Fullish yellow colour and with yellow, though somewhat anonymous, fruit on the nose initially. A mild and creamy cardamon-like note develops, adding wax and hazelnut over time. Quite complex for a mere qualitätswein. The palate brings a smile. More generous and ripe in the mouth than the vintage would have me believe was achievable for a basic estate wine. No sign of the vintage acidity here. Sweet and succulent peach front - initially suggesting a lack of vitality - yet there's a delayed complexity with nutty and creamy flavours as a three hour sitting reveals. Though the years have seemingly tended to bring out the wine's simpler side, there are still complex scents and flavours here if one is prepared to sit with it for a while. Seems to be at peak. Very good plus.

A very youthful yellowish with a green tinge. The nose shows zesty white and yellowish fruit, but it is quite modest, even on the 2nd day. The palate is simple enough, but with it's spritzig, it's so fresh that one would think the wine was from a recent vintage. Has very good concentration and vitality, with the Schaefer signature of energy, fleet-footedness and crunch. Spritzig still evident on the 2nd day. Very good.

#01-05, 9% abv. Moderately advanced colour, but by no means dead. The nose is subdued, with some high-toned tart pineapple notes and a whiff of gasoline, but that's about the sum of it. The palate is incredible though. A surprisingly thick texture, with some white floral notes, as well as tart pineapple and green herbs. Although this is on the dry side of things, the honeyed palate, as well as copious fruit keeps it from becoming obnoxiously so. It's amazing that such a "lowly" wine still has so much life, over a decade on.

Ten years after the vintage, this is still the colour of straw. The nose falls into the tropical spectrum with mango, papaya and passionfruit. An hour later, a curious, but fleeting impression of dried salted fish. Golden fruit after a couple of hours. Lightish body, forward yellow ripe fruit. No 2004 acidity issues here. Very good plus.

Still very youthful and fresh; bright lemon and pear fruit over stony and faint creamy notes with a powerful acid spine beneath that cuts through the sweetness as this finishes almost dry. Thanks David.

Pale greenish gold color in the glass. Lots of fresh apple and peach in the nose. Great fruit flavor on top of some minerality. Great acid to balance things out. Still fresh and young and delicious. Drank with a lightly spiced pork tenderloin with an apple cider and pomegranate sauce for an almost perfect match.

Well none of the other notes below make any sense whatsoever. Perhaps people do not know what to expect from Mosel QbA. Lemon cream and slate with ample, bracing acidity. Classic Mosel Riesling. No it's not profound, but then it's not TBA.

Let myself be persuaded to try an additional bottle, but my original perception was refinforced. Nothing wrong with this, perfectly drinkable, but lacking the edge to give it serious structure.

Pretty combo of red and green apples with some lemon-lime citrus and notes of petrol on nose. Light spritz on palate. Simple with petrol and some grapefruit and pear. Weightier than expected with some midpalate sweetness. Finish short with little acidity. Overall pretty simple. After being open for an hour the nice fruit characterisitics have faded, especially on the nose. Disappointing for the price and maker. 4/29 - With two days in fridge the petrol is a bit stronger on the nose with light lemon-lime. Palate is a bit nicer today. Lemon-limey with some sweet and notes of petrol with more acidity that previously. Still wouldn't buy again but a better drink today. Spritz feel on tongue still present.

Green tinged straw colour. Upon pouring, baby powder nose. Then turns mineral, followed by lemon drops on a white fruit base. The slate shows up only after half an hour. Light body. The first mouthful is so tingling. Yes, it is spritzy, but there is a lovely nervous spine-tingling aspect to it. Almost sherbert-like. Terrific acid structure here, with pure, delicate white fruit. Definite and precise. Slatey flavours develop well after half a bottle is gone. Delicious and fine. I'm glad I've got more!

Not going to buy any more of this. Missing the acidity and depth to make it interesting. Perfectly quaffable but there are plenty of other wines to try in this price range.

What a nice qba--if this is any hint of how Schaefer did with this vintage, I'll be happy when I open the spatleses down the road. Very pale gold; green apple and slightly peach aromas, lots of body and texture for a qba. Very lush fruit with an underlying mineral and acid framework. Almost a red fruit hint on the finish. Good bottle, excellent value.

Terrific stuff. I think this is #2, but I'm not sure I am reading the AP # and bottle properly. It seems to have a lot of stone going on. Possibly some evergreen, menthol, and Macintosh on the nose. Crisp, light on the palate. The structure is quite compelling and I think this will reward a few years if you can muster up the patience.

mature wine with a changing flavor profile. Now apricots and pear flavors. Still for $15 a remarkable wine.

The acidity in this bottle came across as a bit shriller than in the past, but this is still an excellent wine for what it is.
