Sadly my last bottle. 12 year old Zin, still vibrant and fresh. Dark cherries and blackberries dominate, this is so fruit forward still at this age, and yet it's not jammy, there's lively fresh acidity and secondary notes emerging. I wish I had more.

Decanted. Bottle showing moderate sediment. In the glass rich and complex aromas show a mixture strawberry fruit leather, wild berry preserves, and a tint of blueberry that are melded with toasted star anise and exotic spice, rubbed herbs, complex florals, worn suede, earth and hints of shisha smoke and sandalwood that come with warmth from the alcohol. On the palate, silky and smooth with bright acids, easy tannins and full throttle ABV. Flavors glide across the palate relaying notes of strawberry, boysenberry and blueberry that are all super-ripe leaning on jammy with notes of floral pastilles, baking spices, herbs, leather and berry shisha. The finish lingers with warmth and the fruit hanging on the mid-palate. Still hanging in there and a good showing for an '11 at this point

Tasted over two days. Day 1: I'm lovin' the Bedrock '11s, a cooler vintage that ripened fully but retained laser-focused, crystalline acidity. Beautifully bright aromas of red and black fruit, high toned spices and old vine wonderfullness through a brilliant lens of freshness. Day 2: Softened and fleshed out dramatically but still featuring the "cool fruit" of the vintage. I think I prefer Day 1 with a good decant. 93 pts. Now through 2024

PnD let air for 2hrs. Medium purple almost saturated with plum to clear rim. Blackberry clay and sage on the nose. Blackberry sage earth raspberry fresh and ripe. A deep and elegant zin. Nice contrast with the Saitone. Very impressive given 2011 was supposed to be an off vintage. Lots of life ahead.

Settling into a lighter/mellower place. A zin I would characterize as “light/medium” with nice subtlety emerging - a touch of pencil/mineral, and not utterly surrounded by fruit like many of its peers.
Still, doesn’t have quite the depth of other vintages - I’ve had good fortune with other 2011 zins which are showing complexity and depth over “plush”ness - with Papera, I’d say I strongly prefer other vintages - the cold of 11 took away some necessary heft.

Bright red current fruit. Very fruit forward, and dare I say "grapey". Juicy, and simple, not much classic Zin spice or pepper. Tasty nonetheless and very drinkable now.

So I think I'm going to officially drink through the rest of my 2011 Bedrocks (other than the late harvest Semillon), as I just haven't been thrilled with em, and i don't see them getting any better. This was a nice enough zin with pretty red fruits and a slight bit of spice, but it's really lacking on the mid palate, and overall comes across just a little bit too thin. Again, not a bad wine and i still enjoyed it....but I have high expectations when it comes to bedrock and this one just doesn't reach those levels. Kudos though for a solid effort in a difficult vintage.

On opening, the wine was nothing special. After 2 hours, the wine was amazing. From a 90 to an easy 92 at that time. Drink now and enjoy, or wait a year or two. Wish I had another bottle. No notes. BBQ in the Hamptons.

Bright crimson in color. 14.6% ABV. Savory nose of red and black fruits, earthy loam and flowers. Medium body with medium acidity and a hint of spritz. Strawberry, raspberry, blood orange and a little black pepper on the palate. Claret style Zinfandel with a medium length finish. Drink over the next 1-2 years.

Very claret-like. Lots of red fruit and interest, especially on the nose, upon opening. Seemed to become more monolithic with air. Distinct note of menthol or mint.

Poured blind, as part of a 3 wine 2011 Papera zinfandel flight. Of the three wines (the other two being Carlisle and Williams Selyem), this finished last place for me by a good distance. Why? For one, it tasted and looked aged. By first guess was some kind of older zin, like something 10 years of age, say 2006 vintage. It had a roasted, mulled quality, tasting tired. There was also a spearmint gum note to me in the finish, like a stick of Doublemint was flavored into it. Surprising, as given the vintage and the skill of Bedrock, I would not have expected this but again, this was served blind and my notes were honest to what was behind the foil.
I like this a lot, even though it tasted nothing like the other notes to me! Pure raspberry fruit, with loads of dark chocolate to my palate and nose. Very bright acidity, not at all heavy or dense in the mouth. Drinks a bit like a Pinot--pleasantly so--rather than a Zin.

