Briefly, this seemed a bit over the hill to me: lacking acidity, palate very nutty, but lacking fruit, a moderately long slightly woody finish. Not unpleasant, but certainly not worth twice the price of most bottles of fizz.

Appealing nose with light mousse, lemon blossom, some yeast. Not particularly fragrant. The palate is very exciting, with still very good acidity, nice mousse, toast, fresh lemony notes, some ginger, and a long, lingering ending with oak to balance the acidity. This wine is singing now and it really beat my expectations - it's fresh but starting to mature for a more complex experience.

Nose: Chardonnay come through, fuit confit, apricots, peachy.. Nose is very ample and present. Makes you want to go one step further and taste it.
Taste: Fruity, fully bodied with depth and yet refreshing ... maybe the only "defect" that it lacks a little in length. But it is a true pleasure to drink. Has to rank among the champagnes that I liked, especially given that I was afraid that it was past it prime. I believe it is around prime now and should / canoe drunk pretty soon for those who have it cellared.

I've heard the 2004 were good at bringing out the green apple flavors, but I didn't find that to be the case with this one. It actually seemed a bit advanced and almost round, bready, yeasty, nutty. Small bubbles and delicious. Excellent wine but perhaps not for the complete acid heads. Drink up.

Agree with others that there is not much more time to cellaring this. Pretty little bubbles and very pale straw color. Whiff of yeast and some pear with light mineral notes. SShort finish. Best as an aperitif. Drank for our 30th, as Moet was our wedding champagne. Nice with Chinese! No need to rerate.

Clear, light gold in glass. A nose of ripe apple, citrus lemon and lime, almonds, biscuit. On the palate this was dry, with medium(+) acidity and a medium body. Tim + Ching Birthday 2016 (Extra Space): No expectations at all on seeing the bottle. But on tasting this is really not bad. Appearance is clear, pale intensity, gold colour. Fading fast bubbles. Nose is clean, medium+ intensity, with aromas of buttery nuts, brioche, saline minerality. Developed. On the palate, dry, high acidity, medium alcohol (12.5%), medium body. Medium+ flavour intensity, with flavours of almond nuts, butter, saline minerality, ripe lemon fruit. Medium+ finish. Good quality. Nuts and minerality is definitely nice here, but losing fruit already, and tastes older than you would think for 2004. Becoming more like an aged white burgundy. Time to drink up and enjoy.

Didn't have huge expectations for this but it was terrific. Seems mature and reminds me of great white burgundy in it's flinty minerally quality. Brioche, lemon curd, green apple and peach. Palate soft as silk with crystal clear bubbles and lasting acidity. This is mature and drinking great right now. I wouldn't be cellaring it long term.

Mid straw. Good fizz. Nose started with brassicas before the citrus and peach came through. Started fresh and zesty with more tropical notes than the nose. Then came a bitter note like almonds and the yeasty element. Overall, starts fresh and fruity end with a savoury profile. This feels like it's aging faster than I'd expect and came across as complex and deep. I really like it.
Moët et Chandon can be unpredictable yet this Grand Vintage from 2004 was absolutely fabulous. This will sound like heresy but like Cantenac Brown below, I enjoyed this far more than the Dom Pérignon 2004 which is overrated in my opinion. Also don't bother with the 2006 Grand Vintage. It's not nearly as good as the 2004.
The 2004 is crisp, precise and very fragrant. Peach, almonds, mango and citrus fruit open up into a palate of subtle spice and brioche. Has a relatively low dosage but it's still extremely fruity and not at all austere.
Extremely impressed with this. It's drinking wonderfully now and may be at its best. Some careful ageing may improve this further but it's not quite as youthful as the Laurent Perrier Vintage from 2004 so I'm not so sure.
As I enjoyed this champagne, I thought how can Moët produce a champagne as nuanced and lovely as this whilst making something as dreadful as Ice Imperial?!

I am so disappointed I lost my notes on this because it was superb. We drank this to celebrate my brother/sister-in-laws 20th wedding anniversary and it was superb. Incredibly, I actually preferred it to a Dom Perignon I had a month later it was that good. I have two more in storage but will buy more. Great QPR

Ble skuffet over denne for to år siden, gav da lite sammenliknet med moet nv. Nå overrasket den positivt. Duft av melon og sitrus med tydelig autolysepreg. etter litt luft kommer det frem flotte sjø- og mineral-toner på smak med fin syre. ettersmak med antydning til mynte sopp og smør. God vin, men for meg er nok Pol Roger hakket bedre i denne prisklassen The wine looks light gold colored. The legs are medium. There is no sediment in the bottle.

This was very different from bottles tasted six months ago or longer. The notes of citrus and other fruits had blended into something more elegant, with hints of apple cider and floral notes. It's hard to judge this against the earlier bottles; this is good in its own way. I suspect this is much more evolved than the other bottles for some reason -- the cork was sound, so it isn't oxygen. I think the earlier bottles were more distinctive, but this is more impressive in that it seems to have transcended its origins: It's hard to believe it came from grape juice. It's not as striking and complex as some (more expensive) Champagnes I have had, but it is excellent nonetheless.

Pale toward straw with a very fine bead; clear and bright. Lemons, stones, and just the slightest touch of anything autolyse. Remarkable penetration and drive, with very clean lines and a finish that lasts and lasts, remaining precise and focused throughout. A really good value that will no doubt benefit from additional cellar time. 38% Chard, 33% Pinot Noir, 29% Pinot Meunier; disgorged in 2012. 12,5% abv. drink thru 2019

Grapefruit citrus and a hint of yeast on the nose; on the palate, pear, grapefruit, lemon, a hint of sulfur, and a bit of nuttiness/buttery pastry on the finish. The fruit gives this a sweet feel as it hits the tongue, although the numbers say this is extra brut. I have had two bottles of this that were excellent, three that were good, two that underperformed, and one that was corked; this bottle is in the good range.

