Deep red color with a little browning. Aromas of black fruits, chocolate and coffee. Ripe, lush fully-integrated fruit in the mouth with excellent depth and length. Juicy and full on the palate. Though at end of its peak drinking period still a delicious mouthful of wine.

Nice enough, but unremarkable. Still needs hours of decanting, but never really comes together. Earlier notes were much more positive, so could be closed down right now.

Nice bright herbs, mint and classic herbal Cabernet aromatics. On the palate this is well structured, balanced and very easy drinking for the 14% alcohol. A very nice Cabernet overall.

Lots of Chilean character on the nose, sweet leathery aromas, clay dust, cocoa powder, mature dark orangish-red fruit. Palate is like a catcher's mitt: dry, leathery, fruit has faded, mineral finish. Improves considerably with air, so best advice would be to drink now with a 2-hour decant.

Excellent blend. Nicely balanced and inviting with black fruits some cocoa and a hint of smoked sausage. A bit flat in the finish, if not I would have scored higher.

bottle breath at bottom shoulder for 2 hours; tons of berries on the nose; not oaky at all which is much better than those vanilla-based Napa; quite flat and simple on palate with some meat and acidity to compliment the black fruits; quite high in acidity for a Cab blend; expect more and longer in finishing

As is obvious from my handle, I am a fan of Montes M wine. This is only my second experience with the 2003 vintage and what an amazing wine. Gave it a 2-hour decant. In my opinion, definitely in its oprimal drinking window. Very subdued. The nose doesn't give much away, but there is nice fruit and not the typical smoikiness from Chilean reds. On the tongue, tobacco, figs, boisenberry, coffee, chocolate. Medium to long finish. It caresses the palette and invites you to keep exploring. The oak is very much integrated with the other flavors. This is a well-rendered wine that has aged well. Kudos to Montes!

Open 2 hrs before drinking. Nice Bordeaux style with moderate fruits (berries) and oak.Tannin softened with airing and became silky. Full bodied. Lost concentration after 3-4 hrs.

No notes, consumed tonight at a Philly area byo. Plush, big, tannic, intense. Softens with food - it really has the character of a Petit Sirah. Big and likeable, well crafted. You could easily wait a couple more years before putting this down.

Montes tasting event (Wine Road Tel-Aviv): (at Wine Road's Montes Tasting event) tight aroma, a bit flat in taste, good on its own, but a bit behind when comparing to 1999 & 2006 vintages.

Beautiful bordeaux-style cabernet. Silky mouthfeel, great balance, but missing structure to warrant a higher score. Drink over the next year or so, but not much longer.

Totally perplexing. Out of the bottle, dark fruit and strong petrol on the nose. Good mouth feel and structure. But...despite many hours of air, this sucker wouldn't loosen up. Tight and unyielding! Some chocolate, meaty, leathery notes sneaking through but this wine didn't give up much. Left me wanting a lot more and wondering why I paid $50. Naively, I probably opened this bottle far too early but the previous scores have me scratching my head. I have another bottle which I'll leave down for a couple more years. Damn.

Cork pushed but no obvious seepage. My first experience with this wine, a bit disappointing. Dominated by dusty tannins, chocolate and cherries in background- ? spoiled bottle.

very rich, very suave. one couldn't say anything less than very good coments. However this lacks a certain elegance, complexity, and after taste which call yet for another sip.

Nice wine, plum, licorice and chocolaty nose. Well balanced palete, nice dark fruits, easy drinking for a saturday evening dinner with tri-tip. It should only get better with a few more years.

Black cherry fruit in a juicy balanced package. Silky. Held up well over two days. A bit simple however.

OK, but expected a lot more at 10 years and given its cost! Not much better than a good $20 wine from LanguedocRousillon. Tight, unforthcoming.
