Light red, translucent color fading towards brown. Bitter fruit, cranberry notes - licorice pastilles. Opens up nicely with air, lean bodied, good acidity. A truly unique wine.

Solid. A favorite and 2010 seems to be a very good vintage. Only 4 bottles left, don't touch for 3-4 years -- think this still as at least 7-10 plus years. Still bright and crunchy with lots of acid -- balanced with lots of red fruit. It's tragic that Puffeney decided to step back and only produce a very limited amount of wine -- wish I had many more of his red wines downstairs.....

After two failed bottles this one landed with aplomb. Tart cherry, not quite ripe strawberry, hint of wild herbs, pale red color. Not for everyone surely but delicious with our roast chicken.

Still pretty. First night: a bit sharp, subtle strawberries, smooth. Second night: a bit fuller and wilder, more fruit, nicely balanced. This wine probably better about a year ago when fruit was a bit more evident but very interesting to see how gracefully they age--though admittedly not to all tastes.

Very pale red color. Dense, red fruit nose with a slight tinge of earthiness. Great acidity driving tart red raspberry fruit with a density of flavor that is surprising given the color. There is a freshness and elegance to this wine balanced with complexity, I'm a fan.

Very pretty wine. Nice tart red fruits, beautiful acidity, some wild herbs, and hints of flowers. Light, and a bit cloudy, red, shy nose that opened with air, and just plain delicious. Nor surprising, great dinner wines.

Cassoulet Night (Jimmy's Apartment - Chicago, IL): A really nice vintage of the Puffeney Poulsard "M". Light and airy red fruits with a brambly sensibility to them. Great acid on the finish of this too...makes you want to go back for another sip. Don't by fooled by it's beautiful light red color, this has lots of flavor and a real presence to it.

Popped and poured. Light bodied, dirty red. Tart cherries on the nose. On the palate, the tart cherry fruit continues with an aura of subtle smoke. Yeasty structure. Good wine.

Translucent red in the glass. Aromas of herbs, pepper, and red fruits precede a palate of more red fruits, nearly excessive acidity, and a strong tannic grip. Austere on opening yet fleshes out after a few days in the fridge. I'm now interested in cellaring a few Jura reds to see what these become with some age.

Drank over several days. Pale transparent brick red color, almost like a dark rosé. Strong black pepper aromas on the nose, joined by pink grapefruit, cranberry and herbal/garrigue flavors. Not as mineral-laden as a Puffeney Pinot Noir sampled the other night, but with the energy and savory/subdued fruit character I find in other mountain wines from the Jura/Savoie/Neuchatel. Medium body, with pronounced black pepper on the long finish on day one, which became more subdued by day two, joined by sour cherry, cranberry and oolong tea flavors. Moderate-high tannins are deceptively smooth and well integrated. A wine that is appealing now for its uniqueness and verve, but which I suspect will age quite gracefully. Day 4 update: after corking and refrigerating the remaining 1/3 bottle, I revisited this again today and it is just singing. Less austere and more rounded but still with the distinctive peppery/leafy nose, now with more floral notes of rose hips. Overall better balanced with more pronounced red fruit flavors leaning toward wild strawberry and cranberry with sandalwood/tobacco/spice notes on the finish. Really blossoming with extra air, and a perfect foil for lamb and bean stew. A lot going on here, an engaging wine to say the least (upgraded from 90 to 92 pts).

There is more cherry fruit than usual in this wine right after opening and my thoughts are wandering towards the Southern Rhone. After about an hour, licorice pastilles and cranberry juice aromas emerge on the nose and the palate starts to show more soil components and orange peel. There is good concentration and depth here yet the wine is light on its feet. As usual, a unique treat and something that will age well.

2010 is the first vintage (of the 6 i have had) where i have equal amounts of love for Puffeney's Trousseau and Poulsard....though i might give a nod to the Trousseau...on second thought, the Poulsard....it's close. Both have really beautiful and bright red fruit. I was a little surprised they were so similar in weight. I might prefer the flavor profile on the Trousseau, but love the acid of the Poulsard. Both are delicious.

A beautiful wine. Faded red color, you can stick your nose in the glass and get lost. Sad to only have one left.

Delicious. The light color hidden its power and longevity. Another example of the excellence of the wines of the Jura.
