Last of the case. Was absolutely surprised. Drank the last bottle in 2011. This was the best it ever tasted! Had a nice golden hue, showed good citrus, light yeast. but had this great green apple flavor! Was incredible. The finish went on and on. Just kept on chewing 15 minutes after. Everyone wanted more but that was the last of the 1998 PJ Fleur. @perrier Jouet

- Light gold color with small pearls and aromas of orange blossom. It's somewhat balanced and has flavours of apricot and grapefruit with a medium body. Polished texture with a medium finish - Decided to try one last bottle on the post Thanskgiving brunch and had a big surprise. Amazing that it held its flavor and freshness after all these years. Smooth like you'd hope for and still holding the fruit. Nice!

Not sure I'd fully put this on the downside, but would say it's mature and unlikely to improve. Cellared bottle, showing some oxidation, fine bubbles, decent fruit, good nose, faded fairly quickly.

The wine looks Light gold. The legs are Fast. It smells like a ripe Peach and tastes like Peach, and Lemon. The body is Light/Medium. The wine has Satin-like texture and finishes with a luster of its name sake. After 15 yrs the bubbles aren't quite full tilt. Remarkable retainage of its character.

Cellared perfectly, opened at 45 deg, worried it may be past it's prime from what I've read here- <not unfounded> My tasting from two sips, Citrus & peach w/ hint of lemon and a floral note.
<edit> 4/30/12 After some time to recall previous tastings, these bottles while kept pristine are on a downhill side! Accordingly I'm changing my rating. Must consume the remaining three with in the next month. <edit>

- Yellow color with small pearls and aromas of geranium. It's somewhat balanced and has flavours of peach and grapefruit with a medium body. Round texture with a medium finish - Most likely past prime but cellared surprisingly well for '98 vintage. Still has the citrus and floral notes. No time like a Rose bowl evening to roll out the old stuff!

Toasty and yeasty with still plenty of fizz. You could tell some of the fruit is going away, so drink now as it is still very enjoyable. Every one loved it as an Easter aperitif.

CT was right, this was way past its prime. Too much yeast not enough citrus or florals or anything else. Last of the mohicans for us on this vintage and we are sorry to see it go off so poorly

tasted blind. aromatic nose - some licorice or unusual component, as well as hazelnut. Creamy in the mouth, yet good acidity. Doug tasted and smelled sauerkraut. Refined. While quite enjoyable, it seems hard to justify paying 3-4 times as much as a good entry level NV Champagne (such as Piper-Heidsick Brut NV).

Green floral notes on the nose lead to a crisp yeasty blend of light citrus, a bit of sweet nut, and light toast with medium acidity on the palate. Medium length finish remains consistant with palate. Nice effervescance, light elegant bead. A very nice Champagne but poor QPR.

Rich with floral honey suckle, carried by orange zest and tangerine. Accented by roasted hazelnut and yeast. Excellent texture and presence. Although not quite up to the level of some other tet-de-cuvees, very enjoyable. Drink now-2011. 90 pts.

2007 Champagne Tasting (part 2): About the same quality as the 1996 that I had 2 weeks ago. 40% Pinot Noir, 40% Pinot Meunier and 20% Chardonnay. Selling for $100 at this tasting. Loaded with red fruit notes. Very floral with a sharply focused almost stinging bead. 91 points.

Opened to begin our 'February' wine dinner - actually held March 3rd. The nose had a mild note of bread-yeast, which I love, but not at all overpowering. On the palate, the wine was crisp and refreshing but with a nice almost sweet finish that lasted for a couple of seconds. Not my favorite champagne ever, but very nice, and I would be happy to have it again.

Opened for my girlfriend's birthday - this is a very solid bottle of champagne. Crisp and very refreshing on the palate. It has a wonderful green apple smell and even a slight pale green glow in the glass.

Better than the critics' scores, if you ask me. Starts out with a steely minerality, but that gives way to green apple, citrus, and what my wife describes as maple-syrup-and-pancakes. Medium-bodied, fruity, and showing just the slightest touch of sweetness (on the sweet side of Brut, I think). It has a refined bead, good balance, and a mid-length finish. A landmark? By no means. But it doesn't disappoint either.
