Very nice, punches way above its weight for a humble base cuvée. A healthy dollop (some might say ladleful) of brett, but pure cherry and plum fruit, earth and tobacco. Quite generous with the fruit, a bit attenuated in the mid-palate, but with a handsome finish.

Can't tell if this is corked, very herbal, or brett. Setting aside brett/cork taint, green pepper (very prominent) strawberry, cherry, tobacco. Medium body, fresh fruit on palate given high acidity - tart cherry, cherry, wet stone. Low tannins, long finish. If Brett, should be tasty tomorrow - if corked, will smell/taste worse. NR (for now).

Quite good and early in its evolution. A little lacking in fruit this time around - not sure whether that’s due to age or just how this bottling comes across.
For me the Baudry top tier is definitely Grez and Boisee, followed by Guillot.

PNP. Was on CT "drink now" list so opened a bottle.
Dark red color with clear meniscus. On nose, earth, green pepper (+) / herbaceous, black cherry and tobacco. On palate, flavor profile was of granite, soil, black cherry and strawberry. Medium body, medium+ acidity and integrated tannins. Still young. Incredible complexity for the price. Preferred to a '10 Galardi Terra di Lavoro drank besides this (the Italian was better with steak I must admit). High recommend this producer's wines. 92+

P&p. Drinking well, with some aged character coming through - cedar and slight damp-earth funk, along with dark cherryish fruit, rose, anise, and leaves/tobacco, with a bit of Brett signature, all melding together without a ton of definition or intensity but the overall effect is good. I probably preferred this in its exuberant youth, but it's still quite enjoyable in this relatively elegant tertiary phase.
Day 2 (stored refrigerated overnight in a half-bottle): Sailing along with no major change, but if anything a touch fresher and more expressive than day 1. Tasty, moreish, drinking well.

Very pretty, with lots of nice blackberry fruit, some mild earthiness, and a faint licorice note on the finish, which is buoyed by nice acidity. Nothing green or “vegetal.” Nothing tertiary either. I do wonder if the fruit is starting to fade just a little bit? Though I don’t think there’s a big rush to drink these, I’m not sure if there’s much upside to holding longer.

Last bottle of a 3 bottle purchase, definitely in the drinkable category but oddly vegetal and midpalate was sort of thin and unsatisfying. Toward the end of the bottle things got more interesting and pleasing but overall an uninspiring bottle of wine.

Pop and pour. A lovely understated nose. Leafy, with cassis and stone fruit, bell pepper, wet tobacco, and soil. Soft and supple, but complicated with a great mix of savory, soil, and fruit. Searching for an analogy, drinking this is akin to putting on comfortable pair of slippers. There is an ease to drinking this that belies its subtle complexity. Nothing stands out here, it has just all melded into a whole greater than its sum of parts. This is not a statement wine, yet makes a very persuasive argument of how much joy one can get from drinking a glass of "humble" wine. Effortless to drink. Balanced. Mature, yet retaining freshness. Everything is coming together beautifully now in this very enjoyable, simply delicious wine. Still at peak for my taste, but I cannot think of a reason to hold this. 89 pts

Still a lot of fun, but wondering if these are past peak. I have seven more and will investigate.
Still has that cool 2010 acidity and dark Baudry color. The fruit is a little less prominent, which leaves it a little flat. Beautiful nose full of cedar.

This is in the zone now. Red cherry, unlit tobacco, warm herbs and leather make for a very attractive aromatic package. The tobacco element dominates on the palate, with the fruit hanging in at the end. The structure is mostly acid-based, with just a hint of mid-palate tannin. It's definitely Loire Cabernet Franc, based on the aromatic and palate profiles.

Another brilliant showing. Took an hour to come out of its shell. Rich nose of cedar, tobbaco and black fruit. This is still a dark, brooding and structured wine.
On the palate there's a lot more acid and lift than you might expect - it's a very sleek wine, not at all heavy. On the palate it's quite structured by still mouthwatering and gulpable.

This was a smashing bottle of wine. I decanted it for a couple of hours and then rebottled it, to rid it of the Brettanomyces aroma. After an hour in the fridge we poured glasses. The wine exhibited abundant tangy black fruit, generous acidity, and fine lingering tannins, along with notes of bell pepper, tobacco, and floral perfume. This one is right in my wheelhouse. The mouthfeel was full and the finish was long.
I bought about 20 bottles of this wine several years ago, and have been opening a bottle every now and then. I should have bought 200 bottles. I get the sense that this wine will age gracefully for many years; it still tastes young, yet quite well-balanced. Great QPR on this one.
This is drinking very well now, with plenty of black fruit accented by warm tobacco elements and herbal flavors. It's fresh and lively on the palate, with plenty of acidity. It makes me wish I had something on the grill.

