Wow! This was amazing start to finish. Capsule was a bit stuck to the bottle, cork showed a bit of saturation which gave me some concern. First sip immediately after opening screamed youth. Vibrant and fresh. Maybe the 12% Viognier amplified it? Violets and faint leather intermingled with black/blue fruits. Stayed consistent for 2 days. I’ve had many a Lytton Syrah and this clearly the best.

So nice, at peak !! An ATP selection gently aged a decade and a half to the pinnacle of flavor maturity !! Dry cork that required Durand extraction without too much drama. Consumed over two days. This Syrah was co-fermented with 12% Vioginer, Côte Rôtie style. Deep dark burgundy color with medium clarity. This bottle displayed spicy aromas of raspberry and cherry with flavors of back cherry, raspberry, blackberry, pepper, garrigue, and earth with a lush long finish. Truly an age worthy wine, this was my last bottle of this vintage year.

Three Wines From Three Continents (Private Event): Cellared properly since release. Double decanted around 10am and taken to a tasting. 14.5% ABV. tasted in a flight with 2 other syrah's from around the globe. Light to medium garnet crimson. Fragrant nose, spicy, floral and with a whiff of alcohol but also vanilla and black cherry. Medium+ acidity and medium- tannin. Leaner than the other 2 Syrah's but no less interesting. Shows red fruit like cherry and crushed red berries as well as menthol in textured layers , Finish is delicious and round with stony minerals. Only thing that hold this back from being the best of the flight is that little bit of alcohol that is a bit too obvious.
Wow! Be sure to let this breathe 30 min. Forrest taste was strawberry, which morphed to black pepper and darker fruits. Well-balanced. Great accompaniment to pork sugo w pasta and broccolini w garlic.

Always nice to get a bottle that's right in its prime. Everything has come together at this stage - the jammy fruit that stuck out too much when this was younger has mellowed out but remains bright and flavorful, with juicy red and black fruits hiding a bit in the nose (which is dominated by game, forest floor, tobacco, toast and black pepper) but providing a strong introduction on the palate. Tannins are robust but completely rounded out, giving a nicely silky character to the full body. Acidity measures up to the fruit, and the finish lingers for a long time with game, cocoa and coffee. Alcohol is prominent and just a bit out of balance, leaving this just short of outstanding.

Same notes as my last bottle. The wine has leather, bramble, spice, blackberry, vanilla, black tea, sweet dark fruit, wrapped up with a nice acidity and resolved tannins. Very nice to drink right now, but will certainly last a few more years.

As one other taster noted recently, I do get the leather and spice nose, but it seems a little bit muted. But on the palate I get vanillia, pepper, dark fruits, bramble, cedar and tobacco. A very nice wine.

Solid but not stellar. A bit jammy, both in the nose and on the palate. Aroma is earthy and meaty, with lots of dark, dense fruit and just a dash of pepper. Moderately jammy raspberry and plums up front, mild acidity, slight bit of cinnamon-like spice in the finish. A little bit less concentration of fruit would bump this up a notch.

Nose: The nose is extremely well balanced with dark red fruits, violets, spice notes, some pepper, and dark red cherries. There is good complexity to the nose and it has certainly tied itself together better having been open for a few days.
Taste: Full bodied with a very silky feel along with medium acidity and sneaky tannins. There is a plushness to the feel with dark red cherries, black fruits, pepper, violets, mineral notes, and some spices.
Overall: This certainly needs age. When this was first opened, it was very lush and on the forward side. But, being vacu-vin'd for a few days in the fridge, this has smoothed out and become more complex and balanced. This needs more time to fully show what it has, and it would be interesting to see where it goes in the next few years.

Man this is good. Aromas of bacon, dense sage & allspice, violet/lavender, and black currants. Juicy and vibrant on the palate with bright blue fruit, mineral, along with hints of white pepper and spice. Medium bodied, with fine tannins and a flourishing juicy finish. I instant-decanted this using a Soirée, or a splash decant would be fine as well. Awesome now, and should be so for some time. 92+

At La Bocca in White Plains with JT. Drank after a St Innocent Shea/Pinot, it had about an hour to open (recommended). Paired nicely with a rustic chicken and sausage dish we ordered
Consistent with prior notes - great black fruits, floral, spices. Dark purple up to the rim - great color. Nose was lush dark fruits, tar, floral. This bottle had more earthiness than I remember in prior bottles. Medium to long finish.
Drinks very well now and a great pairing for foods with more spice. Has the ability to age if you are inclined.

Classic, and very enjoyable old school Syrah. Dark purple to the rim, aroma of black fruits, tar, creosote, petrol (none of these in a bad way), full bodied, nice acidity, all in balance. No real signs of age, this has the backbone and stuffing to go another 10 years. Great wine. One of those ATP selections I wish I had purchased more of!

Paired with 2007 Ridge Buchignani Ranch Zin, as first glasses of red for the meal. Nice, clear ruby, medium weight, good depth of flavor. This wine surprised many - they had not expected this level of flavor and depth out of a Syrah - it turned some heads.

Had this at the winery, more open at the tasting. One hour decant. Restrained at first, took some time to show. Had this with a spicy shrimp/tomato and bean dish Valerie made.
Nose had spice, black fruits, cherry, floral/lavender. Red and black fruits, spice/pepper, blueberry pie, tart blackberry. Texture is very smooth. May not be as "ripe" as most CA Syrah, would describe it as rounded.
Nice wine, will probably improve, but drinking very well right now.
