Arguably Wine of the Night among a dozen various bottles from France, Spain and California. Intense and concentrated, tannic, almost bitter. Yet there’s plenty of black fruit too and a sense of ripe Mourvèdre. Lots of character. Hugely enjoyed by Chef Robert.

Dark and dense color. Aromas of dark red fruits, herbs and vanilla. Quite soft and elegant for a Mourvedre. Well made and impressive, but made in an international style, which conceals the authenticity.

7/6/2022 Double Blind Night at Kevin's: [Tasted double blind] Pronounced intensity, smoked meats, leather, black pepper, smoke, big ripe black fruits, cassis, currant, cherry, blackberry, baking spices. Full body, med+ acid, high tannins, high alcohol. I guessed GSM Rhone, but it was Bandol! Being unfamiliar with Bandol, I thought this was a great introduction. Lots of similarities, but I was surprised to see such huge structure in the wine still despite the 12 years of age. Lots of complexity, yet I still think this is a baby. 93-95+ pts

A beauty of a wine. Deep bluish colour, opaque. Wonderful aromas of dark berries, Earth and leather With a hint of provencal herbes. Full bodied, silky tannins (which is quite rare for Mourvedre and Bandol), excellent acidity. Taste of dark berries and provencal spices With a low key animal tone. Long. A great wine form a great vintage.

Decanted and poured, this bottle was tasted along side the 2010 Tempier Migoua and Tourtine. This wine seems more firm and structured than both the Migoua and Toutine. On this occasion the wine begins forward and accessible. Airing brings out firm, black fruit and a more reserved impression. This bottle gives the impression that the wine will benefit from additional bottle age.

Tempier 2010 release party (Andrea's Restaurant): Purple. Sweet fruit, mineral, earth and spice. Big wine. Surprisingly open. Big mouthful of wine. Finish like a freight train. Still, balanced and enjoyable. This is going to take 20 years to reach drinking window. Excellent.

Utterly wonderful. But needs a serious (6 hour plus) decant -- before that, the finish is pretty unforgiving. No doubt another 30 plus year wine.

Gorgeous inky dark, cassis, tarry heady spicy nose, caressing palate, yum! A panoply of exotic deep dark spices, caves and minerals, lovely.
