Enjoyed this bottle-- dark garnet in color, cherry notes, and easy drinking. Perhaps I'm a little particular to Seghesio product-- the always seem to put out decent bottles. This one doesn't disappoint! Nice with a medium body. I could drink this all night!
I have been a fan of Seghesio for many years and enjoy their Sangiovese. This is a young one and not as full bodied as earlier vintages but is a nice wine. I found it smooth and soft with a nice tannin balance. Think about 2 or 3 more years in the cellar would make it more enjoyable.
Tasted at an in-store wine tasting. It smelled better than it tasted and it didn't smell all that inviting. This was a disjointed mess that lacked fruit, ripeness (very green tasting) or any other redeeming characteristic. I would have thought there was something wrong with the bottle if it wasn't poured by the wine maker.
Tart raspberry, cherry, spicy herb and earthy tones, rounded out with a soft tannic finish. The acidity of this wine paired well to pasta with tomato basil sauce. Pleasant now, but should be more fruit forward with more time in the bottle.
Colour: Ruby, medium minus intensity, legs, clear Nose: medium plus intensity, clean, developing. Burnt biscuit, cherry, coconut, chocolate - a bit like cherry ripe, spice - almost cinnamon Mouth: Medium plus tannin grippy and chalky, flavour intensity, medium acid, body. A little cloying...cherry, some chocolate, medium finish. Nah
