This particular bottle may have been slightly corked, but the wine was convincing and pleasant anyway. The tannins had already softened, but there was still plenty of fruit left. The aromas and flavors of dark fruits and berries, herbs and spices were appealing, but the wine is also providing interesting notes of metal, minerals and smoke, maybe due to aging. As a whole, the wine was rich and balanced now. It went really well with the reindeer flat bone meat during the evening meal of the Finnish Independence Day.

Dark hue. Earthy, dark berries, little spice on the nose. Wonderful CDP. Powerful wine that still has a lot of age remaining. Easy to drink with or without food. This was a gift from a friend received years ago. Popped open to help celebrate. The juice was a real treat-- thanks Jeff and Ann.

Dark red-purple, heady brambly and cassis nose, much more savory than I recalled, and still qualifies as a bruiser, with pretty high alcohol (14.5%?) well integrated. There was a time when we thought these CdP wines were the cat’s meow, and yes, they are often/can often be quite enjoyable although our tastes have definitely changed.

This is a wonderful wine. Yes, modern in the sense that not pure light garrigue style of yesteryear, but the fruit here is pure and in balance and not stewed or excessively ripe. 10 Years on, not falling apart and aging gracefully. Beautiful wine

Pop and pour - peanuts, bramble, raspberry, thyme - gorgeous fruit aromas. On the palate, extremely tannic, structured, big-boned, and high in alcohol (15%). Very pure and refined, and savoury, with superb length, which features a very tannic-drying finish. There is certainly noticeable bottle age development on this wine - it certainly is no longer a youngster - but the awesome structure, together with the purity of fruit expression leads me to believe this has a great future and should improve... 93+

Warm and very ripe fruit verging on overripe, at 18°C this was slightly hot and disjointed, sweet cherry liqueur, olive tapenade, clean fruit flavors (no brett), still a bit tight and tannic, although the fruit shows first signs of age, medium acidity, lovely juicy texture, a bit one-dimensional maybe, but I like this vintage much better than the candy-like 2007. Drink now or over the next 4 years. - 91 points

I don't buy French wine very often. This was a little too "spicy" for me but it was still good. I was hoping for a nice French wood barrel hint but I didn't get any. I think I will stick to my Italian and California wines that I am accustom to and leave the French to the baking only.
PNP and very nice wine....good fruit but no heat and not overly ripe....modern I guess but all in balance and some traditional elements. I really like these wines.

Weekly tasting group RWP #263: Vincent's return :-) (@ VD): Expressive and beautiful, spicy and concentrated bouquet with good garrigue. On the palate a beautiful and juicy wine as well with black berries, herbs and spices like e.g. white pepper, juicy acidity, round tannin and a firm amount of alcohol which is not disturbing. 92 - 93

Isabel Ferrando dinner at Tribecca Grill. A blend of 82% Grenache and 10% Cincault, 8% Syrah that is aged for 18 months, 50% in concrete and 50% in aged wood. A full bodied, lush wine that exhibits velvet tannins and excellent length. This should drink well for years to come

First bottle of a case purchase. An aromatic nose of blackberry and black raspberry licorice, fig, forest floor, pepper and Indian spice notes that follow through on the sweet, sappy full bodied palate which linger effortlessly on the finish. A beautiful wine.

The nose is rich and plush with dark cherry, kirsch, lavender, and dusty spices. The palate is incredibly precise and balanced with a kernel of sweetness delicately wrapped in spices and herbs. This is magnificent - and a huge bargain at the 35 euros or so I paid. Drinking beautifully now and there's certainly no need to wait for the tanins to soften, though I don't see why it wouldn't age nicely too. 93-94

Decanted for two hours and drank over the next four. Great CNDP drinking well now. Corked smelled of cranberry juice. Fragrant nose and garnet color. A little spicy, but I like that. Well balanced and nicely suited the figs I had on hand. Much better than the Saint Prefert Beatus Ille. Well worth the price on this one.

Popped and drank. Great wine! Right up my alley from Rhone. First thing that comes out is white pepper. A little bit of Plastic type nose. Sharp taste. Dried meat on the nose. Raisin and black currant flavors. Quite dry. Delicious mix of Shiraz and Bordeaux. Hints of cherries on the palette great flavors. Would be amazing with meat. Great balance, medium to heavy weight. Medium acid. Big fan of this wine.

93-94pts. This was fantastic and one of the better chateauneufs I have had recently. Black pepper and venison jerky jumping from the glass, with an underlying black cherry jam, and plums on the nose. Big rich taste, dark fruits, some of that black (and white) pepper, a bit of an earth/soil layer as well. Nice finish that wasn't too long, but still made for a very memorable wine. Might have to stock up on these, and look forward to trying the Collection Charles Giraud.

Quite a sexy wine, this. Extremely fragrant with floral tones and sweet crushed berries with hints of spice. Just a wonderful, silky and seductive mouthfeel. Not one I would necessarily call traditional, but not one I'd call modern, either as I get no wood on here. Rather, it seems to straddle the line nicely, with perhaps more emphasis on the fruit and mouthfeel with perhaps the exclusion of some rusticity. Raspberry kirsch and black raspberries that are ripe and sweet, but not roasted. A surprising lack of game or furry elements and the spice doesn't quite have the herbal elements of garrigue, but there are nice violet and lavender notes. More approachable than the Vieux Donjon that followed and ultimately a little less complex, but this is lovely. A-/A.

On a night where I had a Vieux Telegraphe that was Most Impressive, this one just blew me away. From the nose to the palate to the finish. Incredible for the money. The nose pulled me in with crushed ripe berries, both red and blue, a dose of lavender, ginger spiced cookies and exotic floral notes. On the palate, it was as soft as silk with the weight of crushed velvet, showing a deep core of dark fruits that seemed to saturate all the senses. It was both spicy and rich yet finessed with a seemingly impenetrable wall of elegant dark fruit, violet candies, brown sugar and hints of pepper. The finish went on and on with a mix of spices and violet notes.

Under its purple, grenat dress hides a spicy and fruitful mouth. It's straightforward and long. I am extremely impressed by this cuvée, which delicateness gives a jump in its score. I went for this wine because of the WS scoring it a 97, and it wasn't a miss! Had I didn't purchase many top cuvées, I would purchase this by the case.

91+ pts

Yes, this baby is too young but without curiosity, what cat would put the corkscrew in baby wines? We follow the wine for six hours and to no-ones surprise, the last glass is the best. So, store it and wait at least five years for it, probably even ten. With that said, it's one hell of a wine. Raspberries fool around with violets in the lavender with some figs as innocent bystanders. There's a bunch of wet stones, the signature garrigue is hang-gliding around monitoring everything. Acidity is refreshing, there warmth and serious oumph, but no heat. This baby will be spectacular come 2018-2020.
