Last tasted 4/16 when I suggested drinking sooner vs. later. Found one more and can't remember if I stashed it on purpose to see if the Mourvedre would carry it or if I just forgot about it.
Color/App: deep, moderately dark (though translucent) ruby core -> diffuse carmine rim. Still a notably red-fruit dominant nose with raspberries and strawberries, leather and some of what I've come to think of as "old-Cali fruit-breaking-down" spiciness. Palate is also veering toward red fruit territory and this still shows a lot (LOT) of acidity. But man does this go nicely with food: very Bolognese-friendly! Good, medium bodied red that is probably just edging off that plateau of maturity. Definitely still really nice but time to drink up.

A touch of prickly volatility marks this wine. Backed up with pretty red fruit a bit of cedary oak and a kiss of vanilla from the oak on the finish. Nice, but I’d drink this sooner rather than later for it’s pretty red fruit and current balance.

Purchased 2 of these on release, consumed the first 6 years ago. Pop and pour, consumed over 2 hours. Nose: Medium expressiveness, showing it's age - forest floor, shoe leather, subtle red fruit - raspberry and strawberry - with hints of cinnamon and spice. Palate: Tart red fruit and spice attack, plenty of acidic back-bone thru the mid-palate, leather, tobacco, and earthy notes appear thru the back-end and persist through a medium length finish. I would say this is near, if not at, it's peak.
Update: About 1/3 of the bottle was vacuvined and refrigerated for 2 days. This has smoothed out and settled into a noticeably more favorable drinking experience this evening. The fruit profile is less red, more blue notes, and less tart though the acidic back-bone is still going strong. Upon further review, I don't believe this is peaking now, probably 2-4 years yet. Upgrading rating from 90 to 91.

A fascinating wine--quite unlike anything else I've had. Upon first sip it was all darkly purple, briar berry and a bit of fat. As it sat in the glass more raspberry notes emerged, with very mild tannins and a silky mouth feel. Grapes finish with smoke notes. A very good food wine, perfect for grilled meats.

Cool bramble zin berry fruit, a touch of wood spice and Vanilla from the oak on the nose. Opens quickly and becomes smooth on the finish with a bit of air. Dark purple fruited with ok intensity but a bit simple on the palate. A bit of stemmy tannic grip, a bit of oak and a slight bitter note on the finish. Just enough acidity to keep it lively on the palate. This doesn't have the intensity or depth of the best vintages. Drink up, I don't see this getting any better as the fruit fades and the 15.2 % ETOH comes forward.

Popped and poured, deep ruby hue. Big aromas of dark, plummy fruits along with clay, chocolate covered raisins, black pepper and other subtle spices. Plus concentration, decent acidity. Although there's a touch heat, this is absolutely stacked with delicious Zin fruits - basically personifies "Yum." The tannins are quite polished on the lasting finish. Drinking in the zone and should continue to over next few years.

A bit of fizz plus a metallic flavor on first opening, something I have encountered enough times in Bedrock reds to realize it's probably not an off bottle but just how some of their reds taste. I set it aside for the next day, when it had shed those unpleasant features, and had a nice liqueur-like red and purple berry fruit and pretty good balance. Not complex, but tasty and solid on day two.

Deep purple color. Boysenberry and blackberry preserves on the nose with a touch of cinnamon. Similar tastes on the palate with the addition of some vanilla on the backend. Medium finish. A nice wine but a tad too sweet for me. Drink now.

Shocked at how good this is for the vintage. Ripe, balanced, sweet spice, juicy acidity. The zin component is very civilized yet full flavored. Morgan nailed it! Bravo! Drinks great on day 2. In a great spot to drink right now but it held together just fine day 2 so it should hold a few years also.

Initially, the other recent notes were pretty accurate. A little flabby as well. But the more this opened, the quicker it got oxidized. Cork looked in tact. Seemed flawed.

I opened a bottle based on recent notes. Loren's note is pretty spot on. Nice perfume, little bit of blackberry kirsch and red cherries, but a hollow mid palate. Perfectly drinkable bottle, a little on the generic side. Doesn't carry the usual Bedrock weight. I'd say drink up.

