Surprisingly very good fruit with a tart berry opening followed by a lavender taste that was bright and enjoyable. My only regret is that this was the last bottle in the cellar.

Double decanted, heavy sediment. Deep purple. Big nose of prunes and graphite. Rich, full-bodied flavors of plums, cherries and blackberries. Incredibly long aftertaste. Should be good for several more years.
Day 2: Nose has faded. Flavors are softer, and wine seems to be more integrated. Aftertaste not as long. Still a very nice wine.

Purple color in the glass, slightly dusty looking. Nose of kirsch, fertilizer, tobacco and plum. Flavors of berries, cherries and plums. Medium acidity, medium tannin, full bodied. Drink or hold.

PnP very rich, dark flavors. Beautiful nose. Tasted great right after opening, hit a lull after 20 minutes but found a beautiful balance about an hour/hour and a half after opening. Next time I might slow ox for an hour or two

Black cherry on the nose. Also a little run raisin ice cream. Mild wood. A lot of fruit going on with the nose. Also a fair amount of spice going on.We drank this wine without a decant. Opened and let sit for 30 minutes. Then poured and it was in a good place. I don't think that this requires a decant. Enjoy this wine now and the coming year or two. It is in a good place.

One hour decant. Dark olive color, fully opaque. Coats the glass. Aromas of anise, red cherry, and cassis are predominate, with very subtle aromas of vanilla and spice. Greets the palate with beautifully layered and still developing flavors of crushed rock, red apple, black olive, black currant, black tea, and cherry. Beautiful silky feel. Very integrated oak notes, very much woven within the wine. Still very firm in structure, finishes with darker fruit that lasts 45+ seconds. I've had newer vintages of this wine that showcase the anise and brambly fruit of the Carignane in a more aggressive fashion... this is seamless and elegant, pretty and powerful... Seems to be just hitting its stride. Outstanding.

this wine is fabulous when you smell it and when you drink it. The colour is a beautiful ruby. the smell is intense and it reminds me black berry,liqorice In the palate is like velvet with very gentle tannins. to drink more and definetly to have in the cellar.Now I understand why they call it the new Sassicaia. Drinking really well now. Still somewhat tannic on opening but really opened up after a decant of one hour. Drank over 2 days and no evolution whatsoever the second day. Will hold for a few years, but better drink within 3 years. Lovely.

This was an OK wine but nothing really sensational........had not really moved anywhere in 3 years and was still quite tannic. Some decent fruit on the palate and a nice length but nothing I couldn't get from a decent Carignano at a fraction of the price of this. Not good value

Very nice. Powerful dark fruit. Mature but still going strong. Some moldy or fungus flavours wich make it interesting. A touch of vanilla and oak, but not much. Some sweetness but balanced by acid. Smooth tannins. Very tasty and drinkable indeed.

Ruby Color, Medium body. Red raspberry fruit with woody mushroomy dirty flavors (pleasant). Tannins are nice; smooth but still a good backbone. Very good with a ragu.

Decent foursquare wine with interesting structure and balance. Needed some time to settle but felt this was a lovely smooth drinking wine with sour-cherry and some cabernet backbone. Not certain this represents good VFM as cost £37 ($68) and was being touted as better than Sassicaia! (no reference point here). Looking forward to next bottle with a year or two under its belt.

Licata 2005 "Giro d'Italia" (Diepenbeek, Belgium): Moderniste, boisé, "à la Rolland", puissant, tannique, concentré, tannins bien mûrs. Rapport QP difficile...probablement lié au vinificateur Tachis (San Guido et donc Sassicaia). (€ 30)
