Expressive nose with stone and tropical fruit and a striking mineral note. Showing some development with dried apricot and honey. A touch of sweetness on the medium bodied palate with impeccable balance via vibrant acidity. Long finish. Delicious. Drink or hold.
WSET notes :
Deep gold.
Pronounced on the nose with peach, orange blossom, mango, grapefruit, wet rock, honey, petrol, dried apricot, and ginger. Developing.
Pronounced and offdry on the palate. Medium body, medium alcohol, high acidity, long finish.
Can drink now but has potential for aging.

After a couple of slightly lesser Zind Humbrecht’s from 2009 down the sink recently thank goodness we found a return to form with this bottle. We drank it with chicken piri Piri and it was a delightful combination. Complex and yes it was mature in colour - an intriguing mix of lemon curd, beeswax and paraffin. Definitely something out of the ordinary and really worth it.

Opened by Allred. Light yellow color. Petrol aromas. Not completely dry as I expected. Notes of chamomile tea and spiced pears. This had excellent depth and wonderful secondary nuances. I previously drank the 1997 vintage of this wine and it was about the same quality and have a 2008 sitting in my cellar. 93 points

Dinner with Friends (Reserve 22, Glen Ellyn): Interesting that others have found some oxidation or found this to be over the hill but it gies to show that there is no such thing as a great wine, only great bottles. This bottle was still on the young side for riesling, with a deep but age appropriate color and aromas of petrol, apple, ripe stone fruit and mineral. The palate mirrors the bouquet and has a terrific richness. Long finish. Beautiful. I wish I had a few more.

NO. I think this is gone..should have drunk earlier. It is a too-dark golden colour...and while there is some taste as it enters the mouth (good acidity and some spicy fruit), it soon flattens out into a not too pleasant aftertaste of applyness. Not good. DRINK UP ! Pity opened it to celebrate the election...and we all know the election I am talking about.

10 years after Riesling tasting - 2010 (Restaurant Holz und Feuer, Kirchheim, Germany): *** brief impression from tasting event, no detailed tasting note *** Glass: Gabriel Standard and Sophienwald Bordeaux Bottle opened at noon, double decanted. Drunk about 8-10h later. Clear, pale amber color. Some lactic notes in the nose, mixed with some hidden fruit an mineral notes. Juicy, surprisingly smooth and round. Very mineral and long. But it lacks depth and pressure to be very good. One of my personal disappointments this night. 88-89

Very enjoyable. Lovely golden colour in the glass. A nose that draws you in, lots of honeyed yellow fruits. Good balance in the mouth, with some acidity and minerality to balance the sweet roasted pineapple flavours that come through. Served at a casual lunch with a poached salmon salad, and everyone around the table loved this.

Pours light gold. Very smooth, fresh and balanced. Medium to full bodied. Dry but lots of underlying spicy and tropical fruits. I liked this colder. As it warmed, acidity became more noticeable. Should last many more years.

V. bright green-yellow. Fresh notes of lime, honeysuckle, jasmine. Rich, long, dryish and very well-balanced. Acidity levels are on the low side but there is a lovely sour/sweet contrast. Not any evidence of petrol notes. Very good now and will stay that way.

Zind-Humbrecht puts an “indice” number under the alcohol percentage on the label. This wine is labeled 1 meaning completely dry impression. It pours light gold. Very smooth, fresh and balanced, dry with hint of spicy tropical fruits. Drank better colder at this young age.

After a bit of air, this settled into a more classic Alsace grand-cru riesling. A bit petrolly, and not the most compelling nose for me, but it's still undeniably well-put-together. Acid could be a bunch stronger.

Delicious. Sorbet-like. Nice balance between sweetness and acidity, though not technically an off-dry wine. It's a dry wine with an off-dry like fullness of body. Lemon, citrus zest. Long finish.

Blind tasted. Nose of citrus, lemon zest, lime, orange peel. white flowers, almonds, butter. Palate we hovered between dry and off-dry, med-plus acid, medium alcohol. Some of us guessed Chenin, most guessed Riesling. Surprised to find it was such high quality, keep this in the cellar for now.

Taste: Full bodied with medium+ acidity that shows itself. While on the larger side, there are very balanced tones of honey, melons, apricots, and spice tones.
Overall: This is very young. While the acidity wasn't too strong, it was certainly there. Everything felt like it was holding back a slight bit and not yet fully ready to show itself off.

Lovely nose of pumice, yeast and flowers with a dense flavour to match, complex and weighty with just a hint of residual sugar. Very mineral with citrus fruit in the background. Even at this age asuperb wine.