T-Day wines (Becklyn, Carlisle, Lillian, RM, Bedrock): Meh. I hoped for more. We ended up recorking and saving for later today in the hopes that it shows better on day 2. It can happen. It is certainly not a bad wine, but just not a lot of distinguishing notes. Very much a very good generic red wine. It was pop and pour, so let's see what some air does to it.
Showing a bit of oxidation on Day 2 (just left on the counter with a cork in it). No improvement, actually not as good. A bit of a disappointment to me. Just a light generic red wine. Probably a sign of the vintage as much as anything. Certainly a nice enough wine, but one hopes for more. I would recommend drinking these soon.

Poured from Coravin, drinking well now and much better than expected. The fruit, tannin and acid seemingly coming into better balance. Truly enjoyed this, very little aeration yet overt in its presentation. Would say this is ready to go now.

PnD 1/2 the bottle after chilling in the fridge for 1hr. Dark purple garnet almost saturated with clear rim. Blackberry tar espresso dark chocolate and violets on the nose. Medium weight with nicely grippy sour cherry skin tannins. A touch boozy in a pleasant way with blackberry dried cherry prune fig espresso a bit of Amarone but lots of racy acidity to keep it balanced. Lots of complexity and youth.

When I last tasted this two years ago, I was effusive in my praise. It remains delicious and unconventional. That said the exuberant profile has changed and one now gets a lot of the savory umami spectrum, including teriyaki, cardamom, and clove, and some welch's grape juice. The flavors are more exciting now than the aromas. I attribute both points to the high percentage of Mourvedre. This wine is still evolving and has a good life ahead of it but it was my last bottle. 4 + 11 + 18 + 7

Pop and pour. Initially, very nice acidity and minerality. The fruit is kept in check by a wild brambly nature. There is a bit of heat on the finish. Day 1 this was a fine-drinking zinfandel, but did not reach the 90+ level. Day 2 under argon, the wine became quite flabby. It lost about 1/2 of its acidity and minerality, and the alcohol became very noticable. I could go either way on this wine, but for the $35 I paid for it, I might try my luck elsewhere.

Can't seem to find my notes from Morgan regarding composition of this wine; primarily Zinfandel and Mourvedre with maybe some Carignane and other grapes in smaller quantities.
Color: dark fuchsia/purple core -> light fuchsia rim. Bouquet screams Zinfandel to me: brambly blackberries, raspberries, cranberry and rhubarb with a touch of earthiness. Palate is all about the fresh red fruit! Medium-bodied, this comes across as lively and light with killer acidity; Dancing Ballerina Wine (DBW is now a thing). Not sure what percentage Zinfandel is here but it certainly has taken center stage for the moment -- not really getting much in the way of Mourvedre. Well-timed picking to my mind, though; the Zin fruit is well balanced and not overripe -- something I pretty much detest. I would agree with those advocating for drinking this young. It's vivacious and wonderful now and I can't see this gaining additional complexity. Pull those corks and enjoy it!
Much better than my previous bottle. Nose of plum, dark berries, lavendar and spice. Palate goes back and forth between red and dark berry, with plum, spice and vanilla tones intertwined. Medium body and tannin with a nice, crisp acidic spine that frames it all up quite nicely.

Wines At Our Table; February 7th, 2016: The wine pours an opaque violet color with intriguing and appealing smoke, black fruit, briary spice aromas. On the palate it's medium-bodied, fresh and sleek with a great mouth feel, and dusty tannins with black cherries dusted with dark chocolate, and black raspberry flavors with a bit of minerality.

Violet in color. 15.2% ABV. From 100 year old vines a blend of Zinfandel, Carignane, Mourvedre and Mixed Whites. Absolutely fantastic nose of red fruits, citrus and cocoa. Fresh and luscious with acidity in spades. Strawberry, cranberry and peppered beef jerkey on the palate. The finish is tremendous. One of the best Bedrocks in recent memory. Drink over the next 2-3 years.

Aromas and flavors of red fruit (mostly raspberry), cocoa and bramble. The palate adds some earth/herbs. Medium acid/tannins/finish. This is drinking quite well now and somehow seems to have gained structure since my note from three years ago. Not sure it will improve substantially with age but should continue to drink well for several more

Full bodied, almost waxy/viscous texture. Good amount of tannins. Tons of red fruits. I liked but did not love this today, though I think it has enough structure to shed some of the primary fruit and get really interesting in 5-10 years.

