Last had in '12, so here we go. Light to medium yellow. Aromas of petrol, honeyed pears, and wet rocks. Medium body, acid, and finish, with a light sweetness (that could use a bit more acidity to balance), and flavors of honey, pear, green apple, and minerals. It's ok. A little flabby and in need of acid. Fine enough with sushi tonight.

I'm not a fan of most 2011 Saar wines and I've found them generally too soft, unfocused, and lacking that greener tartness and brightness I look for in the Saar. This one's no different - it tastes quite ripe and sweet with a fruit profile that's much richer and more peachy than what I look for in the Saar. There's some smoky and petrol-like development apparent, but I'm still left wishing for more depth and acidity.

Keeps getting better, regretfully, I’ve only one bottle left. I get a lot of ripe pear and yellow plum with a lite apple on the side. Lots of lovely sweetness and great body.

another slightly leaking cork. not much to add to last note except that this has pronounced terse acidity and sweetness that seem completely disjointed. this was a miss this vintage.

PNP. Cork a tad leaky. Color straw. Nose mostly grapefruit w some pear. Swishing shows creamy acid structure and light RS. Sipping actually enhances the acid a bit leaving this on the tart side. Finish med length. Good not great vintage

Nice aromatics, pale yellow color with flavors of ripe fall tree fruits. Very good concentration and subsequent length, would like to see a broader flavor profile. Drinks well now and will continue to drink well for a number of years.

PNP. peach and TDN mark the nose w maybe some green apple. swishing shows good acid, but the RS is more dominant particularly on the finish which I detect a little sulfur? sipping shows the acid and RS not integrating. good enough with indian food but not my favorite vintage of this.

PNP. This bottle was reductive so decanted. Still had a sulphuric rubbery note so left open in fridge. After three nights the nose shows dense Riesling fruit with matchstick aromas. Swishing shows great acidity and fruit but the sulfuric note is prominent and lingers a little. Not what I remember and hope the sulphur is either bottle variation or will evolve out.

Excellent QPR. Lime and mineral nose, medium mid palate, lots of slate and grapefruit rind in the very long finish. Comes across relatively dry and elegant in the finish.

Losing some of its flab. This is developing nicely. Classic slate and citrus notes are coming through cleanly. Great for sipping on a warm summer day -- especially at it this price point.

Restaurant purchase - quick note. Good color. Great fruit on nose. Started a little sweet when chilled, but started showing its bones as it warmed. A perennial favorite and this vintage no exception.

The more time goes by the more this wine sheds a layer of fat, and shows some underlying structure and tightens up on the finish. Lots of lime and leafy elements dominarte on the nose and palate, emphasizing that this is a Saar wine. It's rich, but balanced, and quietly drinkable. Before you know it the glass is empty. Great value for about $15.

Showing quite a lot of baby fat, but also Saar-typical lime and cassis leaf elements. Will need time to show its underlying structure, but very quaffable now.

White peaches, limes and a green leafy undertone mark this as Saar wine for me. The peach element certainly says riper vintage. It's rather sweet right now, though bottle age should tame that. There's adequate acidity coursing through the background, though I would prefer this had been finished (in whatever way it was finished) as feinherb/halbtrocken. Good wine, but it will rest for a good while in my cellar before I go opening any quantity of bottles.

Very light straw color. Pretty nose of white flowers, stone fruit, honeysuckle, white pepper, and mineral. Medium to full bodied, with similar notes on the palate. Pretty balanced, but personally I would prefer a bit more acidity. Good.

(10%) Medium weight on entry with a nice ying and yang between the acidity and fruit. This one stays finally balanced (even restrained in the way it manages the sweetness) through a spiced, but subtle, finish that goes on (and on and on) for days. A perfect match for spicy Asian fare and a whole lot of other fare. A very nice Spatlese and the potential to deliver some QPR to boot if you can find this one for under $15

Just gorgeous. Don't really know what I can ask for more of here. Perfect balance of weight, depth of flavor, and acidity. Lemon curd on the nose, and tremendously clean on the palate but with good weight and a hint of sweetness. Paired beautifully with Chinese takeout.
10% alc. Sample for review.
