These are always great. The last of this vintage. If you have the patience, aging Tavel is a rewarding experience, especially at this quality level.
I agree with the previous note of Forceberry. I got a bit more citrus than he/she seemed to note. Also, the alcohol heat is a little bit distracting from the complex fruit/mineral/floral/waxy complexity of the wine. I think this producer makes the most serious rosé anywhere.

Luminous, somewhat developed translucent color with an orange hue of Aperol. Very rich and somewhat developed nose with bold aromas of sweet golden apples, strawberries, some aged waxy character, a little bit of rose hip soup, light raspberry leaf tones and a hint of blackberry jam. The wine is juicy, full-bodied and quite weighty on the palate with ripe flavors of sweet golden apples, some stony mineral tones, a little bit of alcohol warmth, light citrus fruit tones, a hint of white peach and a touch of melon. The medium-plus acidity lends some good balance to the wine, but doesn't feel high enough to lend real freshness and sense of structure to the wine. The finish is long, juicy and quite powerful with flavors of cooked rose hips, some bruised apple, a little bit of wild strawberry, light raspberry marmalade tones, a hint of sweet red cherry and a touch of darker fruits. The high alcohol shows a bit.
A wonderful, rich and complex rosé with some age. Often rosés are said to be consumed within the first year or two, but this wine is still going very strong at the age of almost 8 years and although showing some developed tones, is still far from being old and fully tertiary. The overall style here is very ripe and weighty with quite modest alcohol, so perhaps this wine is better on its own rather than a food wine. A complex and rewarding effort that is drinking well right now, but might even continue to develop further in a cellar. True to the Tavel style, this is an impressive powerhouse of a rosé.

Dark pink-red color. Aromas of bay, thyme, cherry, and peach. Palate has watermelon, thyme, bay, and some heat on a medium finish. Consistent with past bottles and holding in there, despite the extra time in the bottle.

PHMG WAG: the Southern Rhones (Chez Lyon in Eugene, OR): We almost had summer like weather for this tasting and this wine drove it home. Strawberry pie, minerals, spice, cherries, and a floral note all framed by the mouth watering texture and acidity. $30 for "rozay"? ouch.
Pale salmon color. Aromas of thyme, strawberry, watermelon, cranberry, and cherry. Palate follows with sweet melon and tart cranberry notes carrying into a spicy finish. Lip-smacking and dangerous (too easy to drink too much). Drink.
Great Tavel rose but not the best vintage. Balanced, relatively dense and a concentrated wine. Red fruits, strawberries with a lot of kirsch. A point of minerality adding complexity. Less minerality than the big brother (le reine des bois) makes easy to enjoy. One of my favourite rose.

Clear, pale salmon, presence of legs. Clean, medium intensity developing nose, strawberries, cherries, hints of flowers and citrus. Dry, medium+ acidity, low tannins, medium+ alcohol, medium- body, medium intensity flavours, strawberries, cherries and blue flowers. Medium+ finish. Acceptable quality. Drink now, not suitable for further ageing.

Color is of watermelon. Wonderful flavor with notes of orange rind, strawberry, red berries, and some nice minerality. ABV is 14.9%, but it doesn't drink like a high-alcohol wine. Good QPR. Drink now or in the coming year.

Last bottle of the case. Beautiful deep reddish-pink color with enticing aromas of framboise and spice. Like biting into ripe, sweet strawberries without being over the top. A perfect compliment to any dish off of the grill this past summer. Mordorée is definitely one of my favorite rosé producers and an excellent value.

Amaranth center with a pale rose rim. Nose of cotton candy and cherries, with a very slight savory hint. Palate is tart, green and backward. This is not at all characteristic for this producer and a bit of a disappointment, given how well these usually show. Hopefully this is just a laggard bottle.

Ordered off the list at Harvest Moon. Like most Tavel rosés in my experience, this is no simple quaffer. A serious wine of substance, with beautiful balance (this showed much better than the first bottle we had from our cellar), and deep red fruit. Very nice.

Wonderful! A clear, medium salmon color with a medium intense nose of white flowers, cranberries, dried raspberries and strawberries. Clean, medium body with high acidity that dances around the tongue and flavors of aniseed and light red fruits. The finish is of medium-plus length and this rates as an very good wine. For a truly outstanding bang for the buck, I recommend the domaine's Cote du Rhone.

tasting the May releases from the Government monopoly with "the cupbearers" (Näringslivets hus, Stockholm): neon colored liquid almost kills any momentum for me to hit it off with a wine from the start, so it does not bode well. On the nose, there's a lot of winegum sweetness. On the palate, there are somethings that speak in favor of this wine, with a hint of spice, a surprisingly dry and light body. still, this producer and I rarely agree. this time is no different.

Needs cellaring to get rid of the jellied candy notes. Lots of raspberry aromas with serious minerality underneath - anise, sea-salt and wet stones. Hold for a year or two.

A very nice vintage. Dry, firm and well balanced. It has a little more structure than the CdR but the CdR is exceptional this year and a better choice for my rosé dollars.

Dark rosé color with a hint of orange. Starbright.
Candied strawberry, pomegranate, rose. Rich body, hearty tannins for a rose, typical of Tavel.
