Won’t rate it I think it was flawed bad storage bought it from auction. usually this is a great bottle. The downside of buying from auction is you never know how the bottles were stored.

decanted 1 hour as previously suggested. Compared to the 2010 vintage this one is still pretty powerful! hard to believe it's this old. smokey, mocha, deep and dark. Tannins are still pretty noticeable even after the decant but it's still approachable even when drank unpaired. But had this w meat lasagna and some bolognese (Hazan recipe).

This is at a very safe place right now. Earthy, focused nose of chocolate, smoke and mocha. Good mouthfeel, yet to nitpick I predict this will completely balance out around 2023 when the last of those dry tannins begin to disappear. Decant for at least one hour.

Excellent wine; though may have been better decanting. After an hour in the glass, the dark rich, complex fruit and long finish I remembered became more pronounced.

Despite the over the top winery and marketing, this remains a great Napa cab. Opened up nicely after an hour (no decant)...more smooth fruit than remaining tannins but showing nicely with plenty of life left. Drank alongside a 2010, no appreciable difference.

This wine will fool you. I, too have often felt ripped off a bit with the pricepoint vs the result. Yes, overly extracted on opening and for the first 2 hours afterward, but low and behold another hour and it adds weight and a few layers of well integrated red/black fruit. Briary, pencil shavings on the nose. There is still some significant tannins, and spice, like smoked cracked red pepper to go along with the sage and nice acidic ending. This wine could easily be taken the wrong way but time smooths it out and makes it go a few layers deeper. I kept waiting and they finally showed up. Went great with a prime ribeye.
Nice wine and very well liked by the group. For me, I always come away thinking I have had better cabs for less money. Still a solid wine that will probably be a hit at a wine party. Drank with: 2000 masi mazzano amarone, 06 einaudi cannubi barolo, 06 aldo conterno colonnello barolo, 09 sbragia Rancho del oso cab, 98 raymond generations cab.

I have one bottle of this. It was a gift. Darioush strikes me as a place that people stop by for their first visit to Napa. (I have a friend who is a HUGE fan, so we set up a tasting and walked out after seeing the DisneyWorld kitsch to the whole place.) This wine confirmed my supposition. This is the archetypical 1980s Napa Juicy Oak wine, soon to be available at Target in the box section. Seriously. It's not a bad wine. It's just programmatic and overpriced. Did someone really pay $95 for this? Ouch? Just shoot me. I mean, it makes a nice souvenir from Disneyworld, and unlike those mouse ears you can enjoy them ex post, but $95?

I picked up 3 bottles of this one at some point. The first bottle I drank.....a couple of years ago.....was a little disappointing. This bottle was terrific....I am diverging from the consensus of other reviewers and am giving it a fairly high rating. It is in a great drink window right now.

Not what i expected given the previous notes and the label...overall the flavor was subdued and a little flat; unexciting. There were hints of the fruit described by others, but not the weight in the mouth or long finish

Excellent wine, I wouldn't have been able to buy it myself but I had it with my parents over a nice steak dinner with sautéed mushrooms that paired really well. Incredibly smooth, full-bodied wine with a long, complex finish. Dark fruit- black cherry and perhaps pomegranate, but not too fruity. I enjoyed the spice with subtle hints of vanilla and tobacco. Would make a great gift.

Rather like the 2005 Darioush Signature Cab, the 2009 is a bit lean and structured. Still, this is an excellent wine with ample blackberry, graphite, and cassis. The oak is not yet fully integrated. It will be interesting to see how these evolve.

Maybe it is just my taste but this cab just does not do it for me. While I think it is decent, I know that I have had much better for less money. At about half the price the 07 groth we drank the same night was, in my opinion, a better wine. Of the 4 reds consumed, the other two a 05 aldo conterno barolo and a 04 hermatage, this was my least favorite and the only one that I thought did not justify it's price. The barolo and hermatage were outstanding!

signature darioush. could go down 5 years easy. The wine looks brick colored. The legs are medium. There is no sediment in the bottle. It smells like fig and prune. It tastes like blackberry and red currant. The body is full. The wine has satin-like texture. The wine finishes medium. The wine has low acidity.

Napa Valley Wine and Food Excursion 2013; 9/30/2013-10/5/2013 (Napa Valley, California): This opaque crimson wine is a blend of 78% Cabernet Sauvignon, 10% Merlot, 7% Malbec and 5% Cabernet Franc. It is very engaging from the start, effusive of ripe black cherry, fig, anise and lavender aromas. Fresh, full-bodied and focused on the palate, it weaves flavors of black fruit, anise, bittersweet chocolate and sage into a firmly tannic frame. The wine's alcohol (listed as 14.8%) is nicely integrated and the middle palate is sturdy. It concludes long and dusty. This is a very well-made Cabernet which will likely benefit from short-term cellaring. Thereafter, is should drink nicely for 10-15 years. Drink 2015-2030.

Heavy, concentrated cab with legs! Cedar, spices, coffee on the nose. Cedar, toffee, chocolate in the mouth. Unbelievable. Drank it over 2 hours and it just got better and better. Great finish. I bought a case after having it at a restaurant. Buy now. It will be hard to find next year!

A nice, smooth, good quality wine, but it does have a heavy tar component that overshadows the fruit and makes it hard to drink even a full glass. I also think it is overpriced.

Tasted blind. One of the towp three wines of the tasting and, of those, the only one under $100. This is a huge wine, but everything appears to be well balanced, including the fruit, oak, alcohol, tannins. Drinkeable now after decanting, but probably should be left alone for several more years.
