Down to the last 2 of a case I bought years ago. Surprisingly, the wine was great even though it may be past it’s prime. Dark fruit with a hint of licorice and oak with medium tannins. Was best on the second day.

From a magnum that I bought at the chateau a few years ago. I was worried, both by the drinking window listed on CT and the past reviews. I managed to decant this in my hotel room for 6 hours before dinner (where there is a will there is a way) and it had opened up and was lovely. I did have a taste soon after opening and it was closed and had a slight tinny off taste. But after the decant it was gone and the wine had classic bordeaux flavors of plums, cassis, mild tobacco and leather. Tannins were so smooth. No greeness or tartness at all. A big hit with our group (which has varying levels of wine interest/experience)
Popped from a half bottle 2 hours before pouring. Subtle nose of tobacco and funk. Medium bodied with firm tannic grip, still quite youthful, showing austere oak, pencil lead, dark fruit, firm acidity and dusty tannins. Felt overall a bit harsh or green. Could certainly benefit from more years in the cellar or perhaps a longer decant.

I definitely agree with others this wine needs lots of aeration to open up. If the bottle had been consumed within 2 hours of opening, it would have said this was an 86-87 pt wine. However, it opens up very nice with aeration and was quite enjoyable.

Decanted for about 1 hour while we enjoyed some other wine. This is ready to go and a nice treat. Soft nose raspberry cherry and tobacco. Merlot shines through but the cabs give it just enough backbone to make it interesting. Smooth nice finish. Had with coffee rubbed ribeye and mushrooms in a port wine reduction. Paired well

This is a delicious Bordeaux. Nice nose of cherries. Good structure. No tannins. Quick finish but nice. Would pair well with food though we decanted for 2 hours and just enjoyed it alone. Worth it. Drinks well now and could probably stay another 2-3. Nice selection.

After decanting for 1 hour this came alive. Great structure and balance, medium tannin, great overall drinkability. This will last another 4-5 years. Change the drink by date on any in your collections if you store it right. Very happy with this Bordeaux .

Decanted one hour. Deep red color. Earthy, peat nose opening to blackberry. Drying tannins. Thin, tinny finish. Some chocolate, pencil lead and menthol as it opens promising more. Decant at least 2 hours or more.

Disappointing for a Grand Cru. Earthy with hints of berry and pepper. It does take a while for this wine to open up, however, it doesn't reflect the complexity or terroir of the region.

I gave it 2 hrs decant. I like this wine. Nice nose. On palate fruit is black cherry/currant/blackberry to me , and very subtle lavender and cedar. It's got good finish length. After the decant , the tannins seem to melt somewhat, and it became much more integrated, with nice mouthfeel, on the full side for a bordeaux. drinks well now

Ok. Had with lamb shanks, green been with frech salt, potatoes and arugula salad. Decanted 2 hours. A bit bitter, sweet nose, very fruity. Thought it would be better than it was. A lot of tannins. Too much for so much merlot. Not a repeat purchase. Great meal

Went shopping in a huge new wine store and picked up some low priced Bordeaux to try. This was the first one opened. Pop and pour. Currant, roasted herbs, coffee well integrated with good tanin backbone. Full bodied, strong finish, drinking very well right now. Awesome QPR here. I'm going to pick up a case and this is the Christmas eve dinner wine.

purple color, strong aromas, elegant and complex structure, currants, oak, almost perfumey type odor, medium to full bodied with a lengthy finish, had been decanted 2 hours

Dry medium-to-full-bodied wine with notes of black currant, dark berries, black tea, leather and dark chocolate. Soft, round tannins characterize its texture. This is a very well-structured wine - quite peculiar for a Saint Emilion. Finishes long and is quite delicious. Drink from 2012 to 2020.

Decanted for 3 hours before a right bank blind tasting. Placed in the middle out of 6 total. Nothing that stood out here, needed to decant though still young. 75% merlot, 15% cab franc, and 10% cab Sauvignon. Lost notes on this one but have second bottle.

Decanted for an hour, changed nicely over time from licorice and cassis to soft fruit and firm tannins to a nice soft wine at hour 3.

Good wine. Well integrated and, at this point, drinking well. Takes time in the decanter to wake up.

like others said, not approachable until after 2 hours decanted. Drying tannins. Started to thin out after about 3.5 hours. Not worth the $30 I paid.

A bit better than the first bottle. Lots of better wines from that region for the same money. Love my Bic pens although not so much Baron Bich's wine.
