Interesting - and agreeing with previous reviewers - hard to figure out. Sipping pre-dinner, I found the pepper/spice and everything else upfront really nice - but wasn't sure about the way it finished. But trying it a few minutes later with a simple turkey meatloaf and roasted (fresh-out-of-the-ground organic CSA) root vegetables - I wasn't sure about the match on initial taste, but then it lingered and finished on a beautiful silky, textured fade-out. I'd buy more just for the curiosity of it, but I have no idea what I'd try to serve it with ...

Nose: very aromatic, perfumed, sweet, floral (rose, lavender, dried violet) cherry, raspberry, herbs (thyme and sage) black tea, spices Taste: medium bodied, medium tannins, medium- acidity, cherry, purple fruits, rose, hibiscus tea, spices, thyme, spices, slightly earthy, quite long finish with sage notes Very unique wine maybe not 100% my cup of tea but quality is there and if you like this kind of wine your score will be easily 90+ points

There's no getting around the fact that this is an odd wine that isn't for everyone. Even those of us who like it have to be in the right mood. Had it with some rich, earthy food (mushrooms) and it didn't really work. Maybe better with herbs and/or acidity?

As previously stated in more detail, a fantastically odd wine. Not for everyone, but intriguing for me. Much better with food. Right now, hints of secondary funk that could benefit from age.

This is one of the most unique and interesting red wines I've ever had. Totally weird and probably not for everyone, but if you're always on the hunt for oddities, this variety is a must. Amazing notes of juniper, pungent flowers, menthol, herbs. Bright and juicy.
Had this at a Italian wine press tasting and it clearly stood out after 50+ wines. Winemaker told me it would age very well for at least 10 years. 90-92pts
Gorgeous floral perfume, like a red-fruit tinged Viognier. Light to medium bodied with medium acidity. Tart black cherries and blackberries on the palate with a hint of savory herb. Some light, grippy tannins toward the finish. My first experience with the Lacrima grape and one I highly recommend.

The nose on this wine is predominantly white pepper, followed by some sweet (almost sickly) florals and red fruit. In the mouth it is almost like chewing a peppered steak. The pepper dominates, but there is a bloodiness in the background. The fruit is almost non existant, and the pepper dominates- which makes me think that this wine wasn't ripe when picked and that it's palatability comes from no small amount of winemaking intervention. The tannins are unusually smooth for such a young wine, and the palate is completely disconnected, tired, fruitless... hard to explain, and a little hard to drink. No flagrant faults. Will not buy this one again, especially at this price.

Medium bodied, dark ruby red, a little hot on the nose
Cherries, and spice, thin, dry, some tannins.
A uninteresting wine. Lacks character

Slow Wine Guide 2012 (Release tasting) (Metropolitan Pavilion): The nose showed violet candies, wild berries and spice. On the palate, it was fresh with blackberry fruit and a hint of pepper. Tannins lingered on the finish with floral spicy notes.
