Deep orange-yellow colour. Sweet, sticky nose of honey and yeast, with faint hints of petrol and botrytis. Palate shows rich, sweet flavours of honey, pandan, and pear, with slightly funky notes of coconut, raisin, and truffle. The sweetness is intense, but balanced by moderate tannin and strong, persistent acidity. I usually find Trimbach wines a little austere, but this one's decadent.

Gentle, perfumed flavours of lemon, thyme, and lemon myrtle. Sweet, but not sticky. Has a clean, clear mineral flavour that goes nicely with dessert.

Visits to Two Alsatian Classics-Trimbach and Hugel; 4/19/2013-4/21/2013 (Ribeauvillé and Riquewihr): Rich, long and balanced VT style. Not as sweet as the 2002. Outstanding.

An Extraordinary Range at Maison Trimbach (Ribeauvillé, France): Medium yellow. Honeyed aromas. Great clarity and purity of fruit. Medium weight, harmonious feel with a miraculous sense of lightness despite its concentration. A knockout.
