Golden yellow, the wine immediately elicited a groan that one finds when dealing with the Domaine Leflaive roulette table. Perhaps it is some masochistic love to keep buying them, as when they sing, they are perfect pitch! But not this one. Caramel, melted fudge, and buttered popcorn all show evolution beyond the call of 2010. The entry is racy and there is some spice, peach and nectarine fruit, but it is joined by bruised pear and apple along. This wine has seen better days despite a backdrop of chalk, mineral and a saline note.

Bottle aired for half an hour. No pre-mox and the wine continued to open up for the next 2 hours. Upfront citrus, white floral, honey and slightly toasty nose. The palate was medium bodied with mouth-filling, refreshing fruitiness. Certainly a very decent white wine.

Mid+ yellow The nose delivers aromas initially of struck match and powdered rock but then opens to reveal minerals, river stone, oyster shell, some spices, lemon verbena and ripe white peaches. The palate is more expressive than expected, with plenty of ripe fruit giving sumptuousness but cut by a veil of mineral-laden piercing acidity. There is a density or mass to this wine; the frame is solid. As the wine opens, white stone fruit is joined by some pear and wet dog, almost Chenin Blanc-like and other minerals with gentle spices. Brilliant wine but needs to be drunk.

Bottle in prime condition, no signs of premature ageing or oxidation, just a fantastically balanced and razor sharp Puligny. Carried by an acidity that is never sour, this develops a charming balance around notes of white flowers, gooseberry with some warm spices. Brilliant minerality and nicely integrated wood. Pure pleasure and a match for any Sauce Homardine!

Null ox! Strågul farge. Intens nese, men ikke så nyansert per nå. Domineres av røyk, fyrstikk, stein. Svak grønn og hvit, undermoden frukt. Flott kurve i munn. Harmonisk reise, myk, svakt sødmefull hvit og gul frukt. Salt og sjøaktig med heftig syre. Svært godt sammenvevde komponenter. Intens! Mektig.

Very intense and wonderful depth with hard undercut citrus fruit, salt and seductive butter aromas. Pretty full-bodied wine with wonderful fruit feel. In a way, slim, in another way, corpulent feeling with really concentrated citrus, apple, tropical fruit peel and distinct salts as seducers. Can be stored fine for 10 more years, but this was very good now. 94 points.

fantastic again... these bottles were poured and looked dark -- striking premox fear in my heart, but one sip and you knew the thing was still high, bright and tight, it nonetheless was rather full bodied in style with some punchy rather than ethereal lemon, rind, honey on the palate... love this wine even if a little bigger than most I like -- thanks goodness it has the acidity to stand it up

Not a hint of premox unlike the Maltroye wines I have recently had from the 2010 vintage. Very lively, with exceptional balance, and notes of white flower, chalk mineral and a very long and expansive finish. An outstanding wine.

A bit tight on the nose but air gave more amplitude to notes of lemon/meringue pie, lime tree, crushed oyster shell and roasted hazelnuts. This had a crescendo of flavors on the palate with citrus, yellow fruit, white flowers and salted caramel on the palate. This really clean, fresh, focus acid profile and really really long. Hit its peak, this is stunning Leflaive. No sign of premox.

Nanda’s note resonated for me, this seemed richer and rounder than prior bottles, I think it’s time to drink up, which will be a feat for me as I have a dozen bottles left, also I gassed the leftovers and two nights later it was undrinkable, I get this but many tighter and brighter bottles would have survived 48 hours under gas

Tasted single blind in a mixed new/old world flight. Nose is reductive and a bit closed in, but starts to open and show excellent depth and complexity. On the palate this has remarkable intensity and brightness. Young, but given premox, I love where this wine is now and will drink my remaining two in relatively short order. Wine of the flight.

The Rotating Dinners, I.5: Blinds from Around the World (Chicago, IL): Served double blind in a flight of chardonnay. Smelled this and called this (incorrectly) as 2013 Henri Boillot Meursault or Puligny. Super reductive nose, with the same sort of expensive oak use that I tend to pick up in Boillot. This has white-hot acidity and crisp minerality as well, and has all the hallmarks of what I like in white Burgundy. I liked this wine a lot more now than a bottle I opened a few years ago. I quipped that if this wasn't Boillot, I ought to sell all of mine and buy this producer instead. Well, ok...

First of a 6-pack and this was pure, clean, and very typical Puligny 1er (in fact one taster called it as such immediately in a blind setting). Really lovely. Just lacking a little weight to be amongst the very best in Puligny, but that likely is attributable to the site. A very light and tasteful framing of oak. If your bottles are correct like this one, they could age a very long time...if you have the stomach to wait and see. If not, today you get a pure beauty of a young Puligny.

With the recent comments on this wine starting premox, decided to open one up. This bottle had no signs of early oxidation and was a beautiful Puligny-style wine. Was done blind and the group called the village right away. I would say it's still young. Great wine from a great year by a great producer.