A lovely mix of fruit and bell pepper and fresh tobacco on the nose. Stony fruits with a plump freshness and enough acidity to brighten it up. not one of my favorite Baudry wines. Reasonable typicity, but no strong center. Seems flabby and diluted. I felt that way 2 years ago, and I don't think this will improve. The wide variation in tasting notes below might suggest a variation in bottling, but I'm putting a final bottle away as an experiment.

Somewhat more open than a bottle I had about a year ago, this shows plenty of red fruit, as well as a nice tobacco element and some juicy finishing acidity. Plenty of time in hand for this wine. I will wait several more years before trying another bottle.

Purplish ruby in color, like a black cherry. A fair bit of earthy, farmy funk is the first thing that jumps out on the nose, followed by cedar, leather, cherry and raspberry fruit, and a floral character that’s halfway between red and purple tinged. On the palate, it’s fresh, juicy, and fruit-forward, bursting with delicious cherry and berry flavors. It’s quite athletic and only medium-bodied, though, and it has a nice grippy tannin structure and bright acid. The funky side is dialed back but does come through a bit on the finish, which is otherwise characterized by brambly fruit. Very nice balance and good length.
This is good stuff. I’m not sure it’s quite so good as to justify the hype that has been piled onto this estate in recent years, but it’s a very nice Chinon and good value as well. I enjoyed it.

Decanted and began drinking immediately. Quite open from the start, and drinking wonderfully. Aromas and flavors of pungent, sappy dark red fruit, black pepper, anise, wet clay/earth, and a well integrated medium strength dose of green plants/herbs/tobacco. Fresh juicy acidity. Rose petals and slight bitterness develop in the finish, joining persistent mineral earth. Medium bodied. Richer and deeper than it was a couple years ago, but still seems surprisingly young and sappy. Tannins are somewhat grippy and not fully integrated, but getting there. Delicious!
After 4 hours in the decanter, the fruit has smoothed out into fresh raspberry, more floral notes and a hint of barnyard have developed, and everything is cohesive and just very pretty.

Although I drink more expensive/complex wines, I'd be hard pressed to think of a wine other than this that I'd rather drink every damn day. Has put on a bit of weigh over the last little bit, and is in a great place right now. Full of red fruits, tobacco, leather and bright acid, this just kills it with food (really, just about any food will do). I wish I had cases of this.
This has mellowed significantly since my first bottle in 4/2013. Lovely red fruit with a touch of sweetness, but still all of that earthy, dirt, tobacco, and green that such a classic cab franc should have. Dollar for dollar nothing beats Baudry.

This has all come together since my last visit a year ago, and now shows beautiful integration and purity. Very dark in the glass. Nose of red fruit and minerals with an initial touch of bretty funk that blew off quickly. Deep, pure classic cab franc notes of spice, red fruit, chalk, cocoa, forest floor and a perfect amount of acid bite. Delicious. I'm going to buy a few more of these before they're all gone. Tremendous QPR from Chambers St Wines at around $18.

London Blind Challenge (Vinotecca, London.): Blind. A bright, vivid purple-red. Evocative nose that screams Beaujolais to me — primary fruit, a touch of bubblegum, and an underlying sense of minerality that makes me think of hard rock, so maybe a Morgon. Vibrant. Pleasantly surprised when revealed as a Chinon— didn't have the slightly green, herbal, pine element that CF often gives. ***1/2

Outrageously good for just $18. Dark ruby color with deeply inset aromas and flavors of pipe tobacco, blackberries, and earth. Juicy, and full beyond what might be implied by its modest 13,0% abv. Better with each glass - juicier, with more brilliant nuances coming to the fore and giving little indication the party was going to end (though the bottle was empty in just one hour). Agree with others, this is in top form now, less so with time. recommended, drink thru 2017
I thought at first opening that this one was corked, but with air, it has turned into a very pleasant Cab Franc, with balanced dark fruit and a nice forest floor character, and a bit of cocoa. Tannins are at just the right level, and the finish is lingering, with hints of bitter orange peel and floral perfume. Delicious. In a good drinking window now. I think I'll start drinking these up.

