  • 2/3, excellent cork
Pale/medium garnet core, wide very pale garnet rim. Nose is quietly fragrant, strawberries, soil, touch of truffle. Some iron filing notes. Medium bodied, red fruits, soil, lightly firm tannin still, not overly generous, fresh acidity, savoury game notes on the reasonably good length finish. Very good if not out of the top draw, drinking reasonably well, no hurry.
    Purchased Oct 2003, STWC, £25.

  • Medium ruby core, narrow garnet rim.
Medium intense, relatively developed nose with raspberries, evident sous-bois and some chalky notes. A little uninspiring.
On the palate this is a medium bodied wine with low/medium firm tannins and medium/medium + acidity. This shows moderately intense stewed red fruit with earth and sous-bois notes and there are some slightly harsh residual tannins on the medium length finish.
Overall this lacks a little ripeness and life and it's difficult to see it improving much from here. We'll see in 12-18 months.
