This bottle was in very good condition. Deep gold colour, more fragrant than I remember from previous recent bottles but in a similar place with developed citrus marmalade, creme brulee character. Great stuff.

Looking noticeably more developed than I remember from last year, more caramel and burnt toffee and less citrus notes.
Still enjoyable but perhaps fading rather than staying on the plateau for a long time. Might open another bottle soonish to see if it's a consistent development or a one-off.

There's been some bottle variation with these but the good ones are so fucking good, especially if you consider QPR.
Tangy marmalade with apricot, baking spice, and enough burnt toffee to offset the sweetness but not so much that the bitterness is unpleasant. Great stuff.

Deep gold/light toffee colour. Apricot and rich orange marmalade flavours lead the way with some toffee and tawny characters starting to develop.
Quite mature for a Botrytis Sem but there's still good acidity so I think it's in a good spot now, but some people might think it's past its best if they a prefer younger more tropical style.

NobleRottersSydney - New South Wales (Fix, St James, Sydney): {375ml, screwcap, 10.5%} [DavidM] Deep gold. Fully developed nose of candied apricot, heavy botrytis aroma, smoke, earth. Copper and brass. Decadently rich but not over-the-top. Medium/dry palate, with apricot, caramel, butterscotch. Still some acidity; with a longish finish. Nicely evolved; not so complex as Sauternes, but pretty good for the money. Ready to drink now.

Multiple layers of peach botrytis spice and honey finishing. Goes on and on and on. Invites you to another sip and another glass til the end of it, where you weep it has all been gone.

Rich deep almost golden , floral nose like honeysuckle and flowers from fruit trees. A few swirls and this wraps the glass. Pick up hints of citrus and rose. Nice balance was afraid it was going to be a sugar bomb but there was just enough acid to really make this interesting, rolls on the tongue and gives all kings of wonderful fruit and tartness. Had with a wonderful apple tart and pine nut cookies. This was a gift but if I see it I will grab some.

Thanks to Jason for this bottle. And consistent with my previous note. This does taste like an Aussie rendition of Sauternes. The fruit/flavor is a bit amped up, and there is plenty of spicy botrytis and acid to match the sweet fruit. I really enjoyed this wine.

Excellent QPR (but I got it as a closeout!). I thought this wine was a little disjointed. Other's at the tasting thought it was well balanced and had good acidity. For me, it was a little over the top on sweetness and did not show enough acidity to balance out the sugar, but I am hopeful that will change with age. I think the acid may be there, but the sugar was overwhelming it.
The wine was young, and color was between straw and gold (maybe like a light honey color, more toward yellow than orange). The texture was excellent, as the wine had nice legs that coated the glass and flowed slowly down. On the nose were the scents of honeysuckle, dried peached, orange rind and verbena. The palate was dominated by honey, burnt sugar and sweet cream, with hints of orange, tangerine and apricot. Some acid was present on the finish, but it was well hidden in the background.
This was a pleasant wine now, but I will wait on opening my remaining bottles. I could have scored this wine a point or two higher, but it paled next to the 2003 Sine Qua Non Nobleman served with it.

Blind Pinot's (The Kenwood): Incredibly sweet and very high acid make for a lively end to the evening. I did get some spicy botrytis although this did not drink like a Sauternes at all.

Appearance: Bright and clear, it has deep amber color, with watery rims and legs. Nose: Clean, with pronounced intensity of citrus fruit of mandarin orange and orange marmalade, stone fruit of apricot, tropical fruit of pineapple, dried fruit of raisin and cooked peach, oxidation notes of caramel, maturity notes of honey. The wine is developing. Palate: Sweet with high acidity, the wine has low alcohol and full body, demonstrating pronounced intensity of flavors including citrus fruit of orange peel and marmalade, stone fruit of apricot, dried fruit of raisin, maturity notes of honey, kernel notes of roasted almond. The wine has a long finish. Conclusion: Very good quality Australian botrytis Semillon, with a very intense nose of good complexity, the wine has high acidity to balance the sweetness, making it refreshing and showing a finesse. On the palate it is equally concentrated with also a long finish. It is ready to drink now though can further develop for another 10-15 years.

Late Night Friday at UE Square (The Straits Wine Company @ UE Square): Appearance is clear, medium intensity, gold colour. Long legs. Nose is clean, pronounced intensity, with aromas of toasted oak, orangey marmalade, sweet ripe apricots, and honey. Developing. On the palate, luscious sweetness, high citrusy acidity to balance, medium alcohol, full body. Pronounced flavor intensity, with flavours of orangey marmalade, sweet ripe apricots, honeysuckle and honey. Complex botrytis character. Long finish. Goes down well, not cloying. Outstanding quality. Young now, this will go on for another 10 years and develop more complexity. Australia's most famous sweet wine. Comparable to Sauternes.

Nectar in a bottle. Better than '10 vintage. Gold color that coats the glass like expensive paint but not syrupy. Complex nuances of butter, rum, marmalade and honey that blended together make a very palatable dessert wine. Missing that last bit of floral balance that would put it over the top. I served this for new years party toast. I buy this every year. Needs to age but can't seem to keep out of it long enough.

Brilliant clarity, deep amber with brown reflections and a heavy viscosity. An attractive nose with honey, butter, and dill (!) as well as identifiable fruit aroma (dried apricots, canned peaches). Wonderful complex nose. Very sweet but not cloying, and a refreshing acidity is present. Full-bodied wine, creamy in the mouth with an extended persistence. A very well-balanced wine. A rich, elegant and harmonious bottle.

"2014" Sydney International Wine Show - stewarding notes; 10/13/2013-10/18/2013 (Blue Mountains, NSW): {375ml, screwcap, 10.5%} Alarmingly dark gold for such a young wine. Plenty of oak has given a strongly vanilla character to the usual marmalade aromas and flavours. The palate is very sweet, candied and obvious; it has smoky, honeyed flavours, is very full-bodied, but has a feeling of being completely developed and ready to drink. It’s all a bit obvious and crude, and I certainly wouldn’t be cellaring it.

Probably not as great as the 2008 vintage. Typically floral bouquet. Complex sweet but the fruit is not as clear or distinctive as the '08. Less citrus with the candied apricot dominating. Still a great drop and a superior dessert wine.

2013 Sydney Royal Wine Show - Exhibitor's Tasting & Trophy Wines Lunch (homebush & Darling Harbour): [Silver medal] {375ml, screwcap} Developing nose, big, botrytis-laden apricot and marmalade aromas of great intensity. The palate is lavishly, almost painfully sweet (actually it is painful after tasting 50 wines in the preceding 3 hours). Despite the intense sweetness, there’s an oddly light aspect to the texture; almost to the point where I’d call it hollow. It has a clean finish, but there’s little in the way of acidity evident; I don’t know, it seems fundamentally out of blanace somehow. Fun, but not destined for greatness.