Mouth-watering nose of sweet cherry, blueberry, coffee, mushroom and barnyard. Palate more tart than anticipated: still has plenty of juicy cherry, alongside blackberry, plum, cranberry, dark bitter chocolate, tobacco and the faintest hint of prunes. The fruit hits the tongue at the front and back, lingering for a long time, while the savoury and biter notes dance around on the middle of the tongue, combining for an intriguing finish.

The domaine bottling in this structure has a spine of steel. This is classic chinon from a sandy, gravelly site. You can taste the chalk on the finish of this wine. This is good but this wine is about the future not the present. Wait for the fireworks. Hold 5 years at a minimum in a cool cellar!!

A marked improvement from my previous bottle. The overpowering bell pepper aromas and tart flavors have dropped away, letting the floral and clay-like scents and bright brambly fruited flavors come to the fore. Juicy and gulpable but complex enough to hold your interest. Great QPR.

Not challenged in the nose holes, with dark unsweetened chocolate as the day is long. Smells continue with clear overtones of fresh tobacco, pinned to a fresh celery matrix and gravelly base. Black and blue berries poke their heads tentatively around the corner, but play an amusing game of hide and seek in the otherwise dark brooding aroma.
In the maw, bright but reserved blues and blacks wrestle with green pepper on the attack. Unfortunately, as a solo sip, really doesn't seem to develop much on the mid-palate except to slightly accentuate the green pepper - wish there was a bit more complexity here.. but with a nice mouth coating and with an almost overly tannic mouth feel. Finish remains pleasantly of very subtle and lingering black and blue berries, with a hint of freshly cut hay. Well balanced, but might be nice if there was just slightly higher than 13% alcohol (it's cab franc, I know...).
With pasta this wine pairs nicely. Crisp.

lots of earth on this nose - subterranean earthern cavern with moist herbaceous vegetation in it, quite herbac actually, yet a rather appetising nose that invites a refreshing sip; surprisingly round and weighty after a couple glasses of the Barbera, but also more gritty,

A little nervous, as I was opening the first bottle of a case buy. The nose is exactly what I'd hope for from Baudry - fresh, juicy and plenty of earth. It reminds me of the best 2010 red burgs I've had - pure, delicious fruit but with great acidity and structure. So glad to have 11 more!

Fresh, pure cab franc aromas with berry fruits, bell pepper, and a bit of fresh flowers. Tart, lip-smacking fruit on the palate that called out for food. Almost a shade too tart, making me prefer the more succulent and easy-going Les Granges, but it's a minor quibble. This is an excellent wine.

Magenta-ruby in colour. Tight bouquet of crushed raspberries, yuzu, green tobacco/herbs, snapped sapling and damp clay. These flavours reassert on the palete, which is high toned, minerally and light-to-medium bodied. Tannins are moderate and slightly chalky. Nice complexity at this stage and drinking pretty well now - particularly for is freshness and crunch.

After 2 hours in a decanter, it's drinking quite well. Smells mainly like fresh raspberries, clay, and underbrush. Same on the palate, bracingly tart fresh red berries, clay, underbrush. Fairly firm tannins, slightly bitter. Persistent tart bittersweet raspberry in the finish. Pure and delicious.
After about 4 hours in the decanter, darker fruit, black pepper, and chocolate join in - neat transformation, not quite as fresh and pure but more complex. Really enjoyed it in both of these distinct phases.
If anything, this is even better than the previous bottle. Same characteristics as previous note, but everything seems to be just a little bit more integrated. Fantastic nose, palate presence, and delineation. A great vintage for this bottling.

Oh yes, this is quite nice. The Baudrys apparently claim this is one of the best vintages of the domaine bottling they've made.. I see no reason to disagree. Bright, mouthwatering fruit and chalky tannins balance with a really nice lifting acidity (CSW uses "minty" to describe the acidity). Lingering finish with a nice flavor impact. This personifies the Baudry style to me.. elegance without betraying its Loire Cab Franc origins. Good stuff. There's a reason these wines take up so much of my cellar.

Dark ruby colour, but clear at the edges. A very stinky aroma when you first open the bottle and pour l, but this blows off pretty quickly. Complex, with notes of red berries, earth, and herbs. A very nice acidic backbone that really carries the wine. Better than the 2009 vintage. Excellent wine!

A bigger more tannic wine than La Grangrs. 2010 will be a better year for aging than the 2009. 80% from plateau and 20% from various plots. Sold out in France, but on it's way to Kermit's who had the winery hold it until it would be better for immediate consumption.

89 pts

Crisp.
