A private dinner (Restaurant De Salentein, Landgoed De Salentein, Nijkerk, NL): From 20 Grand and Premier Cru vineyards on the Montagne de Reims and in the Côte des Blancs, 65% Pinot Noir, 35% Chardonnay. Medium copper colour with pale tawny notes; Grand Marnier on the vinous nose, fresh and deep, youthful, hint of nuts, spices and yeasty complexity; rich and vibrant palate, silky and fresh, steely backbone, spiced strawberries, rich and elegant, slightly estery fruit; layered finish, lime zest, good length. Has developed well since release in 2012 and is now fully mature.

Pale pink with a fine bead. Raspberry, strawberry, and limestone with light acidity make this a great food wine. I've had with appetizers like cheese and crackers, with full Omakase sushi, and with porchetta while others enjoyed dishes as varied as scallops, Jidori chicken, clams, and sea bass and everyone thought it was great with their food too. Wish I had more bottles and hadn't shared so much! Makes me want to be more selfish...

Back in the Willamette; 2/15/2015-2/20/2015 (Willamette Valley): Drank w/friends in Portland. For me champagne seems to come in maybe 2 tiers - there is the stuff that's really wonderful with the tiny little bubbles that remind one of cashmere and a great depth of flavor that evolves on the palette. Then there is everything else. This fell into the later category. Bubbles were fine, but didn't live up to the price point.

Colour rusty pink. Good bead, small bubbles. Persistent mousse. Tasted from a Montrachet glass, to maximise the aromatics. This Champagne has certainly evolved in the last year in a way I very much like. The bouquet is now much more mandarin, blood orange and citric, with red apple and a hint of rusty dry Autumn leaves than primary red berries, but there are still some strawberries and raspberries, and also some nutty autolysis notes. An intriguing bouquet. On palate, a sweet strawberry flavoured entry. The citric and mineral flavours come through on the mid palate, with notes of grapefruit, blood orange, caramel toffee and clotted cream. There is also a hint of that savoury Autumnal element. Long, finishes on an attractive, slightly bitter note. Lovely now. I look forward to seeing how this Champagne develops over the next 10 years.

No formal notes. Underwhelmed at first pour despite the refined mousse compared to its predecessor, a nice but comparatively pedestrian sparkling Gringet. Improved in the glass as it warmed up a touch, adding almond and brioche notes to the otherwise taut red currant, strawberry, and watermelon base. Last sip out of the bottle around 65 degrees was the most expressive and complete of all.

Showing really well, even early. Nice notes of toast and light citrus fruit. Surprisingly meaty and almost demands carpaccio or something equally rare and red.

My third time trying this vintage. Closer to 89 than 91 and the leaast attractive champagne in the PR vintage lineup. The acid is a bit disturbing and I would have preferred a more distinctive taste of raspberries. To me, this champagne, at least at this stage, lacks a greater finesse. If sticking to this pricerange, I would instead recommend the billecart salmon nv rosé.

Colour deep pink with golden, bronze tints. Good persistent mousse with fine bubbles. Sweet, ripe, fresh berries on the nose: strawberries, raspberries and cranberries. Also citric aromas, ruby red grapefruit and blood orange. Some nutty autolysis on bouquet reminiscent of almond croissant. Also some pan fried salmon. On palate, a sweet entry with nice fresh acids adding good intensity. Silky smooth, persistent and well balanced. Full bodied with flavours of strawberry, raspberry, blood orange and clotted cream intertwined throughout with attractive minerality. Reasonably complex for a young wine. Quite compact, coiled, to develop greater complexity with cellar time. Long, finishes on an attractive, slightly bitter note. Accompanies well a range of food, I have had it with Bluff oysters, a lamb dish, berry fruit and Christmas cake. Drunk two bottles with consistent notes. 93.

The wine was dark salmon in colour, with a very intense and ultra fine perlage. It offered raspberry, strawberry, lemon, blood orange and brioche on the nose. On the palate the wine showed raspberry, strawberry, lemon and blood orange, paired with medium-plus acidity and incredible length. The intriguing, slightly bitter blood orange taste lingered on the palate for minutes. A very fresh, medium- to light-bodied, very elegant champagne.

Dark salmon pink color. We liked this but ultimately its sweetness detracted from the overall presentation. Whether it is high in dosage or just very fruity it marred a nice chalky note on the finish. A good Rose but probably not worth over $100 pb. Tasted at Big Reds and Bubbles VIP Tasting, Austin TX.

Another bottle which was opened with our lunch at La Grillade Gourmande in Epernay. 60% Pinot Noir and 40% Chardonnay with 15% red wine from Bouzy and Ambonnay added. A pinkish salmon color. Institute of Masters of Wine 9th Annual Champagne Tasting (San Francisco): nose: strawberry and sweet cream palate: tannin is slick, almost unctuous, yet in the end the wine is more delicious than cloying. The big names in champagne do keep a high standard, but if one takes the time (and money) to explore some less know brands one can also conclude that there are champagnes out there that are just as good, if not better, for 20-30 euro less. This is true also for the PR brut rosé 2004. A very good wine, but why not seek out a less known rosé?

Lovely pink salmon colour; slightly closed on the nose, hints of red fruit, floral notes, touch of warm nuttiness; on the palate fresh, energetic, elegant, beautifully balanced, silky even, with subtle flavours of citrus fruit, strawberries and macerated raspberries; very good length. Starts off with notes of red currant
then plum and compote of dried apples
Finish decently sour, somewhat prickly red currant and blackberries
but quickly followed by some rather bitter notes.
The bitter notes where particularly unexpected and slightly confusing.
Overall a bit mixed emotions, somehow not bad but also less than I would have expected.
Maybe this is over its peak already.

Dark salmon / light red peach color; somewhat muted nose; nice mousse, good bite, strawberry flavors; nice taste

A stylish rose. At the Grand Hotel in Stockholm.

Very nice mousse and with a touch of strawberries, but just slightly better than the PR NV. I would have wished for slightly more strawberries.

The wine looks Salmon colored. It smells like Peach, and Plum. It tastes like Blackberry, and Black currant (cassis). The wine has Silky texture.
