Full of fire and dried plum when opened, then settled into a lovely and complex smoky, earthen drink with a long finish that carried us through our 3 hour dinner at Greens Restaurant. Wish I had more.

People who say this wine is past its prime are crazy. Still plenty of dried cherries. The age has softened the tannins. This is one of the most food friendly wines I have ever tasted. I am rarely disappointed with Paul Draper projects.

Nice wine. Cherry cough syrup, charcoal, and raspberry leaf on the nose. Medium weight, resolved tannins. Sweet raspberries and black pepper in the mouth. Surprisingly complex. Drink now.

Opened by Anwar as part of a 1999, 2002 and 2003 vertical. My favorite of the 3. The most fruit forward without being over the top. Solid tannins. 90 points.

Medium-dark red color. Aromas of cherry, currant, and chocolate. On the palate, this shows some dusty cherry and currant flavors with a blackberry and milk chocolate mid-palate and some slight roasted fruit characters into a medium finish. This doesn't offend, but doesn't really invite you back on its own. Serve with roasted or braised meats, perhaps. Structurally sound for keeping, but no further improvement anticipated. Drink.

Better than my last bottle, light in flavor and color but seemed like it had a lot of alcohol, wonder if the label is low? Lot's of acid, not a bad thing necessarily, but this particular acid really upset my stomache. Not up to snuff for Ridge.

When I first opened the bottle the wine was dead and I wondered what was going on. I also thought I detected small amounts of TCA. Warming and a power decant allowed something to show through, a nose of prune and toasty vanilla oak. The flavors were of muted raspberry, chocolate and tar and there is still some question about TCA. Not a great bottle, hopefully number two will be better but I would put this on a six month death watch.

this is a really nice wine. It matched perfectly with barbequed spare ribs and the sauce. Deep rich aroma leading to a nicely balanced, mouth coating dusty dark berry fruit but not too fruity.

Aromas of deep, plummy fruit, black pepper, and baking spices. Very soft on the palate, almost hollow on the mid-palate. Finishes with moderate, fine, grippy tannins. An enjoyable, easy-drinking wine.

14.5% alc...77% Zin, 17% Carignane, 6% PS...gorgeous nose of sweetness, black pepper, and a touch of candied brambliness...very forward, yet structured palate of medium weight, juicy and spicy zin fruit - nice yum factor that goes on and on, never cloying, just persistent - could be for 15+ seconds...***.

Super duper corked. So stinky our server noticed it immediately on pulling the cork without even smelling the bottle or cork directly.

Drink now. Will not improve. Probably was better a year or two ago.

Not much left. Easy drinking, and nothing obviously wrong, but nothing 'great' either.

Drank too soon. Needed more time in the bottle to develop. Plenty of acid to devlop over time.

For Ridge, this is a soft zin. Overall not very interesting. Rustic, with some cherry, spice, and a hint of sausage.
