Lovely, lovely pour. Characteristic nose, explosive granache-syrah fruits with modest tannins. I wouldn't be in a hurry to drink the remaining cellar inventory but nicely aged and absolutely ready to delight as-is.

Medium ruby. Medium intensity scents of dark cherries, plum with somewhat sweet spice and dried herbs in the background. Meaty nose with subtlety, elegance and savory character. The mid palate exhibits pretty much the same profile i.e. meaty with dark fruit, with layers of complexity, freshness and elegance. The tannins are almost fully resolved while the acidity is low to medium leading to a satisfying finish. Very old world I would say, thoroughly enjoyable. Wish I had one more to age it some more although it is probably at peak right now.

Solid full bodied Rhone. Good tannins and firm structure with a good balance of ripe red fruits and acid. Not quite as elegant as a chateauneuf but close. Drinking perfectly 8 years in.

I always like this wine. On the nose I get earth and red fruit. Palate for me is red and black fruit, pepper, spice and a little of the bitterness that I usually think of as "rubber in a good way" on the finish. Maybe some "dry earth". Very balanced. Not a stand-out CV in my opinion but very well put together - great wine with food (especially French Mediterranean flavors for me).

The wine looks purple colored. The legs are slow. There is no sediment in the bottle. It smells like blackberry and oak. It tastes like blackberry, oak, blueberry and fig. The body is full. The wine has coarse texture. The wine finishes medium. The wine has low acidity.

Pnp nose and palate were very fruit forward. After a few hours the fruit mellowed into a very nicely balanced grenache dominant blend. It is a very good wine, but not worth 40. At 27 it is appropriately priced.

I’ve heard lots of wonderful things about this wine and been looking forward to trying it. There is plenty of dark fruits, plum, black cherry, blackberry along with a bit of lavender and some barnyard to round things off. Still given the complexity in the flavor, I was surprised at the relatively short finish. Nevertheless, a very, very good wine and one I’ll spend the money on again at some point.

Dark (but not opaque) purple. Nose: dark fruit, cigar. Big, dry, velvety, nicely integrated. A touch of grape that moves to plum on the palate. At the same time, a bit puzzling, hard to define. Orson Wells in Citizen Cane.

Beguiling. New and Old world on the nose, with notes of olive and raspberry commingled with waxy oak. The oak pushes more than I'd like on the palate, but the mouthfeel is surprisingly velvety. Mybe not the best value at $35, but a solid bottle nonetheless.

San Francisco Rhone Rangers (San Francisco): ruby red, in color. dark fruit, black currant, blueberry, pepper, earth, clove, spice, cedar, toast, oak, tar, on the nose. medium acid, medium-high tannins, on this excellent finish.

Tremendous California Rhone-style red that combines earthiness and New World fruit. Highly recommended.
And that it is still drinking well at this date speaks volumes about how foolish those are who say screwcap wines don't age correctly.

Dark cherry, licorice, dusty, with medium complexity and a compact finish. Okay, but not a bottle that excited me.

Plums, raspberries....and then my tasting notes get unreadable. This is a much more Californian wine than most vintages of Cigare Volant.