Not nearly as good as the 2002, but still very enjoyable. Slightly sweet, certainly not as dry as many purists would like. Pale yellow colour, fine mousse, yeasty aromas. Lacking the apple and citrus notes compared to the 2003, but there was the marzipan or almond flavour that I enjoyed last time. Perhaps too early in its development. Never mind: I have some more!

I am mainly a Growers Champagne and non-dosage fan, so outside of tastings I hardly ever drink the wines from the big houses, and if I do preferrable the wines from Bollinger, Krug or Billecart-Salmon. So as I do not get around this types of Champagnes all too often, I was curious about tasting this wine.
The wine showed a nice light golden color. Nose displayed hints of breadcrust, Granny Smith apples and pink grapefrut. But the taste is quite hard and astringent, with a fair amount of acidity (and lots of bubbles). This is a "straight in-your-face" Champagne, very direct lacking in my opinion elegance. All a bit out of sync and not really relaxing to drink.
As I initially did not like the wine I put the glass away, after about an hour I had another sip of the warmed-up Champagne and it showed more balance. I do not expect this to become a great Champagne, but it may be worthwile to wait a year or two to see and hope if it gets more blanced. I trust in the vintage so I will not open my next bottle until 2015.

Served in an overlong flute, this was an austere teardrop of bone white chill. It has been suggested the blend is almost 40% chardonnay, which I can believe as all I could taste on the first mouthful was lemon and the frost in my frontal lobe.
The big marques make champagne for the globalised world: inoffensive, mass-marketable, in Duty Free everywhere. And this, despite being a vintage year, fulfilled the criteria. Even after the glass warmed I was hard pressed to identify much more than some mean apple and unripe pear. And the chardonnay, of course. Plenty of that.
But in a way, it was the perfect aperitif. It cleansed, stripped, neutralised the ground for the meal to come.
Champagne Tasting: Lemon, grapefruit and toast. Powerful acidity nicely countered by the creamy mouthfeel. Fairly light depth to the fruit but I like the brightness and overall enjoyability of the wine.

Light smoke and gunpowder on the nose, with hints of green apples and lemon, some vanilla present. On the palate this is very fresh and typical for the vintage, with cream, good mousse, vanilla and sweet lemons and sweet grapefruit. Finishes with good minerality and a hint of white pepper. Nice & elegant, with a good future ahead.

A private lunch (Restaurant Bridges at Sofitel The Grand, Amsterdam, NL): A blend of 38% Chardonnay, 33% Pinot Noir and a whopping 29% Pinot Meunier, dosage 5 gr/l. Since the 2000, Moët has developed a clearly recogniscable style for its now excellent Grand Vintage Brut, rich and toasty, with ripe fruit (citrus, pear), honey and spice and a lovely balance, energy and length. Obviously not as powerful as the 2002, but perfectly in keeping with the fresher style of the 2004 vintage. Seamless, harmonious, attractive.
(Last-minute Brunner) Green fresh fruits, yeasty fresh bread sweetness on the nose. Light, refreshing, elegant palate, with some grapefruit bitters, green apples, light lime and just a hint of vanilla. Yum!

This was my WOTN at the M&C champagne event at century celebrating the sponsorship of the PGA championship. This was nice, dry and very pale in the glass. Again white flowers, orchard fruit, but much more minerals coming off in the bouquet. In the mouth the lively acidity and mineral showed a racy structure and I think this will develop nicely in the cellar. The palate was feeling weightless as the yellow apple and a touch of hazelnut whirled about so pleasantly. Nice long finish which made the mouth water, and lips pucker.

For some reason this bottle seemed a bit off -- it didn't have any of the citrus or yeasty elements that previous ones did. I am starting to think the problem may be allergies affecting my palate; I have had more off bottles in the last month than in the previous full year.

Moët & Chandon (Wijnhandel Peeters @ Rotterdam , the Netherlands.): This refined wine that offers up a bouquet of citrus, peach and chalky minerality. On the palate the wine is medium-bodied and very precise on the classy complex finish. I would definitely cellar this wine for another eight years to let some secondary aromas come through. Chardonnay 38%. Pinot Noir 33%. Pinot Meunier 29%. Disgorged in 2012 - Dosage: 5g/l.

Pear, citrus, and a touch of peach, with good minerality and strong yeasty notes. This tastes like the old Moet & Chandon Brut Imperial, before they changed the name to "Imperial" and made it sweeter for American palates (too sweet for me.) This is as dry as it should be, and more complex than the old low-end bottling as well.

Pale ivory. A very full nose. Really toasty, with peaches and orange, white grape, and a hint of mushroom. The taste is very similar - but for me, the toastiness is a bit much. Lots of bitter citrus peel on the finish. The midpalate is deliciously fruity though - pure, with that intensity you tend only to get with vintage champagnes. Not bad at all, but perhaps not the style I quite go for. Plenty of vigour for the next five to ten years. [Cork + cage; 12% abv; Tesco, special offer around £33].

Öppen och tillgänglig nu, väldigt rostad och fruktdriven. Inte allt för kraftig syra som är bra integrerad. Något kort eftersmak men lättdrucken. Imponerar inte allt för mycket men kan väl sammanfattas som rättframt och gott. Pinotdriven.

Quite toasted nose, ripe yellow fruit with some peach, citrus, hints of white flowers. Medium-weight palate with citrus aromas, strong minerality, high acidity, and some bitterness. The style is quite Chardonnay-influenced for only making up 38% of the blend, and surprisingly toasty for its age. Can definitely age, but drinks well already. I've marked it down somewhat because of the bitterness. Bottle disgorged 2012.

The wine looks light gold colored.
