A pleasing sweet cherry kirsch nose. The terroir of the Southern Rhone is evident in the body and finish of this wine, almost like a white Cotes du Rhone. While the nose is a little sweet, the finish is more mineral. The 14.5% alcohol is well hidden if you keep this wine cool, or until you stand up...

I really like Rose in general. Nice cranberry color, with bright cherry and cranberry flavors up front. Nice acidity (but then I like acid in a rose), perfect with the cheese and salad I had it with. A great bargain for a Tavel, in my opinion.

What a great Rose' great taste not too sweet or fruity, great floral The wine looks Rosy colored. The legs are Slow. It smells like Strawberry, Peach, Cinnamon, and Orange Blossom.

All watermelon all the time with edges filled in with cigar smoke and herbs. Straight forward, clean and simple. Nothing wrong here and nothing over the top... and nothing complex; nothing speaks of place, which is what this wine geek wants when drinking Tavel. Sometimes clean, simple and straight forward is all it needs to be for simple pleasure. 14.5% alc. With cheeses and thin crust pizza with chicken, basil and artichoke from Papa Murphy provided by BBH. 09.21.12. I like this wine, but its simplicity makes it more appropriate for “Recommended with reservations.” The wine’s inability to speak of place puts it at a deficit for this wine geek.

I really tried, but no. In fact, I think my previous score was a bit drunken and generous. This is not much of a wine, and proof to me that Robert Parker is (at least sometimes) totally on crack.

Opened on Sunday and realized that I had just a little left in the bottom of the bottle on Thursday night. Tasted, fearing that it had turned to vinegar. I was wrong. Still very fresh, extremely pleasant, nice and acidic, and frankly almost as good as when the bottle was opened--frankly, the more I think about it, it may be even better. Lots of strawberry, sweet cherry, and dusty minty fruit notes. Frankly has settled down a bit over 4 days, and is really singing now. Nice and mellow, but still vibrant and lovely. great wine, and super-impressed for the price-point. Understand what A. J. Liebling was talking about when he said that a good Tavel could hold its own versus much more prestigious wines. Would have said 88-89 on Sunday, but a bit higher now.

This is almost the color of Hawaiian Punch, and is unfortunately a bit too reminiscent of that beverage when consumed as well. Strawberry and watermelon indeed. Not without interest, but, to me, it couldn't stand up to the Baudry and Fontsainte roses consumed alongside.

Memorial Day weekend wines at Mike's: Nose of strawberries, some watermelon. Not as bold as in past vintages. Still, it is refreshing and a fine start to summer. The palate is light bodied with some strawberry fruit.

Decent acidity though slight sweetness creeps in at end. Got worse as it warmed to room temperature so chilled back down. Certainly good food wine.
