Opened N hour before serving and decanted. Perplexing wine. It seemed slightly corked, and maybe the corkiness increased with more air, but some tastes were cork-free. Fruit was intense and vibrant to start, just obscured by the musty notes, but that intensity lessened with more air. Others disagreed, but I will label this mildly corked.

BYO Centropa (Centropa, Oslo, Norway): Moden, utviklet farge, murstens kant. Svakt uklar. Moden duft av jordbærsaft/-syltetøy samt innslag av lakris og anis. Elegant anslag. Bløt, godt moden, men deilige, kompleks og sødmefull og litt "funky".

Lucien Le Moine Tasting (My home - Chicago IL): Opened a couple of hours in advance. Lots of textural charm, much like the Estournelles-St.-Jacques from the previous flight, even if not quite as elegant or bright. Still, very engaging black fruit coming across as wonderfully fresh.

Expressive nose displaying concentrated ripe black fruit, blackberry, black cherry, lavender, sap, a slight hint of sous bois, clove and earth. There is a hint of Beaujolais like animal note. Excellent concentration, layers upon layers of concentrated black fruit, rich and opulent yet silky, bright acidity and earthy mineral, a long sweet black fruit driven finish with animal and clove at the end. This is a big scale wine that is drinking nicely. In line with the producer style, i.e. big and bold. Although enjoyable, it can improve for another decade or more, gaining sous bois, tertiary notes and subtler fruit.

Decanted for 4hrs. Highly expressive and alluring aromas of violet, red and blue fruits, coffee, earth and touch of herbs, very fragrant. Very fresh, lovely acidity accompany by perfectly ripe small berries and salinity. The transparency here is excellent. Salivating, juicy, persistent.

Cherry, sous bois, mushroom; full, clinging, very gradually downward sloping, somewhat acidic, long and powerful finish; better on its own than with food and comes off rather older than its actual age

Medium garnet, not as cloudy as this producer usually is. Discrete and after 1h of decanting more open nose with lots of spices, earth, masculine, I am missing some of the tell tale leather, secondary, animalic notes of LLM, still nice nose, very Gevrey. The palate is unfortunately too tannic and acidic for the fruit, Meh! Nose 91, palate 87. I clearly prefer their 2010 NSG les Vaucrains in this price point.
Executive Wine Seminars: 2010 Red Burgundies: The 1er Crus: A very pretty nose of sour cherries mixed with a hint of crushed walnuts. The wine is tangy, viscous, vibrant and long. Delicate, perfumed and just excellent now. Together with Dominique Laurent's Vosnee-Romanee, my favorite wine of this round. Group score: 19.

Chassin Tasting Event at 96 Winery Road (96 Winery Road): Mid ruby red with a deep savoury aromas. The palate has chewy plum skin texture overlaid with ripe fruit compote: black plum and black cherry underpinned with a fine, vibrant acidity. As wine opened the tannins melded from sinewy to more sandy. and fruit showed brighter with fleshyness. The finish was long with a chewy sweet (red cherry juice) character, quite broad in the mouth yet altogether perhaps more lightweight than expected. An attractive rather than sophisticated wine.

Committing Infanticide, not once but twice, 2010 Le Moine Les Cazetiers and 2009 Trotanoy (Fairfax, Va): Start a bit tight, sweet, floral and sappy. With air, it opens up beautifully, perfectly ripe blackberries, flower, sap, clove, stem and earth. Beautiful silky palate, very bright acidity and sweet tannins that are beautifully integrated already. The 10 displays more pronounced acidity and structure, also a bit deeper and darker fruit expression. Once again, I highly recommend this wine to those who like generous and opulent ripe fruit of Cali pinot and are exploring Burgundy. The expressive nose displays beautiful sweet ripe fruit yet it also maintains beautiful tension and vibrant energy. I don’t anticipate this wine shutting down hard but it will need at least eight to ten more years of cellaring to reach the peak.

Lucien Le Moine Cellar Visit and Tasting with Mounir Saouma (Beaune Burgundy): Barrel tasting. Very good floral start with fresh herbs, black fruit and dark chocolate. Red and black fruit on palate with lots of power and fine tannins on long finish. I definitely preferred this to the Lavaux St.-Jacques today, but I've also liked this Le Moine cuvee almost every vintage. Very good for its level.
