26022023 - 5 ⭐️ luncheon hosted by SKT with 14 bottles of wines & 2 aged cognacs. Our 2nd round of 4 bottles tasted blind curated by SKT. Horizontal 2010 again from 4 great producers. Most of us thought this was a left bank Bordeaux including myself. Utterly surprised!! Dark fruit, forest floor, pencil shavings and nuances of cassis. Medium body with very fine tannins

We decanted the wine for about 30 minutes. On the nose, there was chocolate and graphite. Wonderful QPR wine. There was a burst of fruit on the palate...berries (raspberry and cherries) with a hint of pepper; soft tannins. Enjoy!

Plums and violets on the nose. Full-bodied, rich and silky in texture. Lots of attractive plum and blackberry fruit, with notes of violet and mineral. Subtle hints of smoke and licorice add a bit of complexity to the smooth, polished finish. A very nice Chilean Cabernet. 50+5+12+16+7=90

This wine is at its zenith, drinking GREAT now, but still needs lots of air, both breathing and decanting. Was exceptionally dark and inky, the nose and taste was dark fruit and wood with a good amount of tannin left, so it could easily be good into 2016. 100% varietally correct and if you love great Napa and Bordeaux Cabs, you will love this wine. This was the best vintage in a long time, but year-to-year this is an outstanding Cab for $20, and it is not meant for pop and pour OR to be consumed early, needs some age.

This has improved quite a bit since the note of 2-25-13, it is really starting to open up. We still had to let it breathe and decanted it, and afterwards it still has some strong tannins, but we would call this a Cab with a lot of varietally correct depth, complexity, balance and finish. On the robust side of the spectrum. It should be even better in 2015. This is a prize wine at this price point ($20-ish), especially for Cab.

Very simple, but pleasant wine. This is a good everyday drinker or easy food wine for the week.
Nose: Dark Cherry, Chocolate and a hint of spice. Mid-Palate: A little hint of Oakville character. Smoky with continuing hints of berries and chocolate (faint) with a sheer mouth feel. Finish: Clean and short, but with a nice oily texture.

Have to agree with many of the prior reviews, this is really tight and needs some more cellaring, but we really thought this has lots of potential if one waits until 2014 or 2015, especially at this price point ($20-ish). It was exceptionally tannic with a big fruit nose, fruit and a touch of smoke and earthy wood on the taste. It did open up as the evening went on, but still tight. Apparently this has a touch of Syrah in it, and we could tell that. If this opened up in subsequent years, would merit a higher rating.

Opened about 2 hours before serving; served with grilled lambchops. Dark purple. Rush of blackberries and touch of casis in the nose and initial flavors. Slight chalkiness in the mid-range with mildly astringent tanins in the finish. Moderate length. Good acidity. This is a wine that gets better the longer it is open. While not as good as some of the pro reviews, this is a nice wine at a good price point, it will keep for a few years, and is worth buying for relatively short term (3-8 years) drinking.

- Brick color with medium forming legs and aromas of blackberry and black currant. It's overly acidic and has flavours of blackberry, black currant and raisin with a full body. Coarse texture with a medium finish - Not so great. Very peppery. Needs a decanting and an hour to mellow but still then not that great. Ok for price I guess but this wine was on a list of best of 2012 under $20, don't know why.

PnP, consumed over 4 hours. Nose shows mint, wood and blackberry. Taste of blackberry, chocolate and cedar. Pretty smooth up front but am hit with alcohol in the middle and grippy tannins that bring up the rear. Picked up 2 on sale recently. May try to bury the other for a couple of years.

On first opening the bottle, it exhibits a nose of black fruit that is reserved tight and compact. On the palate, it initially shows black fruit, forest floor, chocolate, and smooth grainy tannins that coat the mouth and a short to medium finish. After 20 minutes, the wine opened up a little, exhibiting baking spices on the nose and a longer finish. After several hours decanting, the wine opened up even more, exhibiting flavors of blackcurrant, dusty earth, with a chalky medium-long finish. Needs time. Best from 2015 to 2000. 92 points.

Very nice cabernet. The mouthfeel is on the medium to light side. Similarly the tannins are there but not overwhelming or particuarly prominent. There are light touches of tobacco, tar, some significant dark berries and vanilla. Its a rather easy drinking cabernet vs. California versions and could benefit from 2 or 3 years of aging, but probably not a lot to be gained by much more aging than that.
