Deep Ruby red in appearance. Long less. Strong aromas of raspberry and cherry, with hints of vanilla. Low on the acidity, but and tannin content. Full bodied. Overall, balanced and enjoyable. This wine has definitely gotten better with age and it is in its prime.

Opened in spring 2016, probably about a year past its peak. Still plenty of fruit and chocolate notes, silky tannins but has gone a bit soft. Late opening showed very slight turn towards those caramel characteristics of a turn towards oxidation. This actually added a bit to the flavour spectrum, I'm guessing this wine won't last more than a day now that the bottle's been opened.

Full bodied with red and dark fruit including ripe cherry, and blackberry with some mild heat. More cab-like than most zins. Went great with a grilled burger topped with aged cheddar and horseradish. It's very good now and will probably good for another 3 to 5 years.

Dark purple with a black core. Very open, fruit forward nose of berry pie, chocolate, vanilla and some Zin spice. Full body, smooth tannins and creamy texture, maybe lacking a bit in the acidity department. A touch of heat in the otherwise very pleasant and fairly long finish.

Deep dark purple, quiet nose of black cherry, big bold taste, black currant, oak and earth. good balance considering the alcohol, long finish, drinking well but will cellar nicely for a few more years.

- Violet color. It's somewhat balanced with a medium/full body. Juicy texture with a medium finish - Not really my style but good. Definitely fruit forward but still interesting. A little too much heat on the nose and finish. Read a lot of suggestions to pair turkey dinner with a zin and i must agree this worked well.

A buttery aroma with inky fruit, coffee, violets, licorice, birch resin and red berries. Quite sweet on the palate with some slightly overripe currants. A slight acidity does a decent job with holding the wine together. This wine is not really up my alley, but for what it is it's very good.

Not for a deep thinker. Muted nose. It's a big, dark fruit wine in a simple straight forward package. Even though it's big and heavy, it's still smooth. Chocolate and blackberry flavors.

Very inky. Deep red, purple. Concentrated. Intense nose of ripe Raspberry and more fruit as Blackberry and Plum. Hints of Mold Cheese, Chocolate and Caramel. Some Sweetness; Vanilla. Richly flavored. Dark Berries and Cherries. Some Plum. A bit of Dried Leaves, Perfume and Oak. Quite heavy with a lot of present alcohol! Long warm finish of Dark Berries. Luckily lacking unpleasant heat characteristics, the wine is a little bit out of balance and heavy. (for more details and pics look at my Blog: cellartv.wordpress.com)

Again, showing so so well for a Zin with this high an alcohol level. Beautiful dark blackberries and black cherry, milky chocolate and delicious roast meat, smoke and some dark gray pepper. The palate shows nice finesse and isn't too hot or dense. There is tons of fruit to hold up the alcohol and more gorgeous spice and meat qualities show through on the palate. I can't recommend this winery only bottling enough. If you're out West pick up at least three bottles for the cellar. Should age well too, but who will wait to find out, really?

WSET Level 2 Class 7 (BCIT Downtown Campus, Vancouver, BC): Tasted blind. Clear, medium+ ruby purple. Nose is clean, medium+ intensity, aromas of brambles, black cherry, cola, vanilla/oak, slight herbal/savoury hint. Palate is dry, medium acid, medium- tannin, medium+ body, with flavours of sweet, creamy blackberries, raisins, spice, vanilla. Finish is medium. Good quality Zinfandel, if a bit generic.

Did not even realize Caymus made a Zinfandel until we stopped by their tasting room in Napa. Not your typical Zin as this definitely is made in the "Caymus style". If you like Caymus cabs, I think you will like this Zin

This is a truly great buy for a fabulous Red Zinfandel. Very smooth, great color, and great to drink now. It does open up with a few hours of decanting, but delightful either way. You will not find a better bang for the buck in the Zin family. Better buy it soon as it sells out rather quickly, even though it is not distributed.

very rich, very full body zinfandel.....almost has a "buttery" aroma and mouth-feel. Lots of dark fruit, some subtle spice, but balanced with good acidity as well. Great fruit on the palatte, easy finish. This was great both before and with dinner. Can't way to see how this one evolves over time. May have to source out some earlier vintages for comparison.

Huge, thick zin made in the Caymus style. Dark color. Smooth even though it's such a big fruit bomb. Flavors are of dark berries. Not sophisticated but easy (fun) to drink. As stated by others, Caymus fans will enjoy this wine.

California Wine Country with Jill for our 30th's; 9/9/2012-9/15/2012 (California): Taste at the winery. Restrained nose, especially for a Zinfandel. Softer with a touch of Petite Sirah believe it or not. Darker nose still with black fruit, rocky black soil. Palate is balanced but still has grip with a little plum. Great big fruit but shows well without any heat at a whopping 15.2%. Still nice and dense and brooding. Enjoyable to drink. Don't need to think too much about it but still complex and showing nice acid.

This is a 90.5 score, If you love their Cabernets, you will like (probably love) this Zinfandel. Big with rich ripe fruit, a deep, purplish-red color, raspberry nose with ripeness and natural qualities. Abundant and ripe black cherry and plum are full, forward and richly-flavored, with the zinfandel’s high acidity balanced by fruit. If you like the Caymus style (and I do), you will love this wine.