Had half the bottle last night sealed it in the fridge to try today. Dark purple garnet dense but not saturated with lilac rim. Earthy blackberry (zin) with licorice herbs and raspberrys on the nose. Medium weight with polished tannins with nice grip on the finish. Red and black fruits with a savoury amaro note. Big flavours with an elegant balance and lots of complexity. Lingering amaro finish. Delicious on its own and with food

Purposely not scoring this. REALLY interesting bottle - thought it was borderline corked on day 1. Let it sit. Day 2 started to come around. Let it sit. Day 3 it was really tasty, and wished I'd left more for Day 3. Not sure what to make of all that...someone more wine savvy than I please jump in and tell people when to drink this wine...
I enjoyed this quite a bit, as did the rest of the table. Very fruit-forward wine, primarily red-fruited, but not simple. Strawberry, cranberry, cherry, and herbs on the nose. Somewhat soft and plush, with plenty of acidity and a crunchy cranberry mid-palate. Struck me as zin-like in the attack, and Beaujolais-like in the mid palate and finish. Incredibly well-balanced. While this is a rich wine, it hid the alcohol quite well (I would not have guessed that it was over 14%). Nice.

This was my first Bedrock, while I liked it more than my wife it is probably nothing I'd buy again. Aromas were nice, an evolving mix of red and dark berries, lavender, vanilla and dried herbs. The palate was lightish medium body, but at the same time more lush than I expected, featuring red berries, raisin, herbs. Gentle tannins and a lively acidic cut keep it from being too jammy. Will let my other bottle sit for awhile and see how another year of so treats it.

This is so friggin good. Cherry cola, cranberry, fruit-o-licious. Well integrated and drinking really well. I guess you could wait, but why? Meanwhile, if I keep buying Bedrock by the case and waiting for deeper development I will run out of cellar space. Drink up!

Delicious, nervy wine with notes of raspberry liqueur, cranberry, and just a tiny touch of oak. I love it. Not as intense or concentrated as the 2012 Bedrock Bedrock Heritage, which is my only reference point. But a thing of beauty. This is a reminder to me -- and to you -- that I should never buy less than my full allocation of any of the Bedrock Heritage wines.

This is my idea of a great, unique California wine - a Zin dominated blend with a nuanced nose, some blueberry/raspberry notes (but not a jammy wine), with some herbal notes and very lighthanded oak. Moderate tannins means it's fine to drink now but I'll sit for another year or two.

Wow! This wine, for me, is a dramatic example of why I need to let my Bedrock reds rest in the cellar longer; what a difference a year made. I popped this and left it slow decant for about two hours. At first the wine had an absolutely beguiling light perfume to it, and was full of red fruits and exotic spices. Over the course of the evening it darkened considerably. The nose was full of dark fruits, meat, and brambles, while it tasted of dark fruits, blueberries, and cherries. On the back of the tongue I could detect a touch of raisin, which I often associate with Zin. The dark flavors were balanced by nice acidity. Wish I had a bunch more of these, I bet it only gets better!

Hmmm...a very different experience than others. Perfumed berries on the initial pop, but a prominent almost Pinot-like, earthy, funkiness on the nose. This persisted throughout the night at all stages of the evolution. Lighter in style, but with a nice peppered spice for the 1st hour or so. Hints of tea leaves and tobacco also there. Interesting layers here, an elegant wine. Curious to see where this goes in the next few years.

This is a mid weight wine compared to other Bedrock heritage field blends. Tart cranberry, strawberry, raisins, brown sugar, and a bit of rhubarb, all backed by a mineral streak. Others have noted some heat but I didn't get that at all. The acidity is a bit soft. A different style for Bedrock but delicious just the same.

Brought this to dinner at The Backyard and decanted through the evening. Been a little over a year since i last tasted it. This came across a lot more extracted and rich than my first bottle. It has a huge juicy core of blackberry and vanilla that just envelops the mouth. Whole lotta flavor going on here with some briary elements and mild tannins. Perhaps a better pair with some good BBQ than with Chicken Pot Pie. Regardless, I liked it and am tagging it as a drink sooner than later wine. Summertime cookouts!

I found this to be unfocused and overextracted. Tasty yes, but not what I'm accustomed to when I open a Bedrock wine. Lots of reds and blacks fighting for what acidity there was available, to bring this into balance. Also a touch hot.

