How should I put it, a mythical hybrid between northern Rhone and nebbiolo? A very pretty yet idiosyncratic nose, of strawberry, pomegranate, freshly cracked pepper, and roses. Vibrant, zippy, and oh-so-fun.

Mixed red fruit aromas- cherry, raspberry, pomegranite, cranberry and a bit of earth. The palate matches. Nice red fruit, earth in the background. Aging nicely with medium+ acidity and light-medium tannins. Drinking well now and should continue to age nicely.

Deep red still with an almost purple tinge. Very vibrant and floral on the nose with lots of strawberry fruit. Medium weight, vibrant and mineral with oodles of energy. Fun but backed up by complexity and depth. ****

100 year old Cinsault vines......Check! Lovely fruit.....Check! A wine only Abe Scholium would make.....Check! This time I chilled it down a bit to about 50 degrees and served it like a rose and it was lovely with a mildly spice Thai style chicken.

Light color. And similarly light nose, of earth and wood. Blackberries on the taste, with slight tannins that smooth out in decanting. Some spice at the very end. Very nice.

Bright dark red. Vibrant one, quite floral. Lots of zippy fruit and interest here. Mineral. Real energy. More substance on the palate than I gave it credit for last bottle, and the nose a little fuller and slightly less evocative of a rose garden whilst still retaining a real floral fragrance. Lovely stuff. ****

Unique for California and for Scholium as well. The wine is light on its feet with firm acid and tamed fruit. I liked it at cellar temp with grilled Salmon. The ancient cinsault is almost pinot like in style. Really KickAss!

Keith's Blind Challenge 2013 (The Square, London): Riper, fuller deep red to a slight purple. Very fragrant. Quite lifted cherry and slightly bubblegum nose. Ripe, sweet fruit on the palate. Vibrant Beaujolais-like. Almost rose scented. In fact it becomes very rose scented - floral of a summer's evening, the scent heavy in the air. Roses with a few freesias. ***** nose hat lasts all evening. *** palate, so a low **** overall. A tad pricey but almost worth it for the nose.

Raspberries, cherries, violets, great nose. Good grip, round and very pleasant, good core of fruit, quite light and subtle, persistent finish, great wine!

This is like drinking a Jura red in a burger joint. Dried cherry, dried flowers, and a whiff of onion armpit on the nose, soy, powdered red fruits. Sometimes reminds me of Puzelat Ko. Sometimes reminds me of Cornilessen. Always reminds me of Scholium.

Would think Pinot from the nose. Smelled like Pinot but with a lemon grass hint in the background. Black pepper was there also. Light mouthfeel that seemed to get bigger the longer it was open. I would buy more. Very good.

Kinda like a rose of red wines. Like a pinot but different. Very intriguing wine not to be missed. This is why I like scholium

Light, refreshing red. Spices jump around on the nose and on the mouth. Excellent.
