • slightly closed almost rustic but excellent wine with asian spice and cinnamon more like Chambollle with rustic finish.

  • Sappy ripe cherry fruit, savory, cherry blossom; very silky smooth, fine lots of chalky fine tannins, really approachable, with good structure and density but more fruity and maybe more enjoyable than the Vaucrains at this stage. Loved this and probably my WOTNuits. Chevillon horizontal at Brian and Jen's.

  • $39.99. That was the advertised pre-arrival price from Premier Cru in an email offering in early 2012. While it had all the appearance of a Jack spitting cider in my ear, I plunged on a case. Thus began a 2 1/2 year odyssey in which I became convinced that Premier Cru is a criminal organization, or at best, a purveyor of black market wines they don't actually own.

This is probably a completely false assessment because in the end, it seems like more a case of abject incompetence and customer service so bad it would make Tony Hsieh go into immediate cardiac arrest.

Whatever. Eventually after many imprecations, emails threatening suit, contact with the California authorities etc, I got my wine, and I finally opened a bottle tonight.

I'd like to say it was worth the wait, but if this wine was hand delivered to my doorstep by the Chevillon family, I can't say that it was. Nonetheless, tonight's bottle is a beauty. Dark red color, nose a perfumed exhalation of deep ripe cherries, bright cassis, and spice box, perhaps if I can be so bold tending towards sandalwood. Underlying subtext of bosky forest, suggesting in this young wine exciting development over time. Beautifully balanced, even elegant, everything falling into place. Approachable young, and with luck it won't shut down like the Premier Cru employee at the other end of the line.

  • I pulled this to open for comparison after the 2012 Gouges showed awkwardly. This one is much more friendly as you would expect, but I was immediately struck how much more advanced it was - been enjoying so many 2010s that I guess I hadn't noticed how far along they'd moved past release. The fruit here is turning more savory and plummy with a mushroom-like earthiness, and the primary fruit having receded enough to highlight a pretty raw and gritty structure. This will probably close down soon and become very tannic but fortunately for now it's still pretty expressive with aromas that hint at something more mature.

  • Monster, stacked 2010. Meaty and sauvage but loads of energy provided by the acidity. Very red fruited, raspberry. Great juice but needs a lot of time.

  • Stunning! Powerfull but delicate. Sharpness, fruit like ripe raspberry, tannins, body and minerality. Delightfull nose. Excellent now and will last for a long time.

  • So much going on here! The fruit is mostly that ripe, dark cassisy/plum typical to good nuits, but there are more reddish raspberry elements as well as dark blackberry notes as well. I also got a hint of spice, some foresty qualities, a gamebird flavor that distinctly reminds me of squab, a fair amout of cocoa, and a whole lot of earthy soil. All of these flavors are present on the palate as well, where there's quite a lot of tannic structure holding together the impressive midpalate concentration. If there's a nit here, it's that the tannins, while not astringent, are drying and not especially elegant, but there's enough concentration and extract to buffer the tannin and keep the wine thoroughly enjoyable with 30-45 minutes of air. If those tannins ever smooth out and resolve with bottle age this could be a real stunner. Even young, this is an excellent wine and, while not cheap, a considerable value as far as CDN 1ers go.

  • much deeper color than the village wine, this one is med/med(+) ruby with a fairly deep core.

On the nose, there's much more dark fruit than in the village wine, with black cherry and plum being prominent, as well as the red fruits I would expect. The fruit is riper as well, but there's still a little tart fruit in there. I could almost think this was from Oregon in a lean vintage from an elegant producer. There's a cooling herbal, almost medicinal note that I could call eucalyptus. The nose seems denser than that of the village wine. There's also the brambly quality here, and other types of fresh herbs.

med body, med(+) acid (but not quite as high as on the village). same profile as the nose. richer than the village, and longer, more complete finish. really long. solidly very good with plenty of room for improvement. I should buy more of this.

  • Slow-ox 2 hrs, tasted over 3 hrs and days 2 and 3
-opaque dark red with purple on rim
-expressive, spice, intense dark berry minerality
-med acidity, opens up and better on day 2, a bit rustic, noticeable wood on finish with chewy tannins, not holding up well on day 3
-Vosne spice with NSG structure and 2010 energy/aromatics, suspect it is starting to shut down

  • 2010 Red Burgundies (Beltramo's, Menlo Park, CA): Dark plum, coffee, potting soil nose. Medium bodied with medium acidity. Dark fruited, meaty with moderate tannin. Needs time.

  • Despite significant aeration, this baby gave up few of its charms, but there's plenty of material packed inside. Smoky, savory elements underlie the clean, just-ripe fruit, and I picked up a small hint of something like mint or menthol, but I couldn't quite pin it down. Anyhow, it was fun poking my head in here, but I'll wait a good 10 years before I touch the next bottle.

  • Sweeter fruit on the nose compared to the Bousselots, although there is a touch of menthol/spice. Also very tightly wound and acidic on the palate, with good dry extract and crunchy fruit elements. Same glossy tannins, should be long lived.

  • 2010 Robert Chevillon Burgundy (San Francisco Wine Trading Company): Medium to light ruby. Anise and some animal tones on the nose. Blacker fruit than the previous 2 wines with this and licorice at the core. Medium weight, powerful acids and soil at the end. Not generous at present, but I love its focus.

  • Rustic and classic Nuit St. George needs time deep and rich not as approachable as the Roncieres.