Decanted approx. 2 hours ... Tart and quite tight, even after a decent decant. Cranberry fruit, mineral notes, tannins a tad pokey and acid a bit out of balance. Generally enjoyable, but probably way too young. Not bad now, but, like most Bedrocks, I'm guessing this will be better with bottle age. The structure and stuffing are all there, but it's not quite in harmony, yet.

This was a little disjointed, probably a dumb phase. This is likely better in a year, but drink over the next 3-5. Acidity was off balance and the finish was a little weird. Did not score, but would have been lower than my last...AM

Wonderful body of wine. This is why I love my Bedrock! Blueberry, cassis, and pepper on the nose. Velvet on the palate. Nice balance of fruit and acid with a lingering finish. Will drink great now after an hour or 2 in the decanter, but will continue to improve over the next few years. A great wine to put next to any roast or holiday meal.

Evolving balance of zin and mourvedre components now, given lift by the assemblage that includes 10 percent whites. More velvet on the mid-palate and finish than before, if slightly less perfumed overall, but that could be the rather chilly outdoor temps in the 50s when we drank it. 90

One of the first Bedrock reds we've dared to open, hope the rest are this good. Decanted for 45 minutes, put the second half of the bottle away for later. Still a little tight and dusty at first, but kept opening as we drank. Wonderful nose, even better taste, nice balanced wine with good long finish.
Second day: I thought a little pruny after a while. If we had another, would drink it the first day!

This has tightened up quite a bit since my previous bottle was opened last Thanksgiving. Needs a decant. Quite tart at first, but starts to open up to some cherries, spice, and cranberry relish after about a half hour, much the wine I remember from last year. It didn't last much longer past that, but best to give this a little air.

Get out the inane fruit comparisons!! Beautiful Beaujolais nouveau color with a whiff of CO2 (but no spritz or in-bottle malolactic). Possibly the most voluptuous Zinfandel aromas I've ever experienced: incense, mulberries, red currants, cedary-oak spice, beaujolais-nouveau/candied raspberries but with a little blueberry tone and waxiness, earth, meat, and fresh mushroom. Savory spice and intense fruit drive the elixir across the tongue, seeking an encounter with grilled meat or creamy grained mushroom risotto. Like most Zinfandels it exits casually, without pretense. The intensity again reminds me of similarities between Priorats and Rockpile/DCV Zins, tho this lady hails from Contra Costa County. Now at 65-68 F.

I have not dipped into too many of my non Zin Bedrocks, thinking that the Syrah and heirloom wines should get 3 plus years of cellar age. But the winemaker said enjoy young and I did. The nose is light red fruit, maybe carignane, plum color with red lights at the rim, the body is balanced with lots of fresh acid and round tannins. Good finish. This is the wine I want for Thanksgiving, but drank my only bottle. Do it again!

Popped and poured with a rustic vegetable ragu over pasta. A bit sweet/cooked at first, but it quickly settled down. I can definitely taste the zinfandel in there, with some very dark fruits, but the finish becomes more perfumey. It is quite tastey.

This is a wonderfully unique wine that grabs your attention and makes you think, which are what I prize most in a wine. Almost purple in color, but not inky dark like a zinfandel or syrah. The initial attack has the dark, slightly cooked fruit flavors of a zinfandel and some of the peppery kick of a syrah, but the great acidity and bright cherry finish balance out the dark fruit aspects and let you know that there is something else there. Perhaps Gamay? Whatever it is, it works. There is great complexity and balance in this wine with a long, mouthwatering finish. If you are tired of the same-old same-old and want a quality alternative, find this wine.

This seems to have improved over the last few months. This still is a crisp, lifted, red-fruited wine... but not as tart and sharp as before. Cranberries and strawberries, with a bit of spritz (which quickly dissapates after a few minutes). Enjoyable and food-friendly.

Definitely ripe. Definitely young. Definitely hot. Not insignificant oak. For all that, though, this is a balanced fun engaging wine that is just hard not to love. Very well done and a tribute to the old vines and the good winemaking that a wine this "big" can still be in balance and can work well with food.

