garnet hue; nose of clove, cinnamon and cigar box; light tannins with strong black fruits and cassis. Slightly sweet long aftertaste. Days later, after stoppered at room temp, it had improved! Velvety cassis mousse with the cinnamon tart, wonderful! 89 -> 90.

Great nose of dark ripe fruit. Palate has fruit and lots of pepper and spice. Very strong acid backbone carries the wine, but balances the fairly large tannic profile. 1 hour decant and it probably needed more. Still at least 5 years, probably 2x that. A little tight still.
Tasty and quality. Good with stir fry.

Delicious wine, very smooth and full of flavor - ripe berries, in particular. And, a fantastic value - wish I would have bought cases, instead of bottles.

Decanted 6 hours and served with medium-rare rib roast. Truly a perfect pairing, the wine backed up the roast beautifully. Didn't get in the way, but was deliciously smooth with enough acidity to refresh.

Another home run vintage from my favorite petite syrah that I can actually afford.
Midnight purple color. Decanted x 3 hours. Tannic and big. Complex. Leather, black fruit, spice, cloves, cinnamon on nose but lets be honest, I'm making this stuff up - theres a lot going on and if you like big petite syrah with a punch this is it. Acidity is just right.
Crushed the whole bottle with dinner.

Consumed over 3 days. Fantastic value. First day was more approachable than I remember my first bottle a year ago. Only decanted about 30 mins. Just a year has really brought it around. 3rd day was still fantastic with more fruit than on the 1st day.

It was a very pleasant ending to what could have been a disaster. I'd bought several old bottles at a local benefit, and next time, I'll look at them very carefully. This lovely Petite Sirah was my choice to soothe my sorrow, and it succeeded mightily. It's drinking well right now. Beautiful color, aroma of summer and berries and smoke, and excellent taste.

Blueberries, gingerbread, cinnamon, and cloves on the nose. Really centers around baking and spice notes. Weighty mouth feel, dark fruit and tannins around the 1.5 hour decant mark. 2 hour mark: restrained dark fruit, spice, big tannins still a touch bitter, great balance and mouthfeel, medium finish. Overall enjoyable. I would think it's going to go really well with the filet mignon I'm cooking. Hopefully it won't overpower it. I'll wait another 6 mo at least to let the bitterness develop in the tannins. Would suggest a long decant any time in the next 3 years.

Cherry/Black red color with medium clarity. Light cherry berry aroma. Flavors of bramble berry and a peppery finish. Fairly smooth, a little spicy and some tannic bite.

Dark purple color, not much of a nose, maybe some fruit. Taste of blueberry and tart cherry. This after an hour decant, think its needs some more cellar time.

Rested 20 minutes in bottle on open. Had to dive into the wine right away since we were at an outdoor theater show. Allowed to open for another 40 minutes in glass before tasting: Flavor notes typical of california PS... Blackberry and black pepper. Deep color, inky. Not much aroma. I have had other Rasmussen PS from previous years and this follows his style and tastes is as expected. A great wine. Purchased through woot... so cost at $20 per bottle. Would pay 40 and still feel that this wine is worth it.

We opened up 4 bottles of wine tonight and only gave this PS 30 minutes to open up which is not enough time. This PS needs time - maybe 2+ hours. Initial notes of leather and tobacco but it morphs into a very different wine after exposed to air. More fruit and less leathery tobacco.

Cork was stained all the way to the top. I found it to be undrinkable when first opened. Sealed with stopper and let sit on counter for a little more than two weeks. Was about to throw it out but decided to try it again and surprisingly it is drinking much, much better now. I'll be finishing off the bottle...woot!
I probably let it sit out a little long but oh well, its pretty good now. I hope for a good experience with my two remaining bottles.

On opening, delicious - big tannin, blue fruit, black fruit, and pepper. Aroma is somewhat muted, but is going to open up with some time. This needs hours and hours at this point, not surprisingly. Excellent wine.

Foil cut and cork is stained all the way up and onto the foil. Bad sign. Wine was color correct. Black core with purple/red edges but had a very muted nose. Tasted it and found the tannins were kicking hard but still not much else to describe. Poured the rest into the decanter.
Fast forward three hours and some friends have consumed all but a glass of it. I poured that into my glass and hid it away. They have left, the house has been picked up and dishes are done. Lets see what's happened to this wine........ Very little. I'm noticing some ripe blue berry and blackberry flavors that are pleasant but the palate doesn't live up to it. Very smooth up front with a very full bodied mouth coating mildly fruity start but that quickly gets overtaken by some solid mouth drying tannins and then that fades away into something very astringent that's not particularly enjoyable. Not a good finish and I didn't notice it with the 1/2 glass I had with dinner but its very noticeable w/o food.
One of my fellow drinkers noted that it tasted like a wine he had drank 1/2 of then corked, put into the fridge and then reopened a week or 2 later.
The wine most likely got lighlty cooked in transit but wasn't a total loss. It seems like a solidly put together wine considering that the good was trying to come through but couldn't quite outshine the heat damage.

Decanted for about an hour before dinner. Very dark color, barely translucent. Quite fruity, nice medium finish. Good with grilled strip steaks and grilled asparagus. Better second night.

Aromas of dark fruit and oak on the palate, it was medium in body, only slightly tannic yet a little tight at first with a nice long finish.
Overall, very happy with this, We all enjoyed it very much. bought 3, drank 1 right away, will probably have another around Christmas and then put the third one away for 1 year.