Another Bedrock that tastes soooo much better the next day. color is purple with hints of red/ First day was spritz and tight and not giving much pleasure. On 2nd day, floral, round, perfect acidity, high toned fruit yet a good dose of bramble berry, reduced blackberry and goose berry. This is so good - just love it. But you need to pour a quick sip and drink next day or let these age another 3-5 years, I imagine to achieve the better aspect of this wine.

Splash decant ... This one struck me as still a bit too young. The tannins were pokey and a bit too astringent at first blush, though they softened in the glass as the night wore on. Acid just a little too prominent as well. Everything improved with air, with some black fruit notes shinning through after a bit to balance the tart cranberry, leading me to believe this will be better in a year or so.

Big improvement over the bottle from a year ago. I did not like last year's bottle, but with another year under its belt, it is much better. Strawberry, hay nose. Sweet raspberry, pomegranate, spice and earth palate. More acidic pop than before. More vibrant and fruit forward. Vinturi filtered into a magnum decanter. Left for an hour or two and consumed.

Excellent wine, a nicely balanced, elegant zinfandel. Tart red fruits and some noticeable sweetness upon opening. After a couple hours of air, it really puts on some complexity. The primary aromas are of deep, rich fruit, but I also caught some floral elements. On the palate, spicy, earthy, brambly fruits come to the fore with a hint of citrus/orange. Surprisingly smooth for being so young. It's well-structured and I can see this improving even further over the next couple of years. Will hold my remaining bottle and see how this evolves.

PnP. Nicely structured. Very dark fruits/berries with shot of black pepper and a 'greenish tobacco' element. Weighty but balanced. Not sure this is a food wine, no distraction with pasta/tomato sauce, but we couldn't decide what would be an optimal pairing.

Takes a while to open in the glass, and a few sips to get into the groove. This is still very young and somewhat angular because of that. Great fruit structure - some tart mixed berries, with a spiced finish. Will age well and I expect a better rating over time.

Decanted for 1.5 hrs., then let breathe for 1 more hr., & consumed over 4+ hrs. Dense & fruit-forward, yet not sappy. Top notes of crushed berries, dark licorice & sweet spice, later developing a mild herbaceous & raisinette-like tones. The sweet & slightly firm tannins softened over time exposed to air. Medium-light acidity, medium:full bodied, & a good lingering finish. Approachable now & has some good years ahead. Although not as delicious as the '11 Evangelho I had before, found this similar & not too far off. Very nicely made.

Spectacularly expressive, floral nose. A mid-weight, elegant, nuanced expression of zinfandel. Tart berries both dark and red. Note of citrus. Silky smooth tannins which did become more pronounced and evident after a couple of hours. Purity of fruit. Pronounced minerality. Loved it. Drink over next two years.
This just begged to be opened based on reports, and it wasn't a mistake. Beautiful rich purple color. Some fruit and spice, but nothing over the top. A few tannins at 90 minutes after opening. This improved over 120 minutes. Tasty. I'll let me other bottle sleep until 2015. Dinner with Janet and Lew at home.

A rich deep zinfandel. Bedrock is typically one of my favorite producers of zinfandel, and this one did not disappoint. A lot of deep, rich fruit (rhubarb maybe), and earth notes to add complexity (tobacco).

Dark purple color. Boisterous nose of red bramble, toast, lavender. Blackberries (sweet then tart), boisenberries, fresh dough, medium acidity with a viscous, glycerine mouth feel. Decent grip with dry tannin that sticks to your teeth.
This is fun, and has potential for a few years of cellaring. Like a lot of RRV zinfandel, this is too fun not to sacrifice young. Like a lot of Bedrock, this was my only bottle. 14.6%

This wine really show the characteristics of 2011, more elegant than normal, black cherries, plums, tobacco and new leather on the nose, medium full bodied, nice finish. No real long decant needed for this one, beautiful wine.