Translucent on the eye with a dark plum core and intense violet hues on the rim. Alluring brambley aromas filled with layers of blackberries, blueberries, raspberries, licorice, violets, tar, incense, and sweet spices. Cool toned flavors of ripe blackberries, blueberries, cranberries on the attack leading to a mouth drying midpalate filled with sour cherries, raspberries, with saline like acidity. A moderate finish filled with dark chocolate, plums, blackberries, black pepper, and fine grained tannins that are very discreet. A mid bodied wine showing clean fruit flavors kept in balanced by refreshing acidity, great velvety texture as well as sturdy structure. Important to note I kept half of the bottle until the next day, the wine improves tremendously. Yes Morgan, I agree this is “f**king delicious”.
Initially very high toned bright red fruit, somewhat volatile. Settles down a bit, and it shows some nice spice with the red fruit, but the alcohol is very much present on the finish. Pretty good, but the last bottle was better. To drink sooner rather than later.

Consumed over 2 days, note from day 2. Nose: Medium expressiveness, licorice, black raspberry, leather, and ????. Palate: Medium-full bodied, sweet red fruit and Asian spice attack with a gamey - venison - component, flavors build in intensity through the mid-palate to back-end. Finish: Medium-plus length dominated by ripe dark red fruit and spice. The mid-palate strength of this wine is quite impressive.

Aromas of red fruit, flowers, and a bit of earth/bramble. As everyone else has said this is young but already drinking so nicely. Plush red fruit and creme de violette initially, a midpalate balancing ripe fruit with acidity, then a hint of earth along with raspberry juice on the finish. Seamless. Surprisingly low in tannins but otherwise nicely balanced. I'll try to follow it over time but have a feeling these will best be consumed in the short term.

PnP, then Vinturied & consumed over 6.5 hrs. Very tasty fruit forward Zin blend. I agree with KenH below. Loved this wine, though it struggled up against a spicy asian dish. But once the meal was over, I could have drunk this like water!

3rd bottle can't keep my hands off these as the youth is just too good. I'm getting a handle on this one now. First off, as forward as this wine can be, it is important to try it with different food and solo. The mouth is important to the flavor it imparts. Pours a pale burgundy, slightly translucent, which for a zin blend tells me something is afoot such as a winemaker. Great on the pop and pour it has some floral pastille, crunchy red orchard fruits of apple and plum, and some juicy red raspberry and cranberry with mouthwatering acidity. The texture is pretty, light and silky with a touch of volume. Light spice and still the mourvedre provides a perfect counterpoint of earthiness for a great base tone. Forget gulp-able, this is guzzle-able. Overall, a beautiful expression of terroir and a wine that gets huge points for delicious factor. Fabulous!

From the second glass, after the bottle had been opened for a couple hours - on the nose, some zin character, a bit of leather funk, and some florals. On the palate, difficult to pin down. Initial entry is plush, but there are some high notes and acidity to keep the overall package a bit lighter on its feet than I was expecting. A couple minutes and a few sips later, a rather deep and rich finish. Overall, balanced. I agree with an earlier review that this does seem to morph back and forth in the glass quite a bit. The blend makes it really hard to characterize this one. It reminds me of some homemade wine I've had, albeit a comparatively well made version, giving an impression of authenticity and lack of pretense.
Agree this is probably a near to mid-term drinker....within the next couple of years would be my target.

While this is a fairly plush wine, it's not without a sense of elegance. Yes, it has a pretty good dose of alcohol, but it's not obtrusive. Very good red fruit aromatics, and very approachable. I would expect this to be something to consume early, which is what I'll do with my remaining bottle.

This one started out with brambly raspberry balanced by tart cranberry notes and spice on the palate; the nose reflected similar notes but was not as expressive. The acidity was wonderfully mouthwatering, and the finish was very long. Held some overnight, and the profile was basically unchanged on day 2 with the addition of blueberry plus very slight hints of vanilla on the finish. In sum, echoing the chorus of praise for this wine as it really was lively, tasty and just fantastic.

Not sure what to think of this. It possesed pretty red fruits, mostly strawberry, along with some herbs and rhrubarb. A little bit like Gamay. Low in tannins, which would make you think this is accessable, but the acids are bright and very tart. Almost a sensation of "spritz" as well (some CO2?). This was a pop and pour and this did get better with some air. Judgement reserved until I try again on day 2. UPDATE: This resolved itself pretty well overnight, putting on a bit more flesh and gaining better balance. A bit of a crushed stone note appeared in the finish. Pleasant, but not sure I would buy more.

