surprising amount of crystallization on cork for such a young wine...pale yellow hue resembling a classic SB... lemongrass, toasted oak, minerals and vanilla on the nose...full bodied, ripe and unctuous without being too heavy...crisp apple, lemon curd and bright but well integrated acidity and oak...a bit sweet for my palate but quite enjoyable on a hot afternoon with hors d'oeuvres...perhaps fruit will mellow, which, if so, could vault this a couple of points...either way, a very impressive effort from the North Fork

This wine was impressive: lemony flavor without too much citrus with an Asian twist (or read Lemongrass, as the tasting notes from the winery say), then followed by a honey flavor (or read honeysuckle as tasting notes say), and followed by a nice saline/minerality (or read “North Fork saline” as tasting notes say), also caramel on the finish. Well integrated oak.
This wine drank well, but could have aged a few years longer, probably. Strong vibrant fruit at 3 years in. Paired nicely with sweet prosciutto di parma. Still, a strong showing. Worth it’s $40 price tag, but not a bargain. Better in the Montrachet glass than in the Chablis (more minerality/saline from the Montrachet).