Deep gold, followed by pre-mox'd flavors -- this shouldn't be happening for a 2010. But it brought to mind that at the last La Paulee in NYC Leflaive was pouring a pre-mox'd bottle, claiming it wasn't. A real turn off.

Sexy nese med florale toner, knust stein, litt sitrus. Parfymert, ren og virkelig lekker på duft. En kjølig, elegant og ren frukt beskriver denne vinen best. Vektløs, men ganske intens. Tåler dog litt mer fruktkonsentrasjon. Lang slank finish. Dette er råsexy.

On Lot 10 wine dinner (On Lot 10): Pours a pale straw color with thinner legs. On the nose, nice bouquet of roasted rice, preserved plums, some butter and sultanas. On the palate, the structure is rather than but it is still there. Alcohol is quite muted but the scent is focused and concentrated, especially with the mineral backbone. Great flavors of roasted popcorn, some caramel, fresh cut mangoes and wheat grass. Finish is quite long and complex and the flavors linger in the glass. Slightly acidic to keep things fresh. Incredible and it reminds me of the Marcassin.

may be conservative on rating, this was fantastic, really in your face with good acid, loads of minerals, citrus fruit, plenty of oak -- but not in a bad way as it wasn't cloying and didn't make the wine overly rich, the wine is med - full bodied and has tons of material to carry itself, very tense, lots of energy… should evolve beautifully over the next decade, the wine kept moving around over the four hours Tiff and i drank it (finished the whole bottle which is very rare for us)

Bottle 05597. Pale in colour. Moderately sulphured nose, with some relatively high-toned aromas of tropical fruit -- guava and bananas seem to pop out distinctly. The bananas are likely part of that whole "new wine smell", but for a bottle that's already four years old, that seems a little weird to say. The palate also displays a bit of a sulphury character, but there's a lot more citrus to it. I get a bit of grapefruit and pomelo, with a nice steely framework of acidity. This is definitely ripe but doesn't ever come off as hot. The density of flavour leaves a bit to be desired, but this is quite good nonetheless.

Getting old. Light golden-green color. Caramel aroma that soon blows off. Light bodied. Citrus flavors, vanilla with an annoying edge of Madeira, some incipient bitterness on the finish. This is on the downhill leg of a short trip. Premature oxidation, or just a light vintage? (Based on the other notes, perhaps I tasted a bad bottle.)
Perfect right now. Pale light chartreuse color with a Fruit core of pear and lemon zest with medium acidity. Unctuous texture. Long finish. Delicious and highly recommended. Can't wait for 11 and 12 to arrive

Nose: intense stoney minerals, white fruits (nectarine?) and a bit of citrus, a touch of reduction, a touch of mushroom and some apricot for good measure. Classic Puligny; classic Leflaive - love it.
Palate: Flavoursome lemon soaked white fruits with apricot touches providing richness while retaining excellent linearity. Beautiful oak (lovely resin nuances), in harmony with the penetrating lemony acidity, makes for a complex, smart palate of great clarity. Remarkably intense and concentrated for the vineyard, although without the palate length of the great wines. The best Clavoillon I can remember. Can't wait to see the top Leflaive 2010's - they must be really something. As with the best ever 2010 Macon Verze, the 2010 Clavoillon is a fantastic return to form after the clumsy, over-alcoholic 2006's that I still shake my head about ...

Unreal. Viscous and rich yet incredibly laser focused. How does one balance so perfectly the richness of fruit and oak with the minerality that makes white burgs great ?? Terroir-istes International - France, Burgundy, Domaine Leflaive (Rodwell House): Light to yellow in colour, the initial nose is reticent on this youthful wine. As it is coaxed open, there are floral notes with mineral, lemon zest and some oak spices. A delicate entry, medium-bodied, filled with juicy fruits that flow along on a bed of racy, mineral-edged acidity. Fabulously tight with purity and poise, the mid-palate is mineral, seaweed, salted lemons and spice-infused white peaches underscored by a creamy oatmeal texture. With layers of complexity, the wine has bite, depth and classy and finishes super long with a grippy, pithy rub.

Lemon moving to gold coloured. On the nose medium minus intensity aromas of wet stone, herbs, slightly charred peach, toast/cream and vanilla and a slightly dusty quality. In the mouth the wine has medium plus acid and body with flavours of ripe peach, spice rather than cream - the oak is less prevalent on the palate and the long finish carries a linear core of fruit. Needs time.

94 points.

This has white-hot acidity and crisp minerality as well, and has all the hallmarks of what I like in white Burgundy. I liked this wine a lot more now than a bottle I opened a few years ago.

Very young and burly, delicious and juicy. Great mouthfeel with a salty and lemony finish. Nose - 5/6, Palate - 5/6, Finish - 5/6, Je Ne Sais Quoi - 1.5/2 = 16.5/20.

Rieslings and Rhones at Grand Sichuan (St. Marks Place Grand Sich, NY): Incredibly primary and rich with a spectrum of fruit ranging from fresh pears and lemons to riper tropical flavours, and creamy, floral and ripe floral accents framing the fruit. There's fine balance with good acidity here and impressive length. Very nice.