Dark ruby wine with an herbal edge. Medium body, can’t figure out the herb/spice that hits you in the mid-palate, maybe Chinese five spice!?! Interesting and polarizing wine.

Dark ruby in color; nose of black cherry, baked strawberry, anise, fresh flowers; ripe strawberry, blackberry, cranberry palate with a slit smokey finish at times; initially tart but also holds a really nice rich mouthfeel, great balance between solid acids and smooth tannins, this an easy drinker with and without food; medium plus finish.
Drank one glass each night over four nights. Very consistent and enjoyable. Best on days 1 and 2 though. Just a beautiful wine.

Bright, crisp, juicy fruit that belies this wine's brooding, savory, smokey aromas. Really a nice balance of ripeness and acidity- there is no flab in this- I'd drink this now based on its excellent level of energy. Terrific QPR

Ruby red with perfumed floral nose and vivid cranberry relish on the palate, nice balancing acidity, finishing with subtle oak hints. Nice early drinker from Bedrock and a great substitute for cranberries at the Thanksgiving Day table.

Beautiful purple. Nose of flowers and berries. This evolved over a couple of hours in the decanter, and would suggest decanting for a few hours before consuming. Gorgeous bright fruit in the form of both light and dark berries. Hint of earth on the back end with well balanced acidity. Fairly long finish. Really nice!

Agree with most notes -this is drinking well for being so young, not sure how much more it will develop over time versus being consistent with what it is today (which isn't a bad thing). It's a very earthy wine with a touch of spice, lighter in body than a typical zin, but it's a tasty bottle.

This wine is very complex and perfectly balanced. I think this will add depth to improve over the next 3 years. Dark fruits on a medium bodied frame. This reminds me of Ridge Lytton Springs or a lighter version of Bedrock Heritage. Very nice and will improve...AM
Re-corked and on the counter for 2 days. More primary blue fruit, and it added some weight on the palate. More spice evident. This is very tasty, don't be scared of a long decant...AM

Initial nose tempered/barely existent, light weight for a zin, lingering finish, fresh balanced, two hours in and the nose is still light, more fruit coming through on the palate, finish is still long. Characteristics of Pinot with less earth. Well balanced and interesting.

Opened on Thanksgiving before dinner. No formal notes but this was delicious. Unfortunately others thought so too so I only got a tiny amount. I recall some brambly berries, tart and sweet cherries, a little earth, flowers, and a little pepper. There's a nice richness to the mouthfeel, but also a well balanced amount of acidity that gives it lift and that delicious factor. Good finish too. I wish I had more bottles.

Popped and poured at Thanksgiving...definitely was a hit. Nose was somewhat reserved showing wild red berries and floral notes. Much different story on the palate - vibrant and full of verve (lots of v's) with more of the red berry meets pomegranate with hints of stone. Great finish with mouth-watering acid that gives amazing lift and length. Not overly complex, but delicious. Should have bought more.
I was not particularly impressed with this bottle, and it was probably my least favorite Bedrock zin to date. A ripe and slightly hot nose with aromas of fruit compote, blueberries, baking spices/pumpkin pie and hints of eucalyptus. The fruit profile is a mix of red (raspberry) and black fruits and some pleasant acids, but it seems a bit flat and one-dimensional to me. Perhaps this will flesh out with some bottle age, but I tried this over two different nights, and it is just not doing it for me.

WOW! Hard to describe. The wine changed so much with each glass. First the nose was non-existent. Then zin like nose. Then nose disappears. Thoughts were similar to @Madkat...wondering how uniform each bottle was. All that said, very nice bottle of juice. Tasty! Not traditional, just tasty. Enjoy now.

This was a really good bottle of wine but wondering how uniform the bottling of this hertitage is.... Our bottle had all the big juicy red fruits... slight hint of sweetness mixed in with the spicy notes. However, what was remarkable is that there was very little, almost no nose to this wine. Decanted for over an hour so it drank really well, but barely a hint of nose... like I said not uniform. Nonetheless, very tasty bottle of wine.

