Just a quick glance at this one. Still show plenty of sweetness in the sugary sense so it hasn't integrated completely. Seemed a but round and next to a Donhoff the lower acidity of this wine was clear. Still probably better when the sugar integrates but very tasty.

AP #15. Ordered off the wine list at UNION. Quite floral with a hint of pine on the nose. Wonderfully crisp, sweet and sour, vibrant, singing, dancing. Shows a bit sweeter as it warms. A really nice Kabinett, verging towards the riper end of the spectrum but not really pushing it to Spatlese richness.

Wow, what a difference. The last bottle I had was simple, sweet, disappointing. This bottle is wonderful. It has a lot of sweetness for a kabinett but with plenty of acidity to balance it. Pineapple, green apple, clean razor sharp acidity, lemon. A touch of spritz (the last bottle had a lot). Very long acidic finish. Very nice clean clear kabinett. If anything it's overly acidic, the opposite of the last bottle. B

Quite sweet without the expected acidity to offset it. Pretty spritzy. Not what I'd expect from this fine house. Disappointing, hopefully it'll grow out of it, but I doubt it. C/C+

Quite disappointing. Maybe this is a typical Pfalz characteristic, but this lacked the crispness and minerality of a MSR Riesling. This could have been offset by an abundance of fruit, but these flavors were somewhat shallow. Almost tasted as if water had been added to the blend to "stretch" the wine. Notes: Cork was soaked all the way through; drank over the course of three days with no improvement on day two or three.

Not sure if this was a representative bottle or not, but I've never had such a spritzy "still' wine in my life. This first glass of this I poured literally had a head like champagne. I let the glass sit for 15 minutes before I tasted it, but even then it had a steady, fine mousse. It also tasted quite acidic and austere. I put the cork back in the bottle and put it in the fridge until the next day. Much better - open and balanced on the palate. Lots of tart fruit, crushed rock, even a bit of cranberry. No more mousse. I'm curious to try another bottle of this to see if this was an abnormal bottle with some secondary fermentation, or whether they are all like this.

Dee Vine 2004s Part I (Dee Vine Wines): $22 at Dee Vine. 9.5%, AP 15-05. Grassy, well-balanced, with strawberries. Off-dry with a long finish. Very Good.

Lemon and candied lemon peel with energizing acidity that complements slightly unctuous weight. Very good with slightly spicy Korean food tonight.

Love M-C wines. Still fresh, has a dry mouthfeel with little sweetness - just what I wanted. Paired well with Thai Satay dish.

Friday at the Duck House (Duck House, Montery Park, CA): Tingley feel on the finish but not heat. Pretty fat and sweet for a Kabinett especially considering the vintage. I would leave this alone another few years.

On the sweet side, almost spatlese level, but very nice. Good balance, nice complexity. Very well enjoyed.
