Turley often coaxes lighter flavors and relatively early drinkability out of their Petite Syrahs. This particular bottle, however, was pretty ripe, almost too much so, with cherry-plum, baked notes and dry, dusty tannins extending from a loamy, freshly crushed red grape nose. Just okay and I’d suggest an shortish drinking window. 2010 and 2011 were meh vintages for northern CA zin (Petite Syrah). I’m concentrating on removing these years from my cellar. A wine like this goes to show that all of us raters and the critics are all full of shit when we speculate about 13 years down the road.
Excellent wine with many more years to go. fine to medium tannin on the finish, which became more obvious over time. Deep dark fruit color and nose, with a good body on the palate. Large amount of sediment in the bottle, which easily filtered out after decanting. I wish I had more of this wine.

Deep ink purple, little signs of aging on the rim, refined dark fruit nose, silky tannins and long balanced finish. Can one ask for more? It may be at its peak right now. One bottle left that I can try next year.

Cross country zoom HH with Barb and Eric, pretty cool when you can open the same bottle from different cellars. Drinking consistently with bottle from a year ago to the week. Decanted for potential sediment (not much) and aired for about 20 minutes. Blueberry is the first aroma that jumps out with some salinity but not as strong as the past bottle. Great combination of dark fruit juicy jammyness and lively acidity. This opened up quickly and the the fruits began to fade after several hours. No need to wait on these, in a good spot now.

Patience rewarded. Nose was rich with notes of ripe plum, dark fruit and dried herbs. Color deep purple red. Flavors of ripe cherry, plum, blueberry and tobacco. Long finish, light smoky oak, well- integrated tannins. Delicious.

Decanted for about 30 minutes. Extreme aromatics filling the room with blueberry, wet stone and saline. This wine evolved over several hours. Starting off with blueberry, saline and mint with fresh acidity and medium body. After about 2 hours this took on more succulent blueberry jam with a full bodied mouthfeel. Excellent.

I‘m drawn to the Turley Petit Syrahs due to the singularity of their aromatic profile. And this comes with high intensity and great aromatic precision. Of course these are powerhouses and not the most elegant wines but it still a great pleasure to drink.
TN: Explosive, highly intense fresh and cool blackberry jam nose. On the palate you get in addition flowers, some herbal aromas, dark chocolate and some mint scents. The ripe, velvety tannins, medium+ acidity, medium alcohol, full body carry all the aromatic power quite well. The finish is a bit less spectacular than nose/palate but still good.
Decanting: To my surprise this wine is ready to go. A short 30-60 minutes decant is enough. Still, absolutely primary at this stage.

Strong blueberry flavor with chocolate notes playing second chair. Tannin grip toward the end is still a little disjointed, and more bottle time may yield further integration. Even so, an enjoyable wine.

Full flavored dark cherry with good depth; flavor became more tart with time; smooth on opening with slight alcohol burn initially that cleared in 15 minutes; did not decant; nice finish;

My son's birth-year so I wanted to check in on this beast. Black as night (duh), and as expected, was hard as nails when first opened. Literally tight as hell and giving up nothing. Let it slow-ox for a day, and it was pretty much the same on day 2. Put the cork back in and drank it 3 days later, and it finally came around (yep...that's 5 days open for those of you keeping track at home).
Dusty black fruits on the nose, with more of the same on the palate with blackberries, raspberry, and hints of smoke and maybe a little tar. While it's obviously a big wine, it completely smoothed out on day 5 and the texture of the wine was really, really nice. Great wine once it had a chance to show it's stuff.
Always buying/trying different 2010's with it being my sons birth year, and I'll be snagging a few more of these. Pretty sure it will go the distance.
Opaque inky purple/black. Zero sediment. Giant full mouthful of fresh berry taste with a sturdy backbone and a long finish. One of my favorite wines this year.

A nice little petit syrah! The wine was a dark garnet. It's legs are medium. Nice aromas blackberry and blueberry. It tastes like blackberry and blueberry, albeit at first, a little jammy. It is a medium-medium bodied wine with a smooth texture. The wine had a medium finish. Overall a balanced wine.

Full-bodied, surprisingly dry. Not as jammy and bright as some petite syrahs, which was a good thing. Quite earthy, some minerality, so well integrated, some intensity, luxurious, very precise. Better on the 2nd day. Probably the best petite syrah I've had - a thing of beauty. 93+pts.

14.6% abv. Dark ruby red. Dark fruit and spice on an expressive nose. On the palate, black raspberry, sage, leather and a nice dollop of black pepper. Great mouthfeel, balance, depth and length. Exceptional.

Dark and inky in color. I mean really inky. Decanted and agitated for 30 minutes and a little tight at first and then started to open up. Realize this was early but curiosity got the better of me. This was really good stuff but should have waited as quite tannic still with the fruit trying to peek out. I still enjoyed this but my bad for opening before it was ready. Or...just decant a few hours. That may have done the trick.

Needs a 30 min decant- full bodied, with deep dark fruits. Good balance and finish and approaching or in prime with a solid 5-7 years left on it.