Have tasted on two occasions (Bedrock pickup day and a week later popped a purchased bottle). I believe this is the first vintage of this wine for MTP. Based on the Bedrock 2011 reds I've tasted so far, this is the most accessable but still tight nonetheless. From memory: The nose is quite complex - cool floral characteristics with a traditional zinfandel structure (crayon). The taste mimics the nose and there is a good structure to it, so it should hold up well over time. While its quite tasty now, I'd give it a year of bottle age to see if it gets any better. Great stuff - should have purchased more...

Sometimes I get in the mood for a big, full-bodied, California wine.
So I pull one from the cellar, open it, and remind myself why that mood is rare.
This is a giant of a wine, stuffed with fruit and earth. Intellectually, I admire what Bedrock is doing with these heritage vineyards, and I wish them the best of luck. Aesthetically, I just couldn't take it. New world through and through, and too much for my palate.

Pop and pour and served with food. Big, robust wine full of juicy grape character. Good fruit; somewhat rustic style with big shoulders. Melange of berries, cherries and dark chocolate. As they say . . . "goes down nice."

Bedrock Pick-Up Event: Great juicey. Really showing well already. Big nose of cherries and floral. Full bodied of blue fruit, pepper, cocoa. Big and juicy. Tannins are smooth and very approachable. Acidity is modest. Might improve with short aging, but this is a lovely wine to drink in the short term. It's a crowd pleaser. I tend to be a bit more of a structure/acidity guy, but this wine turned me into RP.

Translucent black/red coloring. Zin like nose with cranberry and some spice notes. Juicy red fruits, a little pepper, and a slightly tart finish. A little lighter zin style than I am used to from Bedrock. Reminds me of Morgan's early Shebang blends. Should be good to drink over the coming Holidays. Drank with about an hour decant, really opens up after a couple hours.

Delicious. Let's be honest. This wine is not going to win any IQ contests with formulaic complexity or structural nuance. What it will do is melt your face with a spectacular melange of uber juicy red and dark fruits, with the mourvedre providing a pleasant earthy base tone. Well balanced, pleasantly warm, very very approachable and yet taut with super integrated acidity that really does make this juicy. So tasty, and so soon to be gone! Drink now.

What a nifty wine, in line with the expectations set by the winery notes. Bramble spice zin with light pepper, red berry skin, plum and cocoa. Smells like a zin only with heady cherry floral aromatics which I'll credit to the the white grapes in the blend. Served with a slight chill and lip smacking delicious right now. Slightly better on day 1. Would buy more, this wine is fun to drink and sure to be a crowd pleaser.

Crazy early sacrifice to the Gods for letting me get so much Bedrock so early in the shipping season! Pop and pour, let this open up over several hours doing other things, coming back, doing other things, etc.
Dark, fairly opaque. Reductive nose, iron, flowers, toast, game, horse saddle. Delicious 'heritage' fruit, pomegranate, transitioning to savory elements and a medium+ weight. Nice taut medium+ acidity. Finishes in waves, from the tart cranberry down to the very noticeable dry dark tannin which, though some might want to give some time, I think are great.
Heady wine, yet balanced. I am glad I listened to MTP when he said this was one of his favorites and that it was ready to go. 15.2%

A bit of fizz plus a metallic flavor on first opening, something I have encountered enough times in Bedrock reds to realize it's probably not an off bottle but just how some of their reds taste. Not complex, but tasty and solid on day two.

Delicious, nervy wine with notes of raspberry liqueur, cranberry, and just a tiny touch of oak. I love it. Not as intense or concentrated as the 2012 Bedrock Bedrock Heritage, which is my only reference point. But a thing of beauty.

This one started out with brambly raspberry balanced by tart cranberry notes and spice on the palate; the nose reflected similar notes but was not as expressive. The acidity was wonderfully mouthwatering, and the finish was very long.

Bedrock Pickup Tasting (Sonoma): Aromas and flavors of cherries, cranberries, and spice. Fruit forward, bright, and pure, with a medium finish. Drinking well now.

Brought this to a barbecue place last night to share with a friend. Really benefitted from 30+ minutes of air. Shared some samples with waitstaff/management and they were fighting us for the last drops from this bottle.

Big, rich and totally approachable Zin. The color is lighter purple. Lovely perfume on the nose of dark bramble and flowers. The body is suave and rich but with great balance and a nice tannic structure. Easy to enjoy now.
