One to chew on! Great balanced mouthfeel, so yammy the tasty stonefruit, still some sweetness remarkable, but the lively acid keeps it fresh, will improve for 5+ years more easily, **(*+)

I've tried several bottles over the years and have generally been disappointed. Tropical fruit like pineapple and lechee but insufficient acidity to balance it out and I discern little minerality. While it is inexpensive, I find it too one-dimensional. I'll give the remaining bottles more time.

Very nice Kabinett. On the nose, cold steel and prominent floral. Initially on palate robust mix of cold fruit, with some petrol and emerging hint of candied spice. Acidity more prominent over time. Nice long finish for Kabinett. Qpr extraordinaire

Loads of acid and mineral, slate. nose of limes, apples and maybe something tropical like lychee. Floats effortlessly on the mouth. I wish I had more. MMMMnnnn.
I am thinking some Quince -Asian pear as the most dominant flavor after lime, which lays the acidic backbone. I really wish I had chose something else. Excellent!

Great QPR. Stone fruit, limes, river rocks, and a touch of something exotic. Medium-plus acidity. Excellent mouthfeel, the acidity lifts the fruit and creates wonderful layering.

Another dubious cork; nearly completely soaked, only a year or so after release. What a shame to take some the world's best Rieslings and let them fade under corks that don't actually seal. If reluctant to invest in good cork, why not just use screw caps and end this terrible waste?

Third bottle. Cork in good shape this time. Not as bright as it was on release, but given an hour to breath and warm up a bit its opens up nicely. 88-89 Three bottles left. Will probably open another soon and hold the last two a a further 2-4 years.

Still amazing that a Nahe wine in the hands of a modern master can have such chiseled definition, wonderfully sectioned fruit and a nice balance even at this young stage. Pear, lemon, tropical fruit scents and a less minerally, more oily backbone than the Mosel wines, this is good for drinking now or waiting 5 years+.

A little worried about this bottle - ill fitting cork? Bottle opened after two hours in the fridge. Half the cork is soaked - unusual for a bottle that is only 1 year after release. Anyway, doesn't seem to be as focused or precise as the first bottle we had last year.
Pale yellow. Very clear and precise yet complex nose. On the palate excellent fruit definition, marked acidity and a refreshing, mineral finish. What a great, classic Kabinett!

In addition to the stellar early drinking 2011 vintage for kabinett comes a surprise from the Nahe-- fully expressed juicy well defined fruit with a great acid backbone and no excess or viscous sweetness. Jumps out of the bottle with a vivacious fruit explosion, lemon, peach, quince and floral scents. First rate!

Donnhoff Riesling Masterclass, with Cornelius Donnhoff (Handford Wines, London): Light petrolly nose, ripe fruits “very 2011 in style” to quote Cornelius Donnhoff. Young and primary of course. 10% alc and with 40g/l of sugar. Feels like a spatlese due to its lower acidity. Richer but lacks that light beauty of a Kabinet. 88-89

Pale lemon in color. Oppulent green apple and honeyed aromas abound with enticing wisps of nutmeg and allspice present. On the palate tart green apple prevails with nicely integrated flavors of beeswax and tropical lime on a granite base. While RS exists here the finish is steely cool and refined in comparison to the racy Spatlese tasted previously. Great summer wine!

Cracked open a bottle to see how it was. What a sup prise, remarkable stuff, still very young with a small effervescence. Lots of minerality with a great balance, lots of complexity and a lovely length.

Consistent with prior tasting notes. Full of tart apple and having a lime acid complementing a great mineral backbone. The RS level when warmed can be felt and it tastes very much like Spatlese that has been declassified. This has enough power, acid and mineral to last for a very long time. It would be nice to revisit in in 15 years, but I doubt I will have that kind of patience. A stunning qpr from donnhoff.

Deep straw. Lots of petrol/hydrocarbons on nose. Too much, really, as that character obscures whatever fruit would be showing up on the nose. On the palate, very firm acidity -- finally! Good weight. Quite mineral on the palate and on the decently long finish. Good wine. (Second flight, #1/3WOTF)

Very pale yellow, clear. On the nose pears, but also very airy floral notes, and delicate aromatic herbs. On the palate it starts sweet with quinces on a background of subtle bitterness, reminding of lemon zest. It has crisp acidity and surprising flavor intensity from entry to finish. It finishes very long on an orange note, with a chalky texture. Wow! ***

Lots of apple. Very precise. As sweet as one might expect from a Kabinett with 10% alcohol. The first out of a case of 6; just released. Next bottle to be sampled next year. Excellent value for money. Benefits from some air, give it 30min+ and don't drink it too cold.

Much more full in texture than the wines of the Mosel. Beautiful nose of pear, white pitted fruit and some sweet apple and tropicals as this aired out. This was excellent with a good acid backbone. If I can show will power I may be able to age a bottle of this for 10 years, but I doubt it. Donnhoff rocks!
